At this point it is just the way you play these games. These games are meant to be like table top rpgs you can pull out and play any time (only you don't need friends to play with). They try to keep it fresh on repeat playthroughs by not giving everything away on the first.
In the final fight we see Miquella with 4 arms just like Ranni, they both speak of the same term “thousand year voyage guided by” compassion/stars. And you get the “let us go together” gesture once your heart is stolen by Miquella. The exact same line Ranni says in the age of stars ending. Please talk about this! Seems like too many similarities for it not to mean something to me… *Edit:* I’ve been told Miquella’s 4th arm is fading away it isn’t complete…. as we know he’s cursed with nascency, so perhaps him not having 4 arms is yet another depiction of this, perhaps he was inspired by Ranni to some extent and that’s why he wanted to have 4 arms as she has, but even at the divine gate, he still couldn’t complete his ideal form. Or perhaps it’s just a side affect of him divesting his flesh and what made him him across the realm of shadow, and now even in his spirit form he’s no longer complete, shown in his cut off arm.
It's because both Ranni and Miquella's goals were the same. To create an age of their own. Ranni makes us her consort to usher the age of stars whereas Miquella makes Radahn his consort to usher the age of compassion. To become a God, one has to divest themselves of their physical body which is why Ranni and Miquella only exist spiritually which might be a reason as to why they have four arms.
Theres also cut dialogue for the second phase cutscene of miquella in which he uses the exact same terms as ranni in the age of stars ending, i dont really understand why they made these connections between miquella and ranni except for that they are both aiming to make completely new ages
I dont think it matters too much, but Miquella actually has 3 arms: 2 “spirit” ones around radahn and 1 “physical” to cast spells. We know he’s entirely a spirit because he abandoned his body, but some parts seem more physical for some reason
@@excalibur2596 Huh, but did Marika divest herself of her own flesh? Does this have something to do with her being crucified inside the erdtree? It seems like Marika never did divest herself of her body, which seems contradictory to what you're saying. Unless I'm missing something.
@@arch8842 we don't know if she actually did divest her flesh but it's possible she sacrificed Radagon for that as Radagon is most likely Messmers father so he had to have been existing in tge land of shadow. Maybe she divested Radagon and then Radagon rejoined with Marika in the lands between. It's all a theory at the end of the day and we don't have concrete answers because the dlc didnt give us many important answers.
It is quite some irony if you think about how zio complained about "being spoiled by some jerks" just a week ago and now he is basically doing it himself. Have to say it is quite unfortunately that Radahn is such a iconic character. Just the picture is enough to get him recognised even if ou have not yet seen the new design. Garden of eyes spoiled me with his damn thumbnail on day one. i hate it. Sure it might be obvious from the hints but the moment of realisation is still something i would have loved to experience myself and not this way.
Even though this is not relevent to the video whatsoever, I saw an interesting theory claiming that, the wounds on Metyr's belly was caused by the fingerslayer blade and that the high treason committed by the Eternal City was that very act. If this is to be true, it'd be indeed mindblowing.
Metyr had the elden ring in its eye There's a good chance Marika attacked Metyr with the Nox to take the elden ring, or when she found out metyr was false
I have an antspur rapier with poison on it. Builds up poison first and then scarlet rot. Helped a bunch of players beat the final boss. But the good thing was that those players were good enough in their own to at least hold off his onslaught for a couple of seconds. Then there are hundreds others who were too impatient to mindlessly trying to land hits on him.
I cannot believe I missed that connection between Midra's theme and the Nomadic Merchants' song. That just makes an awesome battle so much more powerful.
A lot of people say the motif is only near the end of the song, but if you listen closely the entire midra ost is like a remix of the frenzy merchant song from start to finish. You can really hear it in the background vocals in phase 1, its the same melody as the strings but faster
i think midra actually tried to supress the frenzied flame, his lacking "strength" in that he wasnt "brave" enough to embrace it. with him keeping the flame in check until we arrive and fight him
Well Godwyn's body is twisted and mangeled within the roots of the Erdtree and his soul is just dead. Believe me i wanted godwyn as well but it just wouldn't work.@nemesisundead83
Womp womp the dlc takes place in the land where people go when they die (or some shit). You have to kill radahn and mohg to play the dlc. Put 2 and 2 together (literally) and it isnt really a spoiler. Also you meet freyja like 5 seconds into the dlc how could you not tell radahn comes back and knowing fromsoft why would they redo radahn unless to make him in his semi prime form to fuck with everyone which would be harder than most things in the game. Shocker strong dead guy is final boss in the dead people area
@@ghastlyanarchy1720 yeah I kinda figured that but at the same time we should have seen more of Mogh in Radahn than we got phase 2 understandable phase 1 naw man there not even using Radahns body it's Moghs
@@ghastlyanarchy1720 They could have given a explanation of how the eclipse would maybe allow miquella to resurrect Godwyns soul. Its the land of shadow. If there was a place to resurrect a soul it was there. They could have even put the eclipse effect on the sky of the shadow lands. And just like he used mohgs body for Radahn it could have been use for Godwyn. It could have work. It would have also explain why miquella wanted his dead brother Godwyn back in the base game.
