Cycling into Boise, Idaho-Ryan and Ali Bike Across America-Ep 7
Вставка
- Опубліковано 30 чер 2018
- We ride our first 100 mile day into the great city of Boise, Idaho.
I'm excited to announce that Ali and I are riding across the USA! We're riding Trek's new gravel bikes, the Checkpoint, and the goal is to take the road less traveled in search of great people and inspiring stories. Besides profiling the wonderful people along the way, we'll be asking everyone for LOVE advice. Our route will take us from Oregon to New York and WE WANT YOU to help out. If you have any ideas of places to visit, friends to meet, or burritos to eat, find us on social media and point us in the right direction.

lol, ryan yelling at the cows to be quiet, while explaining how great it is hear all these subtle things :)
Hello everyone from a tiny town in Idaho called Terreron! We’re camped out behind a church...reading your comments. Thanks for putting a smile on our faces:)
In addition to your “you are not lost- you are just where you are”. I’d add- “what time is it? The time is now. I am loving being part of your now moments. Thanks for the inspiration.
When I was kid we would put May baskets on doors and then the one receiving the basket would run out and give a kiss. Thanks for reminding me of this great tradition.
Very cool! Love that tradition!
I laughed, I cried, but the dog was the star of this show. I wanted to hold him up close. Great work guys!
"No good hill goes unpunished!" Great job Ali!!! 100 miles is 100 miles!!
That's funny I seen them in another video time stamp 544 great people
Ride on Ali and Duzer!
G'day, Ryan and Ali! I reckon there should be something better than just a 'like' button to hit! I LOVE this video, especially the dancing around the 'maypole' (boy, THAT takes me back!) for the solstice. Yes, I also loved the brief 'quiet!' to the cows that were just doing what they do naturally. Those nachos looked somewhat messy to eat..... you may have guessed that I've never eaten them, nor have I had burritos, nor the icecream that doesn't fall out of the container, when you turn it upside down. I'd be really interested to know how that makes it nicer to eat!! Congrats to Ali for her first 100-miler! Wow! That takes me back to 1967, when I rode up the coast of New South Wales from Wollongong to Brisbane. That was my first experience of bike camping/touring. I completed several 100-mile days on that trek. Keep up the good vibes, you two!
Next time you stop to visit cows, if you sing to them, they will come listen...maybe try that frog song on them?
Sending you both some cyber burritos...
My hands are still up!
Always!
Congrats on your 1st century Happy Dance 💃💃💃💃📸🚴♂️🚴♂️🚴♂️🚴♂️🚴♂️🚴♂️📸
Drew Lucero thanks friend!!🙏🏽🌺
Great Century Ride! Love the enthusiasm!
Wow !
I did a 30 mile ride with a tailwind, so much fun!
Ryan and Ali, keep the dream alive, keep inspiring people, and rest those legs!!
100 miles of tailwind is a miracle, I usually start out only to have it switch on me after a couple of hours.
Hey Ryan & Ali, thank you for all your hard work! video's editing, and sharing with us! Places I've never seen before! Just beautiful! Oh and the Love topic! Whew! So cool to see different perspectives! So I love bicycling, I'm 57 out of shape, but would dream of some trip like this! I do a little each day with alot of stress of my own business. So my wife of 34 yrs sat and watched with me! She can't stand U tube! You guys are so inspiring! As you are both on a journey of life right now! I'm still learning how to try and make it work! LOL! Prayiing for your safe journey, no flats, no head winds, no falls, and lot of ice cream with no health issues! LOL!
God bless you both! Enjoy each moment! Love to you both! Looking forward to seeing your next one, savor the moments!
Allen Rousseau thanks friend! We’re all learning together 😊 every day, but I am pretty sure ice cream is clutch for success in biking & love 💪🏽🍦💛
I'm from John Day and recognized every part of your ride in this video. I live in Alaska now and am always homesick for Oregon, thanks for curing a little homesickness.
I truly appreciate the videos you put out. You're a good soul amigo, not to mention an inspiring one. Ali is a trooper is doing something which I believe to be really ambitious. This cross country journey is surely a test in any relationship. A perfect relationship ( to mean no conflict - and complete agreement with one another) doesn't exist. Good relationships make greater sums than their parts. Good luck guys and good vibes!
Jaime Gonzales 🙏🏽🌺
Thank you Ali and Ryan about show us all your adventures regards from Mexico

A happy day for you both. Congrats on the century.
Great video! I am enjoying the cycleing across America videos. Ryan, I watched a couple of your videos before Ali and they were interesting, entertaining, but the addition of Ali is over the top. What a great attitude. Safe travels to you both. Looking forward to the next edition.
You guys are awesome, keep it going!

Your videos make me smile.
Love it !! Keep pedalling 😃
Ali is really getting into it! Excellent video!
