Good stuff Clarence, there is never too much tractor stuff on UA-cam. There is rarely any tractor repairs on here that I dont learn a snippet of information on.
As you stated , you are just looking for tyres, but a 1080 would be a nice addition to the collection. Also, I have mentioned before, the 100 series MF's have always been my favorite tractors. Thanks for the video !!!
@@ClarenceFudWeasel Thanks for posting. You make me want to spend more of my valuable money on rusty old shite. As soon as the last few bits are finished on my Dexta I fancy a MF..
Hello from southern Victoria Australia, your 165 is Looking good Lance from Bundy Bear's Shed UA-cam channel in Queensland Australia is right now currently restoring a Massey Ferguson 65, full restoration, paintwork etc, the engine had busted rings and bits of the piston between the rings were broken off, it was addicted to Ether apparently, so there's a lesson for anyone who's tractor is addicted to ether, he restored a couple of 135 multipower and 6 speed versions, he bought a reproduction bonnet for his 135 and he said it was horrible, there were gaps in it and holes didn't line up, things weren't straight and little things like curves in the tin work were wrong, he has since got onto a place in Ireland, I reckon it may be the one who you are talking about.
Thanks for joining. I regularly watch Bundy Bear's shed. I think he's forgotten more than I ever knew and I always learn something from him even after all this time at the job! I would definitely recommend the quality of the stuff from John Conaty, and he sells parts you just can't find elsewhere, so I guess you are probably right.
Could be as simple as bad adjustment of control linkage or it could be control valve stuck or defective, internal pressure loss (leak, o ring failed, worn ram etc, ), relief valve failed or a dead pump. Whichever it could be a few ¢ in parts or up to $400 for a new pump. None of it is hard to do however. Good luck.
@@ClarenceFudWeasel Have a dual lever control valve on the top ......Bolts are recessed with allen head bolts .....water has sat in there for years before i got the tractor .....Heads are rusted and now a round hole on top .......was able to get the top off the pump cover ,,,,and cranked it ..Oil flow comes out of the pipe .....How much oil should flow ? ,,,,,And im thinking the dual control lever block is keeping oil from going to the lift piston ......wont know till i get the control lever assembly off
The Perkins 318 motor was the worst motor Perkins ever built. Check the oil change the head gasket! The 1080 and 595 that had this motor were along way from MFs best. Take the wheels by all means , call the scrap man for the rest.
I agree about the 318. I was never a fan of the Big Fours, too many problems with them. The 4.3182 had most of the problems ironed out, but still not keen on them. This particular 1080 looks pretty stupid on 32 inch wheels. Anyway, let's see how it goes. Thanks for watching.
The diecast aluminium grab handles are most definitely NOT correct for an MF 1080 tractor! For European consumption (Beauvais built), the style of the fender is correct but European MF 1080s simply had a flat plate in this area, not the diecast items you've shown. In fact, as part of a cost cutting exercise, it was around the latter part of 1967 that the diecast grab handles were deleted and a pressed steel item added to fenders from that date forward. Since the MF 1080 was introduced the latter part of 1969, they never had the diecast items ever.
The Massey mudguards: John Conaty at Balnagon Lower, Kells, Co. Meath, Republic of Ireland. They are on their website.
They are, and great people to deal with too. Thanks for watching.
You said off hiding/working, best if you can hide from work. Thanks for your down to earth videos.
I do try to hide from work, but when I do, I find I don't have enough money to buy tools.
Thanks for watching.

Thanks for watching, I have been enjoying your Massey 65 series and always learn something from your videos.
Thanks for the update really looking forward to seeing you getting the 165 finished 👍
I should be able to put stuff up a bit more regularly over the summer. Thanks for watching.
Thanks again for all the updates and details. It really is very good

Never been a big fan of the Perkins big fours, but even so, the 1080 has always been a favourite. It might just happen... Thanks for watching.
Great update on the tractors, keep them away from lord muck.
He's coming round to my way of thinking.
Thanks for watching.
Great work on the 165 - can't wait for the 175 to start!
Soon...

Good update video 👍 don't know have you tried Ron Greet tractor breakers for parts 🤔 👍
I do get a lot of bits from Ron, been using him for 35 years now.
Thanks for watching.
Yes !!👍 a MF1080 Hope you get it 👍 keep up the good work 👍
It's rough, but how often do I buy the easy option?
Thanks for watching.
Good job Clarence, it all becomes clear now, but I still would not have copped it , looking forward to seeing her earning a crust for You👌👍🙂
I hope I run out of things to fix on it soon! Thanks for watching.
Can we see the full gory details of the engine rebuild on the 175 please?!
If that's what makes you happy, that's what I'll do. Thanks for watching.

Do it. You know you want it. Nobody ever died wishing they hadn't bought so much rusty old shite. It's the key to enlightenment and inner happiness.
All interesting stuff young man!

Not decided yet. Thanks for watching.
I see you have 6 loop wheels on it .....did it come with spin outs ? Spin out are out the roof right now ...600 800 us money
It was probably built with the PAVTs, they were standard on the 175 over here. They are getting hard to find and $$$.
hell my 165 has the huge ass 38 inch rims on the back.
Mine should too because it was built as a high-clearance model with slightly lower gearing. maybe yours was too? Thanks for watching.

This is a US made model. Those fenders and cast risers are US spec.