I always feel like the Sword of Darkness and Light are a reference to Shadow of the Colossus. Light weapon art is like when you lift up your sword to search a colossus. The dark with its fog is like the fog of the Sword of Dormin and the black fog in general.
@@bobdobbz9334in the Shadow of the Colossus remake there is a new sword you can get called the Sword of Dormin. Its blade is made of shadows. The Sword of Darkness is most likely a reference to that instead of the Queen’s Sword.
The Miquella’s Rune Effect was a massive tip for me, I frequently struggle against Radahn’s grab attack. When the animation starts I know that I’m supposed to avoid it but I always get distracted by the thought of Miquella’s hunky himbo half brother husband giving me a bear hug while Miquella himself strokes my head and whispers sweetly in my ears and by the time I snap out of it I end up with my heart stolen.
Another thing about Rellana's theme is that it contains some music elements from SotE original reveal trailer.(specifically music when the Dancing Lion is shown)
When it comes to the OSTs, I think Promised Consort Radahn's theme is by far the most interesting one as it heavily reflects the lore. It literally combines motifs from both Starscourge Radahn and Mohg's themes - reflecting how Mohg's body was used as a vessel for Radahn's soul.
I think it would be nice, that if you did the questline, Trina thanks us by the time we win the fight. Just a whisper in our ear out of nowhere. Maybe even really, really subtle and quiet, so not everyone hears it. That would be cool.
it would be REALLY cool if we do the quest line and st trina gives us a weapon that's highly effective against the 2nd phase or even better yet a piece of armor that would protect you a bit against having your heart stolen and if you beat the boss while wearing that piece of armor you get the whisper of st trina thanking us.
I am not sure Merika built the Divine Pillars. We know that decimation of the Hornsent happened after the end of Liurnian wars because of Relanna's Remembrance (I think) mentioned that she followed Messmer into combat. The Carians and the Golden Order weren't aligned until after Rennala and Radagon's marriage. Merika ascended to godhood long before that, meaning the Pillars of Divinity were constructed long before then. If the above is correct, the fact that the Pillars of Creation seem to be mostly Hornset was not a decision Merika made, and was more likely something the Hornsent did it to themselves.
Its a little weird to be considerate enough to give a spoiler warning for the final boss near the end of the video, but then put the final boss's second phase on the thumbnail for people to be spoiled by as they scroll their feed. I know there are still plenty of people who havent reached the final boss yet, so it seems unreasonable to put him in the thumbnail. Besides that, great video, always a pleasure to watch
I have not yet seen anyone compare Enir Ilim to the Eternal Cities extensively enough. Not only in terms of the bodies infused into the architecture, but also the inverted towers. They can be clearly seen in Nokron, which makes for an interesting parallel - Enir Ilim is a city in the sky, which was involved in ascending Empyreans to godhood; while Nokron is a city deep below the ground, which was directly involved in an attempt to assassinate a god or its vassal (the Fingerslayer Blade used to kill/harm something or someone related closely to the Greater Will). And additionally, Marika is a Numen, to whom the Nox are directly related
Something i also find interesting is the fact that the colors of the lower part of the Lands of Shadows are in red and blue with Charos Hidden Grave and the Cerulean Coast. These places feel like they have more connection with death than any other place with a Deathbird, Tiber Mariner, Gravebirds, those Graveshadow enemies with crabs on their head. Well these 2 colors are in relation with the Twinbird the mother of Deathbirds. The feather talismans and the twinbird shild hint at these colors.
Zio, did you know the bodies/roots at the end of each Catacomb in the base game are not roots of the Erdtree, but roots of the Greattree? And that is a distinction with a difference, as explained by the item description of root resin.
