I recently bought some Cleveland halo XL irons. They absolutely changed my game. I so excited again to play golf. After 30 years of playing golf I have found a new lease and enthusiasm. Not being miserable after every game and loving the game. Thanks Cleveland!!!!!
are they on the heavy side? I'm keen to get these but not a fan of super heavy clubs
@@LesterCrimeIncI have played with the Halo clubs for a year now and do not think they are heavy
Would love to see more of these super game improvement irons on the channel! Great video guys 🙏
I’m an 8HC and been playing one length irons for years, really improved my game. Kept hearing about these, so tried them at the PGA store last week and fell in love. I even fell in love with the 5 wood, never played a wood before, always long irons, but I absolutely love the 5 wood. These clubs are so stupid easy to hit. Also, whether magical or mental, the counterbalance grip forced my swing tempo into Billy Dee Williams smoothness. I bought the 5 wood and 4-6-8-PW…I play half sets and look for a 20 yard gap, works really well for me, don’t leave shots short of the green anymore. Played my first round today, shot a 76 and was absolutely perfect in iron play. Ordered the SW today and will try the driver tomorrow to see if that magically mental shaft configuration works as well in it. I don’t care what they look like (the looks don’t bother me), only my scores. Heck, I even picked up a Cleveland chipper and can put the ball with 5 feet from 30 yards in about 90% of the time. Golf is hard, technology is amazing, I use it to my full advantage.
Are you missing the one length feature? I’m surprised even Cobra doesn’t offer this in their version of this club.
same here, still playing cobra forged tec one length.
struggling with height on anything more than 8 iron😬
intriguing for sure
The Clevleand chipper is the best club in my bag, i hit up to 110 aproach shots down to 10 yards bump and runs. I have 9/8/7 corbra one lenghts above that.
Which irons are you talking about?
Gentlemen, really enjoy your duo. I watch and enjoy your discussion and sharing the technical in such an understandable way. Another brilliant video!
I had some Adams V3 Hybrid and hybrid irons set when I first started. Absolutely LOVED them to pieces.
Great Post!! I found it challenging to hit my existing irons due to two major right hand operations, so after watching this video I tried them today. All I can say is WOW!! After thinking that golf was over for me I really do think that the Cleveland Launcher XL Halo irons will allow me to continue playing. Thanks for posting.
Thanks for the review guys....there are those of us who need game improvement clubs. I do enjoy watching all your reviews!
In the spring of this year 2021 I purchased a set of 2020 Cleveland Launcher HB Turbo irons 4-SW and they really helped to hit the ball higher and farther. Father time made me give up my beloved Cobra Fly Z Irons which never left my bag until I hit 70 years old this year. It was a great move to keep my game alive and viable.
This video was awesome! To watch how different the flights were....just such a wow factor! My girlfriend picked up the game last year and she plays Launcher UHX irons....we may have to replace those with these new Halo XL irons! Kudos to you guys for including equipment for all golfers from all different levels!
This was a great test! While I am getting my JPX 921 Hot Metals tomorrow, I completely believe in the idea that I play what makes me better, not what feeds my ego. My ego will be fed plenty by hitting good shots and beating my buddies, not by trying to hit clubs beyond my abilities. I'd buy those in a second. Well done!!!
Great video. It really shows what these sorts of clubs can potentially do for some players. Well done to Matt, I'm sure that was a challenging task for him. Fantastic ad for these Clevelands!
Great seeing Righty Matty, definitely enjoying seeing the comparison of the clubs. Definitely helps the higher handicap players and gives a bit more information for better informed decisions.
To quote Matty ‘Yesss’
Love the channel boys, keep up the good work always excited for a new review
I just got a set of these for an early Xmas present and after a few rounds, WOW! I am 61 and still hit it well but these bring me to a new level of golf. I can swing so easy and strike it better with more distance and higher softer landing shots. I don't care how they look, I don't focus on looks when I am over the ball.
My wife has the previous version(Turbo) which has her enjoying the game more then ever. If you want the easiest irons to hit ever made these are it. They are not bad to look down at either. Super confident looking. Great way of testing the forgiveness these offer over traditional game improvement irons. The titilest 300 are some of the best to so that shows are amazing these Cleveland irons are.
