- A motorcycle rodeo is like a regular rodeo, just way louder and crazier!
I'm excited to announce that Ali and I are riding across the USA! We're riding Trek's new gravel bikes, the Checkpoint, and the goal is to take the road less traveled in search of great people and inspiring stories. Besides profiling the wonderful people along the way, we'll be asking everyone for LOVE advice. Our route will take us from Oregon to New York and WE WANT YOU to help out. If you have any ideas of places to visit, friends to meet, or burritos to eat, find us on social media and point us in the right direction.

It's really great to see the motorcycle community embracing your presence. Motorcycles are a product of the byclcle era, as you probably know. It's great to see those two linages connecting.
As I'm not American and never been there, all I ever saw about these Harley-Davidson guys was through films and they were extremely negative. You gave me a REAL aspect and I thank you a lot for that!

That was kind of different, but so right up there with a Duzer's chocolate box life. Never know what you are going to get. Thank you for sharing. It is really true about both types of bikers. I cannot ever remember having someone on a motorcycle hassling me on my bike. On the contrary they are almost always friendly and helpful. I once had a guy on a Harley turn around and pull up to offer me water on a long hot ride. I didn't need it, but it was awesome that he was looking out for a stranger on his bicycle. Stay safe and have fun you two.

The brotherhood is real between bikes and bikers. I was a messenger while in college in Portland, ME. A city bus hit me and kept driving but didn’t make it more than two blocks before the local chapter of the Outlaws MC had it pulled over. I know the stereotype around the Outlaws but that day they covered my ass and made sure I was ok and that bus driver stopped his bus. Very cool seeing you guys bring light to that community.
That bike rally is probably one of my favorites of this adventure of not the favorite. Cool group of people.

This reminded me of the time I rolled into Daytona Beach, FL late one evening while on a long trip on my Trek. It was Bike Week. Bike Week is for motorcycles... the entire city was full of motorcycles. The KOA campground owners let me camp at their house as the campground was packed full of motorcycles. The next day everyone ignored me as I was wearing bicycle riding clothes and stuck out like a sore thumb. With that I went to the Daytona Harley Davidson shop and bought a t-shirt. Then, while wearing my new shirt, guys would ask me what I was riding. The looks on their faces were great when I responded "A Trek." The follow up question was invariably "What the Hell is that?" The guys were much like those you met at the rodeo -- overall they were very nice. I was invited to join a group who had laid claim to a section of the pavillion... sacred ground as it was raining and the air was heavy with the smell of wet leather. I'll never forget sitting across from a 50ish guy who was mostly bald and who had an eagle tattooed on his forehead that said "Harley" in the middle of it. I kept wanting to ask him how drunk he was when he got that tattoo... It was a great experience as your adventure with the bikers was.

I have been in this rodeo a few times and gone to it a few more times. Live about 4 blocks from the fairgrounds out back of little Whie Church and I get to see all the bikes going by.
I didn't notice the date, but I can see my Scarlet on line for the slow race.

Definitely enjoyed this vlog, I have known numerous motorcycle club members over the years and they are nothing like what most of the world stereotypes them as. Always friendly, giving me a wave, and plenty a room as they pass.

Reminds us of the time we did a time trail on the bike path from Glen Falls, NY to Lake George, NY and as we popped out of the path and into the Lake area we ran right into the Americade Moto festival that we had no idea was going to be there. One camera bike and one SpikeBoarding athlete and there we were in a town filled, and I mean filled as in perhaps about 50,000 people and 25-35k Moto machines. They were riding big motors and we had become them. Mostly Canadians that came down. Same deal, rodeo events and every one committed to a passionate life. Loads of passion to invest smoke and drink booze which permeated our youthful passions. Folks kept asking us tons of questions. We just kept replying "Oh sure we drink whisky only in reverse!" We kept marveling at there machines and they kept looking at our legs! You all want to ever revisit an epic Moto fest, Lake George Americade. Make sure to bring an inflatable SUP and tandem the lake as the sun sets as the horse power roars all around. Sublime living as we smile at death, each in our own chosen ways.
Ryan, I loved many of your vids I've seen, but with this one you've taken your work a whole level up! Great work, keep it up.

Fun, fun, fun. Very cool rodeo. Bikers have been cool to me on my bike as others have mentioned. Shouldn't judge a book by the cover. Years ago when I was a police officer on vacation I dropped my wallet at a fast food place. Didn't realize it until I had gone back to hotel. Remembered a knarly looking biker when I was eating. I went to the local police station to report my lost wallet and they had it. Turns out the biker found it and took it to the police station. He left his number for me to call. Turns out his dad was an officer too.