I've been behind in finishing SoTE, currently fighting the final boss and am now coming around to lore videos. I was obsessed with overlaying the maps for a few days. And if they are meant to GENERALLY fit together, maybe not perfectly, there are definitely a lot of implications. The big one for me is the crater in the Hinterlands. I think that's specifically where Marika planted/cast the Erdtree once she established the Golden Order. And I think that makes the Scadutree literally its shadow. I posted on reddit about how we could place markers between the two lands at the trees and that crater and estimate where the Scadutree was in the Lands Between before the two lands were pulled apart. Seems like it could have been in the ravine between Leyndell and the Mountaintops with the Forbidden Lands running along its base. The place where the Helphen light is found! Could be completely off, but maybe not.
When I researched the etymology for Enir-Ilim, I found almost no sources for "Enir." The only two things of note were an 1862 book of Scottish surnames that said it could mean "chieftain", and a site claiming it could mean "great warrior" as a variant of the Swedish "Enar," which itself seemed to be a variant of a variant and so on. In contrast, "Ilim" seemingly originates from an Akkadian name for Babylon, Bab-Ilim, or "Gate of (the) God(s)." Taken together, Enir-Ilim might mean "Chieftain God(s)" or "Great Warrior God(s)." What did you find that indicates it might mean the name you posted? I enjoy learning about the deeper meanings and origins of these names.
10:13 the great rot pots do work in phase 2. However, it’s the timing to throw them that’s tricky. For me, phase 1 became a cakewalk and so I used the pots for phase 2 because I struggled to find timing to get hits in. It took 2 back to back pots when he starts floating into the air for the nuke. However, I had to have the health and holy resistance to just eat the explosion, but it worked and that’s part of how I beat phase 2.
Here is one, man. Right when you get that Miquella pose “let’s go together”, when you spawn, Perform it. The shape is the entire ShadowErdTree is that Pose. It matches very well with your body. So cool.
As for the map, Miyazaki said before launch that the Land of Shadow was physically a part of the Lands Between until Marika sealed it off. I don't think the actual Land of Shadow map is to scale with the Lands Between's map, but considering how vertically layered the Land of Shadow's map is, and how the interior angle of the Lands Between keeps elevating as you progress from Limgrave to Lyndale i do believe that they did fit perfectly at one point. However Modern Day Lands Between has structures built several where the Lands of Shadow would normally occupy such as the Divine Towers that throw off the overlay.
tip for second phase from a mad man, scarlet aoenia will proc rot on second phase, you have enough time to do it when the light nuke is charging. problem, you will get hit solution, physyk tears that reduce damage will effectively tank the attack if your willing to sacrifice the physyk for this stunt as second phase starts, chug the physyk and cast the incantation. If he doesnt do the light nuke, retry until he does.
The DLC seemed to be full of references to Dark Souls 1,2 and 3 and Bloodborne. They like, re-used enemies, and some enemies and bosses were homages to DS bosses. The dancing chick in the mausoleum was the dancer from DS 3, the scorpion chick was Queelag, the ancient dragon man was a reference to an item from DS1 that turned you into (the same looking) dragon, Relanna was PONTIFF SULLIVAN, Putrescent knight was Orphan of Chaos, the Eyeballs Madness things were FROM BLOODBORNE. Also, mother of fingers reminded me of one of the giant alien Bloodborne bosses. And probably some more. I suppose i could just be making connections that arent there, its possible
One that you missed, soundtrack-wise. Scadutree Avatar OST is a remix of the Erdtree Avatar OST. As for my favorite in the DLC? I have to go with Divine Beast, Midra and the final boss. And YES. They should have kept that St Trina ending in it.
Another thing that I noticed during the Radahn fight, if you summon Thiollier and he dies during the fight, his last words are "please, fulfill saint Trina's wish." I think it means Thiollier finally managed to speak with saint Trina at last and she asked him to aid the tarnished in the final confrontation.
One thing I love about Elden ring and the DLC, is that I have spent a lot of time exploring (without a guide pointing out all the secrets and what not, unless I am stuck and looking for something specific), and I still see things that I never saw in my play through.
One cool secret is how the Scudutree avatar mimics the Scudutree when it does its explosion attack in the third phase as it looks almost identical to the position that the Scudutree is in.