These relaxed videos are fun all around. It sounds like you guys are having a good time, too. Golf's hard, grab the fun where you can.
Matt's backswing still looks great, then just kills me on the follow through. great test. I think it's very realistic and useful info
This is helpful for far more folks that want to admit it guys, great job. At some point I will add more big clubs as I age..I already embrace the hybrids and blending the irons: it just works :) and to those how gave it the thumbs down fix your mouse control you meant to click thumbs up for Righty Matty!
30 handicap new golfer. I will be buying these Clevelands.
Went to the local Golf Galaxy last week, spent about an hour or so hitting 7 irons. I tried the T200, T300, Rad Speed, Sim 2, and I think one or two others. Average club head speed was around 80 mph. Best distance out of the Sim 2, but I was most consistent with the T300. My biggest issue (outside of strike consistency) was a lack of height. I think my average land angle was around 36*, which is way less than ideal. I didn't know about these, and I'm not sure they had them in the store yet. If they were, I find it interesting the fitter wouldn't have mentioned these to me. I'm certainly interested in going back and comparing them to the T300. Great video boys!
Great test guys! I was surprised to see that you were testing the Clevelands. Had to look twice at the title. Greatly appreciated!
Phenomenal video. I don’t practice as much as I used to and my contact has gone to crap with my players irons. I switched the head on my 5 iron to try the halo and it absolutely just works. Now switching the rest of the bag.
My wife - 73 yrs young - had carpal tunnel surgeries on both wrists 13 yrs ago and now has some thumb arthritis and considerable loss of grip strength in the last few years… She was a sweeper even before her wrist and hand issues made it mandatory! I’m going to get her fitted in the women’s version of these or a similar “iron-wood” set. Callaway, Cleveland, Tour Edge and Wilson all have similar offerings. If/when I can no longer take a nice divot with my irons, I may be looking for something like these. Thank You for deviating from Matt or Ian bombing away with X-flex clubs for distance, accuracy and consistency I have never approached!
This is the best channel for club reviews/tests. Period.
Best test ever - I’m saving to get a set. I play Tour Edge HL4s. Thanks guys & yes, agree - relatable Matt; & he can play!!
Great to have Matt doing right hand testing it puts him right where I am. Thanks Matt
I'm 66 years old and have arthritis in my hands and back. I also had a hip replaced several years ago. I love the game of golf but get frustrated when I can't hit the ball any distance or can't control it due to limited flexibility. I purchased these club about 1 1/2 months ago and can't say enough about them. I hit the ball down the fairway with out to much fade or draw. I'm getting more distance and having fun golfing again.
I like your reviews and your comparisons with other clubs.
Great job guys, keep up the good work
Please do more of this. This was really interesting. Great work lads
Appreciate you guys doing this test, there's plenty of us weekend hackers that just want to go out, hit some decent shots and have fun. The Clevelands seem to be right up my alley.
Very impressive!!! Enjoyed the podcast. One of your best!!!
absolute my favorite comparison you guys have done. Keep up the great content.
Mine too. I'm getting the T300s. May lick up a used set of launcher Halos later. Love them.
My dad is a senior golfer and uses the previous model of the Cleveland. They do a great job with a graphite shaft
Thanks so much for testing a club that might really help the majority of recreational golfers, including me. One very interesting result was how much tighter the dispersion patterns were for the Halos. Not only do they launch higher and go farther, but it sure looked like they would help us hit more greens. Guess what just got added to my Christmas list?
love these videos as well! keep up the great content as always boys!
I just bought the Halo irons a few weeks ago...it brings the game to a whole new level for me. I'd like to be in single digits for a handicap again 20 years later and I think these irons can do it. Incredible!
Be interesting to see how low a handicap a guy could get with these. +5 maybe?
Well done Gentlemen, A video I as a mid-handicapper can related to, 85-90 swing speed on a good day, absolutely need all the help I can get, will definitely will be looking in to the Cleveland Halo's
Thanks for yet another great video. It will benefit me and many others. I have g710 irons six-sand wedge. I do okay with the 8-s. Can’t hit the 6 or 7 iron for the life of me. Did not get along with g425 six or seven hybrids either. I have a lot of confidence in my G425 nine wood and a decent amount in my g425 five hybrid. No time for lessons this year. Barely enough time to play golf as it is. That gap in my bag has been driving me nuts. Was considering an eleven wood or a tsi1 7 hybrid. Finally a solution that sounds most appropriate for me is here. Going to try out the cobra t-rail hybrid irons 6,7. Might end up with the 5, 8, etc also. Thanks for getting me started in the right direction.
