Roger is so right about connecting to younger crowd. (When he owned California speedway would let fans with a pretty basic ticket to go on track and walk down to the pit wall , sign the wall and finish line. I was 9 or 10 and just fell in love with the experience and now I am a racing fan for life. Thank you Roger! And thank Zak for a great conversation!
Insane interview I could listen to these two for hours! Zak has certainly done an outstanding job with McLaren bringing them back to INDYCAR and the front of F1 and Rodger just being an absolutely legend of motorsport! Can we get more please aha !
I was at Road America when Penske was running the Porsche RS Spyders. Race day Sunday morning one of the Penske crew members was detail cleaning one of the transporters. He had the engine cover open and engine bay was spotless. All of the chrome was shinning in the morning sun. The entire truck looked better than new. Every team in the paddock looked organized and professional, but Penkse was at another level. It left an impression on me. That's the quality of people Penske has working for him.
Mr Penske is a classy guy and a legend and no one can fill his shoes. So happy that Mr Penske is the IndyCar and Indy500 owner, he and his team seems to have his pulse on the industry. So true about "Date Equity" and the diversification of the series and regardless if you are an IndyCar, F1, Trans Am, Nascar, Drag Racing, IMSA, World of Outlaw, Off Road, Motorcycle, SuperCarV8, GP2, local dirt track racing fan......whatever you are...he hit the nail on the head in that we (wether you are just a fan or in the industry) have got to get the young fan engaged in racing...This is imperative. Get out and visit a track, any track, Without the younger generation our sport dies...dont ever forget that
I've been a fan of Roger Penske since the 70's. A genius man who has lived a clean, positive life. We call him "Captain" because he's a great leader and example. Thank you Mr Brown for this interview.
Really a privilege to watch these two guys! And a privilege for Zak to enjoy interviewing this Titan of auto racing Mr Roger Penske. Thank you for sharing.
I love the style of this interview: two people at the top of their field, who respect each other, having a conversation. CNN and Fox should learn how to do this.
Roger Penske is a living legend in motorsports and if Mclaren keeps their upward trend going so will Zak. Two interesting, motivated individuals right there.
Absolutely Love this!. Sipping my coffee I feel like im in the middle of that roundtable, feel a bit wiser after watching this clip!. Thank You Mclaren and Zac Brown a truly inspirational Boss!.
Fun thing, I use to work for Penske back in 00's at the Poole Branch, we use to make the heat shielding for McLaren Mercedes to help out a little. It was a funny little crossover between the teams, who had a close relationship from the Marlborough and Mercedes days.
Great interview. I grew up with Rick Mears (and the Mears Gang) in Bakersfield. I’m a little disappointed to hear the comments about diversity. Not every ethnicity is interested in racing. Just provide the environment for equality of opportunity, not equality of outcome. Mr. Penske walks the talk and is truly the most approachable leader I have had the privilege to meet. Thank you, Zak for this genuine interview.
Loved the interview. Roger Penske has an amazing business mind and he is a true racer. I've been following both Indycar in all it's iterations and Formula 1 since the early 60s. It seems though that young people have no interest in motor racing. I think Roger Penske is right; appealing to a younger crowd and focusing on sustainability is crucial for the sport to continue. Thank you Zak Brown for the interview.
I read a shout-out in the comments to bring back Pocono …. I would love to see Riverside Raceway back, and for the second US city for F1 I would like to see them at Watkins Glen.
Glenn would be sweet but will they go anywhere that isn’t a state of the art facility like cota, just look at the places they race they are ridiculous lol but I’d love to see it
@@KillyJoe Yea, have to agree with you. I’ve been to two F1 COTA races and drive accessibility was/is awful which is precisely what Mr Penske eludes to. When/if F1 ever gets off it’s high horse and be “real”, they would be even more successful. To your point, I’ve never understood why the majority of racing venues aren’t current with the gate and concession sales. There is so much racing history and appreciation with the American fan. Maybe Mr Penske should buy The Glenn next😉.
Although generally Zak is a good businessman, but he’s missing something to run properly the F1 operations, I think. Business side, budget and profit are important, but it’s not all and not enough for the win… Something he can probably learn from Penske… Great respect for Roger! 👍🏻
Does anybody notice that during the 90s between IndyCar & Formula 1, Team Penske and McLaren-Mercedes had the same Marlboro livery and thinking that Team Penske was McLaren-Mercedes brother
when my cousin and i raced go karts and they were my karts im the owner and he didnt do well i would say i need to make a driver change he would say ok ROGER and his name is Rick , he would say i dont think Roger would fire RICK MEEEEEAAAAARS ,he makes a good point
the fact that penske is not in f1 at the moment says a lot about the state of f1 . its not a question of resource , penske corp is 10x the size of mclaren group by revenue . but look at hass dumping money down the drain, its not even close to a viable business proposition at this time
Massive respect to Penske But my mans starting to look like Emperor Palpatine. Also if he’s trying to get more diversity I’ve got a madlad idea. Poach Bubba from NASCAR
Idk if Bubba's good enough. I'd love it if he, by some miracle, got Lewis Hamilton to compete. That would really bring the eyes of new fans to IndyCar.
Roger you living legend that you are, thank you Zak for making this possible... thank you all for sharing 🙌
Roger Penske is a class act.
Roger is a legend
Roger Penske is a good man and a legend, born racer and I hope he holds the reins for many more years
Roger is so right about connecting to younger crowd. Love that interview with my uncle
A really excellent interview.