The Maps indeed are overlapped. My friend is one of the the map editors of ER DLC. They were told to make the DLC map matches the center of ER map so that they can overlap.
for the closure i think Thiollier should have been waiting for you at St. Trinas, having finally heard her voice, thanking you both for her services and asking him to pass on her final message to you
Midra's phase 2 is my favourite ost of the entire dlc, it's also very reminiscent of Bloodborne. I love the heavy bass and strings in this piece so much.
1. I can't believe Rakshasa was one of the 3 bosses I missed in my playthrough. 2. I can't believe an armor set that outright increases your damage has over 50 poise altogether. I probably still wouldn't use the set because the character I was playing was using Lionel's helm and drip > stat boosts, but I probably woulda tried on the gloves and pants. I definitely way prefer not hearing thanks from St. Trina. We did exactly as asked and we, as the Tarnished (I guess) can find solace knowing we fulfilled her request, even if we aren't with her when she also dies. I think it's more impactful. Not everything needs a moment. I enjoyed it and it was the first place I went after the DLC. (Though I am still in the camp of it feeling "Is that it?" after watching Miquella's cutscene)
It would be cool if we get the St. Trina’s cut dialogue when we defeat Miquella by using Velvet sword of St. Trina. It’s like Miquella can finally rest in the arms of his true love eternally.
I'm really proud that the only boss that i missed was the scadutree avatar, and this is without looking up anything about the dlc prior to its release (aside from the trailer and theories before release)
One more OST comparison that you didn't mention is actually that a movement of Romina's theme is almost exactly the same as Malenia's theme musically, showing the God of Rot's connection between them both. I think you'll know exactly which part it is if you listen to all of Romina's theme!
Another theme that contains a main game motif is Romina who carries over Malenia’s motif. This kinda led to people thinking it was less Malenia’s theme and moreso the rot itself’s theme. Which is an interesting mindset to have regarding the other tracks as well, especially with Rennala and Rellana.
I absolutely adore the Raksasha armor but have tried not to use it to much for fear of the damage taken penalty but it’s great to hear it’s actually pretty negligible, I’ll wear it and the Messmer helmet with pride :3
You can literally see in your menu when you equip Rakshasa amor. That it reduces your damage absorption... See how much you have without it, add the values given by the armour and you'll see about 2% decrease in damage absorption stat.
You can find eye balls that are imprinted by the three fingers in the manor as well that can be used as crafting items. So were the 3 fingers in the land of shadow or the manor at some point
I can't help but notice the similarity between Marika and Miquella. Marika and Radagon were 2 halves of one person. Similarly Miquella (npcs in the DLC use 'him' for Miquella) and his discarded half St. Trina (I think Thiollier uses 'her' for St. Trina) were 2 halves of one person as well. Marika destroyed the elden ring while Radagon tried to mend it. Similarly St. Trina wants us to destroy Miquella while Miquella is trying to 'fix' the world in his mind. Maybe its like cycle of linking the fire in dark souls games. It just keeps repeating in elden ring universe somehow with destroting and mending.
Regarding Midra's theme: In the OST, the 10 seconds immediately before the section you played is actually a reversed and pitch shifted sample of the merchant's theme!
something you didn't mention about Rakshasa's armor, it also give you Shabribri's Woe effect... where the enemies are always focused on you no matter what else is going on around them. And since this effect is either on or off, it benefits more to just wear the whole set instead of just one piece because you're going to get this effect no matter if you have just one piece of the armor on or the whole set. Love the series, you do a great job! Cheers! 🍻
@@nayyarrashid4661 yes, if you have the armor on and have a summon that isn't the mimic tear with same armor, the boss will ignore your summon no matter what... and that works vice versa, if you summon mimic tear with this armor on and you change your armor the boss (any/all enemies) will ignore you and attack your mimic exclusively unless you put a piece of this armor back on and then the enemies attention will be split.
@@nayyarrashid4661 it can be a tough fight, so if you're having trouble a small piece of advice when fighting the giver of this armor, try Jump Attack.
