I am overjoyed to see you back! I do not have Black Angel so I have no intention in playing it solo. However, your Pax Porfiriana tutorial is reference work. Which is even more remarkable since you made at the time when the rule book was virtually incomprehensible by mere mortals. I am looking forward to your future videos. EDIT: You are at least as good as you were six years ago. Thank you!
Hey, you are back!! Your video on Pax Porfiriana is the best explanation video for this game and maybe one of the best rules explanation vids I know. Then six years silence. Do you plan to stick around?
HI Claudius, Well first off thank you for the comment on Pax and thank you for not giving up on me for the last 6 years. I plan to stick around since I travel a lot less for work (even before all of the Coronavirus chaos came about). I'm looking at possibly putting something together for Pax Pamir down the road since it looks like they have a Kickstarter campaign for its reprint..
Great tutorial! One question. At 12:15 when Hal buys standard technology tiles, if available would he buy three value 1 tiles instead of a 2 and a 1? Thanks!
HI Dan, The rules for HAL in this situation state that he first has to buy a cost 2 technology tile if available if he has a two or three on his die. In the case of a three, he has to buy a technology tile first if available and then he can buy a 1 cost tile. I hope this helps and thanks for the comment!
@@ModernTablegamer Thanks for the reply. You're right and it clearly states this for taking advanced technology tiles but for standard ones it just says - "Take only Technology tiles. Hal takes tiles from the display starting with those closest to where they get ejected." I played it the same as you because it's hard enough already 🙂. Thanks again. Stellar video, helped immensely.
When Hal's neutralization cards get ejected, does he also get the reward in addition to the 3 points he gets from the ejection of the card? In the example of the video, 3 points + the points for the 3 resources?
I found the dice production / dice placement interesting. This was the first game I ever played with that mechanism, but would be interested to see how this is used in other games. Have you ever played solo against HAL?
@@ModernTablegamer Yes we test this game a lot, we test like 6 times waiting for the magic to appear but players get frustrated. The dice placement it's a mechanics that come from Troyes, but they add a lot of senseless minigames and abstract mechanics that the mix doesn't work.
Hey man, great to see you back!
Thanks Iain! And thanks for sticking with my channel for all of these years.

do u just take the kill ravager action every turn to beat HAL?
We had high hopes about Blackangel.... unfortunately all our groups hate it to the bones. Looks awesome on paper but not at all on the table... :(

Im sad that you are not using the chopsticks to pick up dice…
Oops. I just noticed that this was an early video… sorry
You’re right. This one pre dates chopsticks. More of that action to come :)

Howdy!
Also thanks for being a subscriber for all of these years!!!
