After making a few changes the state inspector came back out and we passed the inspection. Now to get the deer up to the ranch. Put a flatbed on the plow truck along with a new exhaust.

Heath: See if the Deer Owner will sell you the fencing & shelter. Might save you some time & money.
Are you going to replace the wood you used as tensioners on the corners with proper turnbuckles? Just curious.
Thanks for adding the "Why"! Best of luck with herding them and getting them safely to your property.
I wait all week for these videos, thank you guys for the entertainment. Keep up the awesome work.
Nice-looking feeder. I wouldn't know a bad weld if I saw one.
Right up when i was to comment on those open top welded pipes in the feeder, being an open invitation to early rust you capped them off. Well done!
Thanks for bringing us along to enjoy your journey 🙏👍
Wire builds the puddle, voltage spreads it out. Remember that and it will go along ways while welding
I always think of this....
Grinder and paint, makes me the welder I ain't.
Keep up the amazing work
Yes there is pride in being a tradesmen . They are the hands on Nation builders and the ones keeping things running . Been a Contract welder 45+ years now retired do to health reasons . Having been one doing other trades is easier because one has rubbed shoulders with the other trades . It is nice to be able to work with ones hands and not worry about having to depend on others in a pinch
Congratulations! Now the work starts.
You should billed a little roof over to stop food getting wet
Cedar, Heath… as we are approaching another winter, it is amazing how you and the family are prioritizing what is important and how well.. another plow truck is in the making.
Thank you for making every Sunday so enjoyable
Watching from the uk 🇬🇧 👍👍👍👍
We just love the videos Heath and Cedar, great blessings to you and family! 👏👏👏🤩🤩🤩💯💯💯🙏🙏🙏
Heath, it warms my heart when I see you using the excavator and the skid steer! Don’t sell them!!!
Congrats. I highly recommend you cap the open pipes on the feeder. Water and bees will make you regret not doing it
didnt you watch the video and see that he did it already?
@@warrenmichael918yes, clearly I saw him do it and chose to comment anyways.
@@Wvusoldier217 you would be surprised how often that happens
Wow, the new plough truck sounds awesome!! 😊👏😊😊🇬🇧
I would like to know.....when you had all that mud after the thaw, did you install a culvert to drain the water and perhaps a pipe across to release the excess water, to prevent another occurrence like this?.
Pretty sure he didn’t
So happy for you. Can’t wait for next week’s video. ❤️❤️
Enjoyed the video! Congratulations on passing the inspection. Can’t wait hardly to see when you have them in your new pasture. Keep up the great content! 😀👍❤️🚂
Just a thought. Heath, you and Al Lumna should do a joint podcast. You both have the most impressive homesteads as well as superior UA-cam videos. Kudos to you both
If he did a podcast i would be absolutely thrilled.
You are one talented man Heath!!!
I really like the way you made the hay rack
"Work your passion in wherever you can." Wise words!
Congratulations on the deer fencing!
Tip when welding pipe for hand rails or feeders drill a 1/8 th hole at the bottom of each tube to let moisture drain out no matter how good you think you are moisture will collect on the bottom inside and if not allowed out, rust ensues. good channel and content
Heath, rattle can some bbq paint on that feeder before it starts rusting. Really enjoy your content. Ky
A good reference is Jimmy and Chris Houston's Twin Eagle Ranch. He has white tail deer, albino deer, and elk in high fence
20:13 could you also make a second pair of skids with a simple gable roof. Let it slide over the 1st to keep snow off?
It would just need to be a bit wider.
Anyway 🧡💚👏
good weights for the flatbed are concrete parking lot stop bumpers.. can be bolted on or off pretty quick!
feeders, all that work and material now you know why they are so expensive to buy.....
You need to take up Elk Hunting for a main meat source.
Your mechanical know how is amazing!!
hey Heath that hay feeding is thing of beauty, even if it is a utility item which will serve a purpose and last.
You may want to consider a few drain holes in the feeder tray bottom.
Snow plowing for your road, you need plenty of weight in the back and duel rear tires with chains.
Increase the rear suspension.
DEFINITELY separate the young bucks from the dominate / breeder buck. Look at getting rid of some bucks and obtaining more does.
You should have a doe to buck ration of at least five to one.
I would say you are using your skills to the fullest. More people should learn from your example and experience.
Congrats
Awesome job 👍👍👏👏👏 on your building stuff, can't wait to see you put your own touch on this old Ford truck, awesome job 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Deer and a sleigh, perfect backup plan for when the plow truck fails. 😂
Congratulation Heath, Cedar & kids!
And that ladies and gentlemen is how you build a deer feeder!