To address your overlap of the land of shadow and lands between I havent been able to make or find a high quality cutout of the lands of shadow map, but i think it would fit pretty well if you rotated it 90° counterclockwise That would put jagged peak in the large empty mountain area next to forbidden lands and that would connect the broadest side of scadu Altus directly against the bottom of the base game altus It would also put gravesite plains directly against the top of limgrave and would put both Liurinia and Isolated divine towers on land and would put the suppressing pillar much closer to the center Theres also a suspiciously large inaccessible empty land space just below the first staircase into Lyndell that has always bothered me that would also almost perfectly fit the isolated plateau you reach after killing gaius, which is where that would be if the map was rotated, that would also put the oddly altus colored landmass connected to altus and would connect the large structure found there to West Altus Divine Tower Also given the height differences, it would out Finger Ruins Of Dheo underneath Lyndell, though idk if it puts it deep enough to reach the 3 Fingers This rotation would also put the only coasts in the land of shadow out facing the ocean to the east, the southernmost landmass reaching under Farum Greatbridge and wrapping around beastial sanctum I only have one single gripe with this near perfect placement which is it puts belurat and inir-ilim next to stormveil which aside from the connection that it could have just been a massive castle that reached stormveil, belurat, and where Faram Azula used to be(given it's ruins are scattered over limgrave) i would say that only way it makes since is if all three were once one giant castle or were at least all next to eachother, though i dont really sit well with that Though to counter that, it would put Shaman Village against southern altus and it keeps Grand Altar Of Dragon Communion connected to Caelid and the southern region where the other two communion locations are Its also worth the thought to know that it might not take up every bit of water, there may have been water spaced between
I really like the belurat tower settlement track and romina saint of the bud. balurat is very ominous and strong, the low chants really sells the ruin the tower settlement is currently reduced to. Rominas sound track honestly reminds me of malenias theme which makes sense since Romina is also a rot enthusiast.
i think the supressing pillar has something to with the Great Rune Towers, if you pay attention, all towers placements form a hexagon, so i think the supressing pillar should be placed exaclty in the center of the hexagon, the center of the lands between
I think the sunflower theme is a violin version of the theme that plays when you fight some horse riding knights, and its also really good. I'm not sure what the third part is a play on though, had me feeling bad for a sunflower
Radahn can still get scarlet rot in phase 2, he just gets considerably more resistence but big sources like a scarlet aeonia can still proc it in 1 hit (unless you have npc summons which increase the threshold)
Seems like using Radagon's theme for Messmer answers the question about who his father was. In the other cases you mentione the music is pointing out a connection - Rennala/Rellana, Midras/The Wanderers. Reuse of themes in the trailers connected Marika's ascension to the Elden Beast. I think using Radagon's music for Messmer has to be deliberate.
I’m so interested in St Trina’s lore and that whole quest and area around her along with the whole Abyssal Forest Frenzy Flame but too Putrescent Knight and Metyr Mother of Fingers have my favorite tracks.
Fun Fact: The 1st Phase of Radahn's final battle has the same note patterns of the Godskin Duo boss, which is an interesting mockery because they're both characters wearing the skin/bodies of another character in battle... it's super awesome when you listen to them both! Figured you'd like that one Zio haha, keep up the awesome vids! 😀
When I finished the DLC I decided to start a new playthrough of Elden Ring to get the 4 trophies I'm missing. It's good that the DLC doesn't have trophies so I'm for sure get the platinum now and will be able to play the DLC again soon!
Because you can get eyes in Midras manse that say they’ve been touched by the three fingers, I’d say that they were brought to the lands between by the lady with the torch, and then later put in the catacombs with the merchants
My favorite theme is definetely between the Dancing Lion and Midra's. Midra's is so menacing and it's pace kinda matching the flow of the fight. The Dancing Lions was chaotic and had an amazing peak - and it also fit the flow of the fight pefect. Hard to say which I like more.
@exquisitedoomlapointe185 I can't argue that really is amazing. Especially with its hints to the merchants' theme. I wish that whole questline was completed and that being the Lord of frenzied flame somehow changed that battle in the dlc
Midra is definitely the best in ER now and also my most favorite one in the DLC but overall it is still a close tie between Godfrey first phase and Ludwig the Holy Blade.
@@nayyarrashid4661 Godfrey's first phase definitely is one hell of an earworm. I thought the Godskins had the best theme tying with Elden Beast. Godfrey is certainly up there too. But that's just me :D
Imagine that the last boss fight had phase 3, after defeating Radahn with Miquella on his back, we are suddenly somehow transported to the arena where Godwyn's body lives and Miquella's soul enters it and we fight Godwyn the fallen to finally give them both an eternal rest
I haven't seen anyone talking about this- but in the story trailer, when Marika reaches down into a cloth at the gate, and pulls out the golden strings she holds up- I think this might be a baby? And the golden strings might be hair? I feel like there's some big lore implications here if this is the case and I'd love to hear more about it!