Another video that is fun to enjoy. Just watching your route and where you are riding is wonderful. Ali needs a camera. Her point of view needs to be part of what both of are doing.
Another great video and kudos on the camera work. Your footage efforts pay off. With all of the bad news out there, it is nice to see how many strangers extend themselves to you. Continued safe travels to the both of you.
Thank you Brian and Ali, your videos always brings a smile to my face
Excellent! The interview at 5:00 is wonderful! Thank you.

James Webster 🙏🏽🌻
Been enjoying the videos. Up to Episode 10. Do you have plans on going through the Great Lakes region. We are just off the Adventures Cycles North Tier route by Lake Erie. (Just west of Cleveland) We have hosted cross country cyclist before. Have a good back yard and warm showers if interested. Beer and ice cream as well.... Best of luck and stay safe. Keep up the great videos.
Michael McIntosh thanks! We haven’t planned that far ahead on our route yet, but will keep your offer in mind! We do love our ice cream :-)
Becareful out there have a great ride 🚵♂️🚵♂️🚵♂️🚵♂️🚵♂️
Wonderful singing of the "små grodorna" song, and the dancing around the small "midsommarstång"!!! 👍👍🇸🇪🇸🇪
that was awesome you came to the proverbial fork in the road Ali made a great choice, Unity.... Awesome....
I love my Trek bikes so much that I just ordered 3 new 2019's for my son, my wife, and I!! Kudos to Trek!!! And to you and Ali!! Keep the vids coming.
Awesome job on your first hundo Ali! Keep them smiles outta your pockets!
Snydlywhiplash 🙏🏽🌻
Awesome series Ryan Great Job ... I hope it was fun for both of you--- Looks like you guys had fun
Awesome, Congrats Ali!
Armando de la Torre 🙏🏽🌼
So stoked every time I see a new video!!!
Ryan, you are truly inspiring and your respect and love for nature and life is awesome! I wanna see your setups for this trip. Maybe you can include some footage of that in the next upload.
Lots of Ali riding, but none of you Ryan. Teach that girl how to hold a camera!
“…ej svansar ej svansar ej oron havar de…”. Love that song. Used to sing with my kids on midsommardagan while dancing around our midsommarstang. (Can’t do the Swedish letters with this device).
My blue line on Google sort of tells me the elevation gained or lost. Maybe it is a new update, BUT I have used it with my folding bike while trucking! Just click the bike across the top bar where you choose your vehicle once you pick a route. Love the videos and you give me hope of finding a girl to hang with. Stay safe 🚲
I liked fir the doggo
Y'all are making this almost look easy. You two must be serious bad asses.
Well done Ali! Welcome to the century club!
Paul D 🙏🏽🌺
Ryan you found someone who like to dance around a tree. That is a rarity !!! hahahaha. I love it! At 9:00 in the morning this video topped my morning coffee. The energy I got from it is pretty amazing! Love you guys. Your laughter is rejuvenating !!
10:33 "QUIET!!" - Hahahah, I had a good chuckle from that!
Omg those nachos looked amazing
I have done some bike touring and never thought to video it..... amazing to watch. Google map trick there are layer options and one is terrain. Very helpful. Love the daily mantra no flats!
LOL - haaaay! I got it, Ryan!
Thank you for well documented journey. Mid-westerner country boy/man (me included) can appreciate cows and the green pasture of grass. :-)
Ice cream powered..! Happy days 👍
You two are awesome! Ali, congrats on the century! Hope you had at least a double-scoop to celebrate! :)
Jeff Westmoreland thanks, friend! I had the biggest ice-cream they’d serve me .. with a cookie on top 😬
Don’t quiet the cows Ryan - keep moo’ving🐮 Looks like you both are having a great time - safe travels 🚴♀️🚴♂️
On a ride in SC a farmer seemed to come out of nowhere surprised me by asking me "Were you talking to my cows?" Embarrassed because he heard me................I said she started the conversation.
… yeah that sounds like us here in SC lol
you guys are great :)
Love it! Congrats Ali on your century. Don't forget to Moo at cows.
Fiets 901 🙏🏽🌺 gotta show the cows some love!
Ist century! "Today you are a cycleist". Welcome to the club. We like her even more after seeing how she petted the dog.
YUKI INU 🙏🏽💪🏽🌸 dogs are the best!!
Posted this question on an old Ryan video. Why the Treks? They don’t look comfortable. It looks like more aggressive positioning. What do you like better, pinion, derailleur or hub transmission and why? Thinking about upgrading but I defer to your experience. Loved the show so far. Ryan you are over your pay grade with Ali. She is a catch. :)
Glen Bahde I love a lot of different bikes for different reasons. The treks are fast as heck and give us the option of riding dirt...I love my Pinion, will use that for another adventure down the road.