Don't forget the retaining wall ! 🙄🤗
Super nice feeder you built! Nice new plow truck too! Can’t wait till next vid from you guys!😊
Very nice hay rack; I’m glad you got your deer paddock certificate and can get your deer to their new home ❤
There's a really cool lsand in the San Juan Islands in WA called Spiden Island. It is privately owned by the owner of Oakley. It is covered in Fallow deer and other exotics. Back in the 50-70s it was a private hunting resort, were rich people would fly in and hunt whatever. They used to release crazy things like Rhinos and stuff, but a population of Fallow deer have survived on the Island to this day. Hunting Stopped in the early 70s. You can drive by on your boat and watch all ther deer feeding in the grass medows.
I think you should add some Reindeer and some camels. You cn sell those for good money.
Hey guys my big valley ranchers. Good to see ya again. It’s been awhile. I’m glad to see you are doing good. So now going to herd deers. Happy holidays. Until next time. Please, take care and stay safe. Love ya 🍺🍺🥤🥤🥤🌈❤️🌹😇🙏🇺🇸🌞👍🕊👏
England uk things are moving forward great heath x
Beautiful job on the feeder. That thing is going to outlast you.
For what it is worth, every feeder I saw in the mountains of Germany, for the wild deer, had very simple roofs over them with shack shingles. I am guessing it is to keep the hay from getting wet and molding.
Incredible. I hope you are going to have a wonderful time with them deer. 😊
What's the status of that bad corner on the road to your place that kept ya'll trapped last winter?
Supper job
Would you ever consider a roof over your hay rack to protect the hay from bad weather?
Go for it make it happen look at what you have already built. If ya need anything call the Plumber he is Plum Good.
Believe me in these times it is perfect that you do more then get a certain color on the wall only.
What a journey! I am enjoying it!
I am South African, fallow deer was introduced in the mid 1800's by who else than the Brits, I grew up with Fallow deer being plentiful, a farmer not far from us had thousands, and none of them you could feed by hand;-) they were proper wild like Springbok or Impale but they are not real jumpers, if pushed they would give a normal fence height a go, but they need to be pushed very hard obviously the Impala and Kudu will take on 10' if need be. The meat is pretty good for venison, maybe the taste of Mutton (Old Sheep) but my mom would would mix Fallow with Lamb and some pork and make brawn a type of meat Pate, very nice, we loved it. Nowadays hunting, being the sport of Gentleman and Rich men can choose from a variety of Antelope and Fallow, but only as Trophy's, no female hunting, and only past prime Bucks come up for sale. Americans love their Guns and Hunting as much as South Africans, has their Hunting booked out for years in advance, most US hunters will go back to the same farm year after year, so friendships has spawned and some US Ranchers has setup their own Hunting Lodges, some of them close to the size of the bigger Lodges. Although we don't drink Bud Light, we always have the best Bourbon and quality Spring water ice cubes just for our Yanks, LOL! and they have learn to enjoy a Castle or 20.
Your welds are like mine, perfect... enough to do the job. :)
Great video!
Love all your content - Thanks!
Wow you're using a mat!!! Been telling you for years to get kneepads please lol. I put them on every day take them off at night
I have watched and been subscribed to this channel for a long time. I remember video's of clearing the land before what is now the shop foundation was put in. I like watching your channel as you build a home for your family.
That being said I hope that the Deer Farm becomes just that, a farm. One where the goal is to make some form of profit (meat for the family, cash by selling what you have raised, etc). Way to often in the channels I have watched, animals become pets or something to look at.
I always thought you were getting a snow thrower for the skid steer, I obviously miss heard. But, if you do fancy one, new, I've really liked the Titan brand, I bought back in 2021. 58 inches, throws snow very good. Great video Heath and Cider!
curious what was wrong with the plow truck you built last year???
Hey Heath check out NYA Millennial installing water hole system that doesn't freezes.NYA Millennial Boring holes at Whitetail Ridge
What's your long term plan for the deer?
Something to watch out the front door 😅😅
Supper and Dinner.
I was going to say, hey you should weld some caps on that feeder but I guess ya just saved it till the end! Haha Great looking feeder!
I'm from the south. We get very little snow but when it comes we are paralyzed because there is no infrastructure in place to remove it. We are lazy I guess so we just pile snow in the beds of our trucks for the weight. When the snow melts on the roads, so it does in the truck. No unloading of the snow no need for the extra weight .
We were born at the wrong time in history. To think of making a good living as a tradesman and only have to work 40 hours a week to do it would be unheard of during my life as a carpenter. Always needed a side hustle to make a living.
One other thing on the welding, always grind off the mill scale. It’s better to have shiny bright metal to weld
It was really interesting to see you get the feeder together like that. I feel like I would have needed to make myself blueprints to accomplish what you did. Mine would not have turned out like yours did either even with plans to follow. The flatbed looks good on a OBS ford, I also can’t believe you got that taken care of in less than a week. As always l, great video can’t wait for the next one.