I did actually manage to find a consistent way to scarlet rot the final boss second fase, and a pretty cinematic one too! 90% of the time he will do the big explosion as his first move, so simply use scarlet aeonia while he is in the air. You will tank the damage of the explosion, but will scarlet rot him in one hit. Love the content bro, keep up the good work!
I dont know if you mentioned it already but Miquella used to have a ending that was found in the game files. People were hoping it could be unlocked because of the unique cutscene in the trailer where you see Miquellas hands remove the black seal. but its most likely just cut content. Basically Miquella steals Rannis lines verbatim. And announces his and radahns reign of compassion. I'm guessing the reason why Miquella and ranni's dialogue is similar is because they are both emperyons. So this vow is like their ceremonial transference of power.
I'm so curious about the lore of Midra. The easiest assumption to make is that he tried to become the lord of chaos, but it's ambiguous. Maybe he was punished for merely discovering the frenzied flame through the aging untouchables, or perhaps it was an entirely different event with his torture pushing him to the despair necessary for the flame. I do think it's pretty clear that Nanaya wished him to endure the agony so he could stew in despair for long enough to become a true lord, though.

I have to go with St. Trina
Me personally, Messmer's or Bayle's.
Gotta give it to Dancing Lion or Radahn for me
In case you didn't know, it also uses a twisted version of the music the merchants play, super cool!
Miyazaki literally made sure everyone had to playthrough the DLC twice for collector/lore hunters sake. 😂
At this point it is just the way you play these games. These games are meant to be like table top rpgs you can pull out and play any time (only you don't need friends to play with). They try to keep it fresh on repeat playthroughs by not giving everything away on the first.
@@bobdobbz9334That’s a really wonderful and weirdly accurate description of how its like to play these games.

It's the same with most of their games, isn't it? Is there any Souls game you can do every quest in one playthrough?

Sekiro maybe, could be wrong though. It is more of an action game with light rpg mechanics.
Seems like too many similarities for it not to mean something to me…
*Edit:* I’ve been told Miquella’s 4th arm is fading away it isn’t complete…. as we know he’s cursed with nascency, so perhaps him not having 4 arms is yet another depiction of this, perhaps he was inspired by Ranni to some extent and that’s why he wanted to have 4 arms as she has, but even at the divine gate, he still couldn’t complete his ideal form.
Midras boss theme is so amazing. It perfectly gets that feeling of
“You cannot let this guy leave the room”

@@sneaky5141Yeah a “photograph” lol
It is quite some irony if you think about how zio complained about "being spoiled by some jerks" just a week ago and now he is basically doing it himself.
Have to say it is quite unfortunately that Radahn is such a iconic character. Just the picture is enough to get him recognised even if ou have not yet seen the new design. Garden of eyes spoiled me with his damn thumbnail on day one. i hate it. Sure it might be obvious from the hints but the moment of realisation is still something i would have loved to experience myself and not this way.
Man it's just one photo, it barely gives you any lore beyond knowing it's related to the three fingers. I think he appeared in the trailer too so ...
romina and malenias themes are also similar i think
They are just a lower tempo and .25 slower
Even though this is not relevent to the video whatsoever, I saw an interesting theory claiming that, the wounds on Metyr's belly was caused by the fingerslayer blade and that the high treason committed by the Eternal City was that very act.
If this is to be true, it'd be indeed mindblowing.
He has already covered this theory In a previous video.
@@excalibur2596 Oh really? I didn't realize. Thanks for letting me know man.
Metyr had the elden ring in its eye
There's a good chance Marika attacked Metyr with the Nox to take the elden ring, or when she found out metyr was false
Doesn't do a very good job at slaying then.
I thought it was stretch marks from her bearing so many finger children.
Killing phase 1 Radahn with Scarlet Rot is very fitting...
I was actually afraid to put on the Raksha armour. I just defeated consort Radahn and am ready to do my second play through.
the scadutree avatar theme is also a spin on the normal erdtree avatar track
Mesmer’s theme being a remix of Radagons pretty much confirms who the father is
I cannot believe I missed that connection between Midra's theme and the Nomadic Merchants' song.

Should have been Godwyn or looked more like Mogh than Radahn at least during phase 1 😂
That Midra secret is nuts, and the OST secrets are awesome! Great vid, Zio!
I always feel like the Sword of Darkness and Light are a reference to Shadow of the Colossus.
Light weapon art is like when you lift up your sword to search a colossus.
The dark with its fog is like the fog of the Sword of Dormin and the black fog in general.