Ali, you're a sport. Ryan, stop shouting at cows. I'm familiar with the ice cream trick: it worked well for my younger son, 9 at a time, during a biking tour in Holland - did wonders for his motivation.
Watching in 2020 I know your relationship is over but you were very lucky to experience such an adventure with someone you love.
I agree. I have nothing but gratitude for our experience together
Safe travels to my favorite couple in UA-cam 😀
luitgi 🙏🏽🌸
Hi Guys, been watching your videos from Ep 1, and I really enjoyed them. I'm retiring at the end 2018 and taking my Trek Cross Rip 2 from Virginia to Oregon in May of 2019 on the Trans American bike route. It will be my first tour. I have done a couple of short ones ( 200 mi.). I hope to enjoy the every day of unknown adventures it will bring. keep the great videos coming. Thanks, Chris
Nice Chris!! You are gonna LOVE it!!!
Started yet?? Hope you don't drown in all the G-D rain in the east the last several years, and still snowing now in the middle. Rain capes don't help me much at all. I get soaked from sweat anyway. Last year I rode 3,900 miles in the Can/Am NW. Only 4 rain days riding. Too hot was a bugger also. My custom bike has an unstoppable Rohloff14.
What I'd like to hear is how it's different riding alone and riding with someone.
What a great series. Would love to see your gear list including the kinds of cameras, lenses, and drone you used. Thinking of doing my own trip to Nashville, TN from Richmond, VA with my son in June.
I list my cameras in the description of every video. This video might be helpful to you. ua-cam.com/video/wyMghJJT_bQ/v-deo.html
My friend's son owns the ice cream shop "the stil"😊
Dude this girl is a keeper Ryan, she is awesome!!!
Michael Peck oh absolutely Michael boy hit with that one on the head except for the fact that she hasn't been farting in your tent all night you dumbass wake up dummy
FSEVENMAN lol huh? That made zero sense.
I get what you are saying now but wow, that was so discourteous the way you said that. Try not to be such a douche bag!
Awesome adventure guys!!
Is Ali's saddle a lil too high?
Rocking hips, toe pointing?
Knee pain?
Komoot for route elevations. congratulations Ali!
oldsap 🙏🏽🌺
Hey Ryan and Ali. Love the across America series. Small taxonomy suggestion is to put the episode number at the beginning of the title. Sorry but WAY easier to stay on track when scrolling on phone or tablet. Did I say I love the videos?
Don Gilroy hi buddy! I would do that, but episode numbers at the beginning of titles are no good for search engine optimization. Sorry!! If you’re in the playlist, they should roll in sequence
Hey guys, just working my way through your crazy fun tour....love it!!
Can you tell me what bike shorts are you guys wearing, are they bib shorts?
they are made by www.elevepine.com
The nurse in Minority Report movie sings the Small Frog song right before helping replace Tom Cruise's eyes.
Oh really? i'll have to go back and watch that scene
👍😎
What Tires are you using? Tubeless or Inner-tubes? If inner tubes, are you using puncture resistant ones? Do you use Mr. Tuffy inserts? Planning a trip, and looking for advise to avoid flats. Sorry if I missed it. Thanks!!!
I am going to ride my bike from Cincinnati to Columbus this summer which is over a 100 miles. I have ridden that far twice in my life, once in 1977 and once in 2000 so it has been a while. I have been practicing 4 to 5 times a week spending 1/2 hour on a stationary bike machine and 1/2 hour on a stair climbing to building up my endurance. As soon as the weather gets better I am going to slowly build up to a hundred miles on my real bike which is also a Trek to make sure I can do it ok
Nice, have fun my friend! You'll rock that 100 miles
You ask you girl to ride a century and all she wants is ice cream at the end of the ride...put a ring on that finger n you keep her nice n tight to you..she is a keeper.
What bikes are you guys using? Thanks again! Keep up the awesome work
To think that there are going to be these huge overpopulated city’s and in between, old abandoned small towns that dried up because later generations left
How many liters is the red panniers used in this video? Per bag ? Also can you use a rack pack with a 35 liter each set of panniers ? Thanks buddy!
How do you bicycle tour? It's not as easy as it looks. I made 28 miles, tucked my tell between my legs and ran
Ok...ICE CREAM RUUUUUULES ! (I agree) what flavors do u 2 go for?
alex harris 💪🏽🍦💛 we love phish food!! Or chocolate vanilla swirl with rainbow sprinkles .. Or huckleberry if we’re in Idaho :-)
give Ali a camera so we can see her veiw
I agree with this 100% Camera 1 & Camera 2
Yeah, maybe Ali wants to make comments about your butt for awhile.
Good idea!
luitgi yeah it would
Have you and Ali watched your old videos together?
Please explain what highway your on in shows