Just recently bought the new xl halo hybrids 6,5,4 and 3. Will buy the halo irons in 7,8,9 and pitch after watching this ✌🏻👍🏻
I REALLY LOVED THIS VIDEO!
Yesterday, I went to my local Golf Warehouse and tried this club (the non-hybrid version). I couldn't believe it. I'm pretty much a hacker and everything I hot with this club went STRAIGHT down the middle. The guy trying out a driver next to me was saying WOW I wish I could hit an iron like that. I was out performing his driver. I had trouble sleeping thinking about how much fun golf could be for me.
I went back there today and tried out several clubs. including the Hyrid version on the CLEVELAND LAUNCHER XL Halo. i felt more comfortable with the standard HALO CLEVELAND LAUNCHER XL with graphite shaft. THEN I bought a fun set of irons. I can hardly wait to get out there and give them a go. Looking forward to having FUN out there. THANKS AGAIN FOR THE VIDEO much appreciated!!
Do u mind sharing ur experience and insights in detail if possible? Which clubs did u buy (type, loft and shaft)? Thinking of buying one myself.
Excellent content, thanks for sharing this with us.
Love these type of videos. Please do more!
Wow. Superb. I am do glad you guys went here.
I am going to test the halo 5 or 4 iron
These Clevelands are the evolution of the original HiBore design I’ve been playing since about 2005. Now I’m mid 70s with back and joint problems, playing a lot less and not likely to upgrade again, but still think these Cleveland’s are the best choice for older, slow swing speed players. I still have an old hdcp index card from 20 yr ago that says 12.2, but those days are long gone. The HiBores kept me playing golf a lot longer and more fun than I probably would’ve had with less forgiving clubs.
Great test. Would love to see how righty Matt does with a 4 Halo vs a 4 Hybrid. That would have relevance for another set of golfers who may not play game improvement irons in the shorter clubs but are struggling to find consistency with longer ones.
Thank you for this video! I am shopping for a new iron set and this could make my short list.
A lot of fun to watch. Love Righty Matt
Great test! Would be great seeing you testing other brands of hybrid-irons as well :D
Great test! Thanks for catering for us higher handicappers.
I think the Launcher XL regularly gets misrepresented in retail settings. Earlier this year I dropped in to 3 different stores when looking to get my mum (been playing for 3-4 years and plays off 30) some new bats, and mentioned in each store I'd like her to try out the Launcher XL's - all 3 said immediately suggested these irons are designed for people who are only just taking up the game so wouldn't suit her. She is late 60's and just wants something which makes the game as easy as possible - I have a feeling they would suit a lot more players than retail staff give them credit for, and I think Cleveland need to do some work on changing the opinions of retail staff.
The salesman probably gets a larger commission from the other brands they push. I’ve been playing Cleveland Launcher HB irons for 10 years sine I was 57. They immediately helped me take my game from low to mid 90’s to mid to upper 80’s and I’ve had some of my best rounds in the low 80’s. They make the game easier for anyone who wants to use them. The game is hard enough, why use hard to use equipment.
Cleveland is very underrated. So called Pros feel embarrassed to test them. Quality and technology beats them all.
@@johnp1040 i know where you're coming from but having worked in the retail side of the golf industry for several years i can tell you this isn't true 95% of the time. commission in retail settings is rare these days and the bias mostly comes from the internal golf snob of the salesperson. it also comes from a subconscious fear of embarrassing or insulting someone by recommending a super-game-improvement iron. that being said, i agree with you in that more people should expand their horizons and try easier to hit irons. i see far too many people at my club using blades or close to them purely out of ego, and if they'd just give other irons a chance they could shave strokes off their game.
@@gregbrown98 I get it. People need to leave their ego home. You want to have fun and enjoy the game, not get frustrated. Same concept,
I see too many people playing from the wrong tees. Why do you want to hit 3 into a short par 4, or 2 into a long par 3, when you know you can’t do it.