I also can hear the Ds3 theme in rellanas theme especially in phase 2.
Really is Pontif then.
I am VERY happy to learn that the raksasha armor isn't just a calamity ring for your whole body.
entering the dlc is like wearing 4 calamity rings anyway
The Miquella’s Rune Effect was a massive tip for me, I frequently struggle against Radahn’s grab attack. When the animation starts I know that I’m supposed to avoid it but I always get distracted by the thought of Miquella’s hunky himbo half brother husband giving me a bear hug while Miquella himself strokes my head and whispers sweetly in my ears and by the time I snap out of it I end up with my heart stolen.
Preciate the honesty gang, but dayum.
Understandable and same
You down atrocious
I like his sister's fat ass more
Already sound like he stole your heart already, friend
Marika.

8:05 Bayle without a doubt
I like that Metyr's theme plays in the finger ruins at a slow high pitch. The Mother of Finger's score is one of my favorites
"Rellana's theme is a play on Renalla's theme"
And we're just not going to talk about the mad lad lightning roll fight?
the theme of romina's second phase also has a malenia motif
But where is this great tree even?
@@Zer-md2ls it has been taken over by the Erdtree.

Midra is my fav boss fight, and I love the area he's in too
I've been behind in finishing SoTE, currently fighting the final boss and am now coming around to lore videos.
Could be completely off, but maybe not.
btw Enir Ilim translates to "Temple of the Lord of God"
Is it Old Hebrew?

Right when you get that Miquella pose “let’s go together”,
when you spawn, Perform it.
The shape is the entire ShadowErdTree is that Pose. It matches very well with your body. So cool.
I’m excited to check that one out
As for the map, Miyazaki said before launch that the Land of Shadow was physically a part of the Lands Between until Marika sealed it off. However Modern Day Lands Between has structures built several where the Lands of Shadow would normally occupy such as the Divine Towers that throw off the overlay.
tip for second phase from a mad man, scarlet aoenia will proc rot on second phase, you have enough time to do it when the light nuke is charging.
problem, you will get hit
solution, physyk tears that reduce damage will effectively tank the attack if your willing to sacrifice the physyk for this stunt
as second phase starts, chug the physyk and cast the incantation. If he doesnt do the light nuke, retry until he does.

The DLC seemed to be full of references to Dark Souls 1,2 and 3 and Bloodborne.
They like, re-used enemies, and some enemies and bosses were homages to DS bosses.
The dancing chick in the mausoleum was the dancer from DS 3, the scorpion chick was Queelag, the ancient dragon man was a reference to an item from DS1 that turned you into (the same looking) dragon, Relanna was PONTIFF SULLIVAN,
Putrescent knight was Orphan of Chaos, the Eyeballs Madness things were FROM BLOODBORNE. Also, mother of fingers reminded me of one of the giant alien Bloodborne bosses.
And probably some more.
I suppose i could just be making connections that arent there, its possible
As well, as Metyr and the black hole, Romina themes second phase contains a part of Malenias theme in it as well.
The symbolism of when an age changes takes the lives of the old and in with the new will always effect time and always the coolest part of these games
One that you missed, soundtrack-wise. Scadutree Avatar OST is a remix of the Erdtree Avatar OST. As for my favorite in the DLC? I have to go with Divine Beast, Midra and the final boss.
And YES. They should have kept that St Trina ending in it.
The Metroid Prime 1 + 2 Soundtrack gives me the heaviest nostalgia everytime. Hopefully MP2 will also get a remaster and MP4 will be Great
Another thing that I noticed during the Radahn fight, if you summon Thiollier and he dies during the fight, his last words are "please, fulfill saint Trina's wish." I think it means Thiollier finally managed to speak with saint Trina at last and she asked him to aid the tarnished in the final confrontation.
SOTE is absolute peak fromsoft just doesn’t miss when making these. Just zero misses
One thing I love about Elden ring and the DLC, is that I have spent a lot of time exploring (without a guide pointing out all the secrets and what not, unless I am stuck and looking for something specific), and I still see things that I never saw in my play through.
Scadutree Avatar has an amazing OST. I love how each phase the music changes to a more ethereal tone
One cool secret is how the Scudutree avatar mimics the Scudutree when it does its explosion attack in the third phase as it looks almost identical to the position that the Scudutree is in.