Humility, Intellect and a wonderful vision for the sport. The Captain is really an Admiral.
Zak Brown is The Captains protege. Indycar is in a great place.

I could listen to them for hours.
This man could simply count to 10 and it would be interesting and you would learn something you didn’t know. Legend!
Roger Penske has far out performed his rank as Captain. He is a five star Admiral now. :)
He is the man.I remember those cars w/ Revvson & Donahue.very fast & if mark had lived would have enjoyed much success.
Well said.
Roger is still sharp as hell. Zak Brown has done great work, love the Indy/F1 connection McLaren has created.
Really a privilege to watch these two guys! And a privilege for Zak to enjoy interviewing this Titan of auto racing Mr Roger Penske. Thank you for sharing.
Some great insight into the future-looking mind of Roger Penske. Thanks to both of you for posting this conversation.
Met Roger a few times, a amazing men

Thanks Zak. Great interviewing skills btw.
Indycar is in great hands.
Congrats Helio!
Wow, thanks so much for posting!
What I like about Roger he talks like a fan.
Legendary interview!

F1 is the fastest growing sport on social media. period.

What are holes in table for?
When Zak freaking Brown turn into a fanboy
Although generally Zak is a good businessman, but he’s missing something to run properly the F1 operations, I think. Business side, budget and profit are important, but it’s not all and not enough for the win… Something he can probably learn from Penske… Great respect for Roger! 👍🏻

Looks like Zak learned a bit after being totally embarrassed in 2019 for underestimating what it takes to race there successfully.
Roger Penske is the king of IndyCar but it's a shame Marlboro has left and this series could have been named Marlboro IndyCar Series.
If the United States ever has a chance at an actually competitive F1 team, it would have to be run by Penske.
Bradley so right. Let’s start a Go Fund Me page contingent on Roger running a team.
when my cousin and i raced go karts and they were my karts im the owner and he didnt do well i would say i need to make a driver change he would say ok ROGER and his name is Rick , he would say i dont think Roger would fire RICK MEEEEEAAAAARS ,he makes a good point
Penske F1 with Porsche??????dream team
the fact that penske is not in f1 at the moment says a lot about the state of f1 . its not a question of resource , penske corp is 10x the size of mclaren group by revenue . but look at hass dumping money down the drain, its not even close to a viable business proposition at this time
Please, i really need spanish subtitles :(
provide UA-cam subtitles please
Can you believe Roger is 84?
Hey Rog, bring back Pocono please.
Indy needs to become like American F1 sort of.
Shorter races
Roger always Copy/Penske'd from McLaren from the beginning to the end... ongoing
Massive respect to Penske
But my mans starting to look like Emperor Palpatine.
Also if he’s trying to get more diversity I’ve got a madlad idea.
Poach Bubba from NASCAR