🙋♀️❤️. Oh thank you! I hoped they would be pets! I'm all ready in love with the friendly buck! ❤❤❤❤❤🎉❤️🌞🎈🎈🎈🎂⚘️⚘️🍪
Along with your channel I watch Ambition Strikes. They also are in North Idaho... and they just made an equipment shed out of two containers... on either side... and then roof trusses. I wonder if that might be something you'd consider putting over there by your propane tanks somewhere. It seems like you might need the extra storage... and shelter to keep your equipment out of the snow or something. Not a half bad idea... and they clean up pretty good. Just a thought... I LOVE your channel... been following for years now, and I can't wait to see the new herd acclimate to its new home.
You need to put an arming over that front porch above the garage doors. That way, you could be out there working without the rain bothering you.
Do you mean awning?
Yep, I'm a professional grinder too. There's nothing wrong with that so long as you do gorilla welds like me haha
What about hun ters that come to yr area can you protect deer?
Why do you think he built a 10 foot high enclosed fence for them? Most Idaho hunters are smart enough not to shoot deer inside a fenced off area. 🤦♀️
I haven’t seen u group to the cabin this summer
As soon as that plow truck fired up I said big block...😉
if push comes to shove, they would be a very good resource of protein.
Goats 🐐
I was wondering if you thought maybe using something like a Holley sniper throttle body add ignition box might make that truck more reliable in the winter got a friend in Montana runs and old 70s C30 with a big block he rebuilt the engine and it kept just giving him grief in the winter he said last year he decided to put a Holley sniper an MSD ignition said he had zero problems in the worst winner he had ever seen just wondering
You should be building farm equipment heath, made in the USA
There are plenty of tradesman of a young age. There are fewer older tradesmen willing to train the younger generation tho. The old folk arent willing to help the next gen from my perceptive
that flat bed need some think heavy on the back in snow m8
Before you put any weight on that flatbed make sure you look at the driver side frame rail inside bottom. It looks like a big crack is in it.
Will another fallow deer rancher trade a couple of bucks to introduce new blood to both ranches?
Are those bucks going to be able to use that feeder with their antlers ?
Forgive me, I don't want to come across as ignorant, you're a much more intelligent being than I, but when moving animals around here we usually park the trailer on site with treats for a few days. I know different set up/different everything really, but for the sake of everyone - animals included I wish you the best of luck. Thanks for the great content, you'll never know what a great distraction from the daily hustle your videos mean to my family. We enjoy it tremendously.
Man that is one rough plow truck, l don't understand why he doesn't just put a western v plow on his red dodge and be done with it
I'm shocked you didn't paint your well-built hay feeder with some heavy-duty epoxy paint. Isn't that gonna be a rust bucket in a couple of months?
I guess I missed something ...missing Ruby in yalls videos !!!
now ypu need a roof outside in front of the shop.
Does anyone know if the chickens are gone as well.
Chickens are still around
You did a great job on the feeder. But don't you want to plug the holes so water doesn't sit in the pipes.
I still wanna know why back to the stock rims on ya Ram, them solid axles on them Rams always have bearings, ball joints and axles issues with big rims which is my only guess for the stock rims
Did you know one should disconnect the battery before electric welding on a vehicle?
Hey boss seams like the idle is a bit low or the floats are not set right on the ole ford.
We are also in the age where because of the internet and availabilty of information poeple can do most work themselves and dont need tradespeople as they did before
How many snow trucks now?
Can you harvest the nails and put them in your freezer?
Why does the arm of the Bobcat keep on sinking down? Just curious…I really know nothing😃
Since you no longer have goats, couldn’t you have just used the feeder you used for the goats?
It seems to me the most important thing you need to do now is to build a barn structure for those deer, at least I hope you’re planning to build something. ! If you’re going to own animals, even wild animals, you should treat them well. I think I’d put down a lot of gravel on your driveway and on that part of the road that gives you problems every year after the snow melt.
My guess is the guy that’s selling you the deer clearly knows how to capture and transfer them, so doubt you’ll have any problems he hasn’t faced.
There are a lot of us that like to do unique things, so can’t fault you for wanting to raise a few deer to look at. It’s pretty clear though that you guys have decided not to build a new home on your new lot, at least not anytime soon. Not sure what plans you have for the future, other than finishing and updating a few of your old projects and, building a new truck, but I look forward to see what you do in the future.
Unfortunately, I can’t do what my passions are because of age, a bad back, money, time where I live, etc. of course, I also don’t have a wife that will let me do whatever I want. Otherwise, I’d be doing similar to what you’re doing, minus working on multiple trucks and raising deer. Obviously we don’t know everything about you, but from what I’ve seen, you’ve created a very nice life for yourself and your family.