@@johnp1040 exactley i played off the greens this morning shot a course best 85 and enjoyed myself, never once had to think at address if i dont stripe this im done.
she only needs 3 clubs, a 3 wood, 7 iron and a wedge...well and a putter...in lady graphite shafts...if she improves then add .. most people would greatly benefit from "all hybrids"... I'm waiting for the day someone on the tour like deChamb figures it out and golf will then adopt a "new standard"
Awesome review. Thank you. Question - hitting from a mat is one thing but what about ground interaction? You made the comment about the value of these for those who strike thin, but what about those golfers who tend to hit down and take a larger divot? Would the thinner sole T300 be a better choice?
Great test this, and proper eye opener to anyone who won't get past the look of these clubs to give them a go!
Brilliant that you have done a test relevant to the golfing masses.
This was probably the best club comparison I have seen. It's nice not to see a pro compare the clubs. Excellent!
Nice to see something for high handicap folks. I ordered a set of Cleveland Halo irons based on your comments. Now help me with fairway clubs.
I have a set of Launcher HB about a year old now, I am 68 play off 12 and would not play anything else. For older golfers these can be a blessing, I also have the 12 degree driver which I get 206 meters from, as you said sometimes thinking outside the box is a good thing but give yourself a bit of time because these clubs have strong lofts so your club selection and course management become more important and the game becomes a lot more fun
Good golfing
Those will be my next set of irons! That was an impressive test! 👍👍
Good shit fellas. Love this show!
Super test as always…these guys are class acts!!
I had budgeted about $300-400 to upgrade my irons now that I was playing more frequently. Upon improving my driver game and incorporating wedges into my game my iron skills some how took a hit. I found a set of the Tour Edge version of these and figured I could always resell and switch back to a more conventional set of irons once I found my groove again. Honestly I’m a big fan of this style as more of a weekend warrior. My bad hits were always chunks and now at least when I do chunk I get some distance due to the larger forgiving sole instead of going nowhere for my efforts.
Great video. I am going to get them. My whole bag is hybrids 4-7 SIM and dont use irons much. So i can use them to lower my score more
Great banter! Good fun vid
Haha “Righty Matt” should be renamed “Relatable Matt” 🤣😂😅 Great job as usual boys.
Fantastic test once again
It’s these kind of videos that always make me wonder if I really should be using a small “players cavity” iron 🤔 Great test and special shout out to Matt for putting his righty swing on display again. 👍
Exactly the combo I've been looking for...looking at both of these sets. I'm checking to see if I can game T300s or if I have to stay in the Super Game Improvement (currently game 2014 Adams). Thanks guys...
I been using Adams as well. The V3 series from Hybrid to Hybridish Irons. Helps my game a lot.
I have these. These are in fact the easiest and best irons I've ever played. Launcher is an appropriate name. Love em.
I haven't played an Iron longer than a 6 iron in a couple years. Hybrids and Tour Edge Iron woods have helped me a TON
I own the xl halos irons 😇... and I came from the taylormade M cgb irons... best irons I've ever made ball contact with! Absolutely 💯 💯 for me!
If Matty Aced one, he’ll have to play’em! Getting close! Nice blog!
Another excellent review. Thanks 👍
Great review these are definitely on my list for next set of clubs. Out of curiosity what sort of swing speed does righty Matt have? You could see how he was really concentrating hard. Also loved the test of Sun 70 799’s.
Kudos to Matt hitting switch so good. Kudos to Cleveland for making clubs that launch easily. Launch, spin and ball speed..."the corner stone of any nutritious" golf club...And where else can you get top notch golf info & Beyonce references except at TXG....go Ian... 😄
Thank you for doing this........coincidentally, I bought a set this morning before I saw this video on my feed 😎
Would love to see a comparison between Cleveland Halo, Cobra T-rail, Tour Edge iron-wood, and Power Built EX-550. As someone who uses super game improvement clubs I would love to see the comparison. Keep up the great work guys love your channel
Great test guys.
I laughed so hard at 4:44 at the toe mark hahaha! Love it
That realization that Matt hits RH very close to my stock distances RH. Except I've played that way my whole life 🤦♂️
The realization that Matt is a far better player playing the wrong way round than I'll ever be playing orthodox.
he hits them further than mine 😭
Yeah, this was... depressing to say the least.