The Maps indeed are overlapped. My friend is one of the the map editors of ER DLC. They were told to make the DLC
map matches the center of ER map so that they can overlap.
for the closure i think Thiollier should have been waiting for you at St. Trinas, having finally heard her voice, thanking you both for her services and asking him to pass on her final message to you
Midra's phase 2 is my favourite ost of the entire dlc, it's also very reminiscent of Bloodborne. I love the heavy bass and strings in this piece so much.
Messmer's theme sounds more like the Bell Gargoyle DS1 if you pay close attention to the intro...
Or their* true love 🤷🏻
I did notice Messmers theme being similar to Radagons. Cool things to learn regardless so thanks for this.
also at Romina's theme, in her ost, check 2:50 there and you'll hear malenias theme, considering they're both vessels of rot
Godfrey first elden lord ost gave me chills like no other
Regarding Midra's theme: In the OST, the 10 seconds immediately before the section you played is actually a reversed and pitch shifted sample of the merchant's theme!
Yo I wonder if the Shamans we find in the underground areas of Lands Between are related to Marika and her shamans.
something you didn't mention about Rakshasa's armor, it also give you Shabribri's Woe effect... where the enemies are always focused on you no matter what else is going on around them. And since this effect is either on or off, it benefits more to just wear the whole set instead of just one piece because you're going to get this effect no matter if you have just one piece of the armor on or the whole set. Love the series, you do a great job! Cheers! 🍻
Oh wait does it? Does it include the bosses too?
I will have to go find this armor now.
To address your overlap of the land of shadow and lands between
I havent been able to make or find a high quality cutout of the lands of shadow map, but i think it would fit pretty well if you rotated it 90° counterclockwise
That would put jagged peak in the large empty mountain area next to forbidden lands and that would connect the broadest side of scadu Altus directly against the bottom of the base game altus
It would also put gravesite plains directly against the top of limgrave and would put both Liurinia and Isolated divine towers on land and would put the suppressing pillar much closer to the center
Theres also a suspiciously large inaccessible empty land space just below the first staircase into Lyndell that has always bothered me that would also almost perfectly fit the isolated plateau you reach after killing gaius, which is where that would be if the map was rotated, that would also put the oddly altus colored landmass connected to altus and would connect the large structure found there to West Altus Divine Tower
Also given the height differences, it would out Finger Ruins Of Dheo underneath Lyndell, though idk if it puts it deep enough to reach the 3 Fingers
This rotation would also put the only coasts in the land of shadow out facing the ocean to the east, the southernmost landmass reaching under Farum Greatbridge and wrapping around beastial sanctum
I only have one single gripe with this near perfect placement which is it puts belurat and inir-ilim next to stormveil which aside from the connection that it could have just been a massive castle that reached stormveil, belurat, and where Faram Azula used to be(given it's ruins are scattered over limgrave) i would say that only way it makes since is if all three were once one giant castle or were at least all next to eachother, though i dont really sit well with that
Though to counter that, it would put Shaman Village against southern altus and it keeps Grand Altar Of Dragon Communion connected to Caelid and the southern region where the other two communion locations are
Its also worth the thought to know that it might not take up every bit of water, there may have been water spaced between
Extra tip for the final boss: you can use Scarlet Aeonia incantantion to apply rot in the second phase!
Btw you can proc Rot on his second phase, it just takes more pots. And its arguably even more effective there, as you'll be dodging more.
I'm not sure what the third part is a play on though, had me feeling bad for a sunflower
the metroid prime background music is perfect for this lore vid.
Radahn can still get scarlet rot in phase 2, he just gets considerably more resistence but big sources like a scarlet aeonia can still proc it in 1 hit (unless you have npc summons which increase the threshold)
Consort Radahns theme was probably the best theme in Elden ring as a whole
Seems like using Radagon's theme for Messmer answers the question about who his father was. In the other cases you mentione the music is pointing out a connection - Rennala/Rellana, Midras/The Wanderers. Reuse of themes in the trailers connected Marika's ascension to the Elden Beast. I think using Radagon's music for Messmer has to be deliberate.
I’m so interested in St Trina’s lore and that whole quest and area around her along with the whole Abyssal Forest Frenzy Flame but too
Putrescent Knight and Metyr Mother of Fingers have my favorite tracks.
Another thing for the OST matching part, Rominas OST has inspiration from Malenias second phase OST. Since they are linked through the rot.
Midras best theme in fromsoft history. I know people say Lawrence's theme is but nope.
Romina def had the best Theme. That score from the trailer. Really hits.
