People with diabetes have trouble controlling blood sugar, insulin is needed to low blood sugar. Insulin can cause low blood sugar not diabetes. Do people with diabetes usually have high blood sugar without insulin not low?
Yes , they have high blood sugar and in type1 diabetes(juvenile onset) they have no insulin due to pancreas not producing insulin hence why they are insulin dependent. Type 2 patients can also in later stages stop producing insulin but usually it’s due to insulin resistance.
in diabetes people cant produce enough insulin or they are insulin resistant. when you eat food your blood sugar increases and insulin balances it. Glucagon on the other hand normalises blood sugar when it is too low. and ya if you have diabetes type 2 just stick to external insulin never shift to medicine ( for your family) its much safe
Nice video, but you could have also talked about their Nazi history and why they’re so expensive. Recently did a deep dive on the company where I found that out.
I spent a couple of summers in Wilkes Barre PA when I was younger and the father in the family I stayed with was born the same year insulin went on the market otherwise he wouldn't have survived....
@@fanban2926 I gathered that. I guess what I’m asking without explicitly asking is why mention Ozempic? This was a fine documentary that used a clickbait title to drive viewership by mentioning a controversial drug.
@@loganshirley1200 Ozempic and Wegovy are the same drug chemically but prescribed for different uses: Ozempic for diabetes and Wegovy for weight loss. Ozempic is used in the title because many, many people either think that Ozempic is the one for weight loss or know the difference but still say Ozempic to refer to both (because Ozempic was first and used off-label for weight loss).
Sorry, but this trend to highly overrate little benefits is true for EVERY SINGLE DRUG COMPANY! I am an MD for almost 30 years and saw all kinds of drugs come and go over this time period. Many were first called "revolutionary". And I saw all the graphs that were so misleading it hurt my eyes! Very nice to cover a European company for once, there are a lot of other companies too that you can cover in future videoes, however I do feel there are points which are misleading / inaccurate / not mentioned: 4:10 the chart shows the US price and the articles and people are talking about Americans, I feel most of the prices discussed has been from the american perspective, how does it compare with other countries? Are other countries also talking about how expensive the insulin? I think it would be relevant to compare how European public reaction to the Europe's Largest company. I do agree that is insane price hikes, but I have never seen a European or Asian talk about the prices being unaffordable. 6:24 yeah, statistics can be misleading, it is very often that news papers and companies "misuse" percentages. at 7:33 is plain wrong. Your statement of what it says, is wrong. It literally says the same information you bring up afterwards, so you calling a fictive statement misleading is misleading in itself. ( 7:50 ) "the drug only helped this small, specific gorup, not all overweight adults." but it never claimed to help all overweight adults, the article and screenshot you show literally say; it is overweights adults over 45 years old with known heart problems. 8:00 I don't quite see the problem with Novo funding researchers to check how effective the drugs are. The only issue would be if the researcher didn't disclose it. A lot of medical research is funded by the medical companies. It is known that people who regulate the market gets their funding from the industry. 12:25 the thing with sandwiching information is everywhere. I wouldn't call it bad practice, as it is the normal practice in every company announcement. The information was given, just being sandwiched.
Mhmm the prices you mention are all in dollars, an example city is Detroit, Europe has a health care system unlike the US so a monopoly driving prices continuesly up is not possible -doesnt fit the title. So you trying to convice people before the insulin injections, doctors and scientists had no clue about blood sugar levels being relatively controllable with sugar and high intensity physically activity. So everyone with diabetes died within weeks yet diabetes up to today is often not diagnosed for weeks without everyone affected dying. Your third point is also about the US and if no one is told about a side effect, no doctor knows the side effect how would half doctors know about it and not the rest?
I hadn't heard of them, but people seem to have generally? A poll with 4 options to see if one has heard of them and if they are from europe could be cool