Man i was thinking the same thing, worst part I have the 2019 launchers and i don't get nearly the same consistency (i blame my swing more than anything) that Matty does swining RH...lol SMH
Righty Matty is 5-10-15 yards longer than me with PW-7i-4i and I was going to blame my 15 year old x16s for that until I remembered that I tested T300 last week and Matty was still longer than me😭
I love them. I have a mixed set and carry a 5 and 6 Iron with a set of zx5 s
love watching Righty Matt (aka CleanDog) do these thests!
I always enjoyed Halo using the Master Chief Collection but now I can play during my golf game. Neat.
I'm a single digit...and that was interesting and entertaining. A lot of golf fanatics that shoot 90+ including my dad and cousins. Will have to get them fitted with these. P.S. one word, Ian...SUNCSCREEN.
That was awesome. Very impressive 👍.
Bought Cleveland Hi Bore clubs years ago iam 77 years so easy to hit irons wish I could say the same about my putting but manage to get handicap down to 14 .definitely thinking of buying the Cleveland halo. To upgrade.
Very interesting in that Matty Boy's swing speed and ball speeds right handed are almost exactly the same as mine. Mark Crossfield having the previous Launcher's in his bag for the long irons helped me put my ego in check. If someone as good as him used a super game improvement club, why shouldn't I??? I was fitted into 921 Hot Metals and they have made a world of difference for me. Hurt my ego so much that I kept wanting to cancel the order and get a players distance iron. My ego wanted a players distance iron but the numbers were much better with the Hot Metal. The dispersion horizontally was much much better. Seeing Mark with the Launchers(Yes I know he is sponsored) really did help me to give the Hot Metals a real chance and I'm really glad I did.
Really useful video for a 22 HCP player using Mizunos. As a sweeper maybe these will help me.
Wow great content fellas!!
Welcome to the other half of our building 😂 love it
Great video! Any plans to review the new XL fairway?
Great vid as always guys. I was shopping for the Halo's and there are some shaft options. What shafts was Matt swinging in this comparison?
This was an awesome test! I may get a long iron in this set.
Thank you for doing tests and videos that would benefit the regular guy. I could see a set like this in my so distant future. Keep up the great work
Just bought it. So easy to hit. Worth it
I'm going out to by some. I was testing clubs in SLC, Utah this week. Went in to hit the Callaway Rouge HD and after the golf pro gave me the Wilson Launchpad then the Cleveland Launcher Halo I hit the Cleveland Launcher easily better than all the rest. Very surprised, just trying to get my head around the way they look. Price is great and I'm sure they will help my not very good game. Cheers for the input.
Loved it especially for someone that is a higher then high handicap.... Would be interesting to see if they help with "fat shots"
Fantastic test. Finally you did one of these, unfortunately ive already bought a new set of xxio blue 11s last year. Any chance of a comparison?
I did play the previous Cleveland version the Turbo iron, found them to be long but dispersion was not good at all. These seem to prove Cleveland may have corrected that issue. Thank you!
Odd I have the turbo's and the only time I have dispersion issues is when I truly screw my swing up overall the dispersion of the irons for me is dead on.
I'm not a high handicap golfer, but I am getting older and those Cleveland Halo irons are looking pretty tempting.
Great vid. That has definitely got me thinking ! is there a halo driver for Matt to test ? What is the lowest handicap you would fit into these ?
Thanks for doing this-and please tell me Matt missed more than a few hitting right handed. 😅
I appreciate you taking the time to do reviews and tests focused more on players like me: the crowd who can't break 120. I'd love to see a side by side comparison between the Launcher and the Cobra Fmax Airspeed irons, please.
Don’t take this the wrong way but spend a grand on lessons rather than clubs
@@jameshayes7619 no way - I'm not the target market but these things are magic for duffers.
@@jameshayes7619 wow, no one's ever given that piece of advice on the internet before. I bet his mind was blown!
@@doubleohlesbo I wouldn’t know Danielle as I’m don’t watch many beginner product videos but thanks for your searing wit, you really showed me! My point still stands if your playing off 120 like the OP then either give it up or get lessons as nee clubs won’t do jack shit
@@jameshayes7619 Clearly that's not true as evidenced by the pretty obvious difference between the two GI/SGI clubs tested here. And we have no idea if he's taking lessons or what his game is like. Better advice is worry about your own game.
