My 2000 s500 is doing the same thing now. I tried to start it a few times and stopped. I'll try your method now, give it some time to see if a blessing falls out of the sky. 👍
I had the same issue and they said it was the crankshaft or cam sensor. Ended up being a misfiring cylinder. Had it replaced and it starts like it’s brand new.
I have a 2003 Mercedes S500..my car had the same issue..wouldn’t start for days then randomly would start..there was an issue with the damaged FOB I was using and the car wasn’t connecting to the FOB. I used an extra FOB with new batteries and now my car starts. Also, if the inside of your FOB is dirty, it will cause the same issue, it needs taken apart and cleaned. Hope this helps.
We have a 2000 S500 with the same problem of not starting. We let more time go by but still no crank or start. Checked with Info Scan/OBDII and have No Codes. What Relay did you replace?
I replaced crank shaft position sensor a few years ago. The symptoms were different. The starter would spin, but not engage. BTW, the delayed starting problem was going on before I replaced the CPS and now continues after.
i have a 04 s500.. my taillights stay on and the battery ends up dead all the time. once i jump it, it runs smooth until the srs message pops up and radio shuts off, turn signals don’t work, and much of the electrical things like windows won’t go down. i’m not sure what the problem could be..
I know im late.. if you removed the battery and esp and bas lights come on ..all you need to do is to a turn the steering wheel all the way to the left and immediately turn it to the right, then back to the center position ..( do this kinda fast).. that will resynchronize the sensors .. then get out your obd2 scanner and plug it into the port under the dash on the driver side .. see what codes are showing .. it looks like your ignition switch and key are not sync together..ignition switches maybe a issue.. but look for obd2 codes first !!!!
What relay!?!? I am also in Southern California and I have the same issue with mine. After trying so much I eventually bit the bullet and took it to a dealership service department and they gave my car back to me in the same condition a week later and charged me $430 for the pleasure ... So now I am in the same position. Have changed all fuses and now will begin changing relays
@@GarciaLaHabra part I have the same problem and for me it is not the relay you indicated (electronics relay) I replaced and the problem persists. however, your method works 100%. Has anyone found a different solution to the problem?

@God Son they cant tell you if the eis is bad they only test if the eis is communicating with the key..eis communication to the Computer is your issue,, so plan on Computer or EIS or both i have done both in the past for my customers and also have done individually.. you will need star diagnostic to confirm
proposes to remove the ignition switch and leave it on the warm radiator for some time, when it is warm, install it and check if the car fires. in my case it worked and it was the ignition switch that was to blame. PROCESSOR IN THE STATION FOR REPLACEMENT AND PROGRAMMING
Scan the car, it will tell you what the issue may be. If the gear in which the car is in (next to time display) does not show it is likely the gear selector or the EIS

Did the logo on the radio come on when the car would not crank
Everything came on as normal until the key was turned to the start position and the bad relay didn’t close until it warmed up.
@@GarciaLaHabra so it was a bad starter relay, now it makes sense, thank you for clearing that up for me, I just ordered a new relay

wire or ground point corrosion can cause such problems or the fuse board would push a small wd40
