    Where do you get the marbles that you use in the box filters? Thanks!

      Actually, since they are rarely found as a toy any longer, I get them from the garden sections of stores - like you would pot narcissus in. People tell me you can usually find them in dollar stores as well.

    Your shipping procedures are the best I've ever seen. The Odessa Barbs that you sent me back in October showed up the next day in very good condition. The packaging was top notch to say the least. I actually put out a video of them same Odessa Barbs today on my new channel. I couldn't have been happier with them. Such a beautiful fish and thank you for helping me out with them this past week.

    Nice video, Greg. What size and type of breather bags do you use? I stopped using them altogether after Kordon stopped making the 5x8.

    Why do you need a license for the styrofoam boxes?

    • @gregsage9696
      @gregsage9696 4 роки тому

      The license for the Astros allows me to go into secure areas and restricted areas of the University to collect boxes. Most institutions wish to restrict who come in and take things. Greg Sage, selectaquatics.com

    Wow chuck seems like a real piece of work. Sorry you had to go through that, anyone who I’ve ever seen a video of you or heard of you has only said nothing but nice things about your shipping! Anyway, one of those bags I think are mine! Super excited to get those Montezumae!! I will do an unboxing video of it. Thank you Greg and keep up the good work my friend!

    Great video! So happy you addressed the box filters. I've been thinking of getting some since I first encountered your website about a month ago. Please correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't siphoning mulm once a week for example be better than letting the box filter collect mulm for an entire month? Sure it's nice to have the box filter clear up the tank bottom but it's still in the system. And that's my only concern. Thank you :)

    • @selectaquaticsoferie
      @selectaquaticsoferie  6 років тому +1

      Keeping a tank relatively clean is always a good thing, but with the box filters you have consistency. That is nearly as important for the fish as keeping the tank clean. You can ultimately be more consistent with regular siphoning, but overall you will likely find that though the box filters are allowed to become dirty, they will keep your conditions more consistent than going in and doing siphoning. We all get busy...other priorities intervene...
      With box filters they are always working well for you 24/7.

    Thank you - For some reason there will always be those trying to get something they are not entitled to, and fortunately they are few and far between. It was a win-win for me, though it didn't seem like it at the time! You know who you are - I will not only accept an apology, I will mention your coming forward in a future video - without mentioning your name, unless you want me to -

    I like how you use your box filters. I have an old eheim pickup internal canister filter I use the same way. It does the mechanical filtering in the tank along with my regular canister prefilter; and both of those are cleaned at least every two weeks. I prefer to remove the waste before it has a chance to break down completely. No surprises on the shipping - shipping is expensive, no way around that. (unless your Amazon). Looking forward to Amica splendins!

    I ordered and have used the exact same Jehmco box filter Greg has recommended from Jehmco for the past 6 months with a great deal of success! It's great to share knowledge and learn from others within the hobby...
