How do you like to eat lamb's quarters?
I love this & your purslane video … I’ve tried to watch others to learn how to identify, but am left lacking. Yours are easier to follow. Thank you. I’d love you to do more wild edible vids…
thank you! we MAY be eating more of these wild plants..very soon. blessings to you.
I love this info! Thank you! these weeds I have been pulling for years now I know I can survive on them
Love Lamb's Quarters. Use to have it growing in my lawn. Not enough water now. Will have to figure out how to water. Steam it and so delicious. Have frozen them also.
Never seen this before. But I will look out for it, thanks.
thank you for this post.
You're welcome! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks!!
I have not seen this plant in the Philippines, but I have saw it in the vegetable market here in Saudi Arabia, but the plant is smaller than in your video. My Indian friend told me it is wild spinach in India.
Yes, it is referred to as wild spinach as well. They can be very small to start, but grow to be quite large if left to grow.
Its batu in punjabi, when cooking mustard plant, they add small portion along with spnich( its called saag that also comes in cans made in pakistan by Michells available in Pak stores).
How do you cook the mustard plant u put stems in too?
I did till I found out what it was.Came up everywhere, where we lived in NSW.
Hydrophobic? How do you tell the difference from mildew powder?
Great questions! Hydrophobic literally means "water fearing". But what it means from a plant perspective is that this plant repels water. If you find lambs quarter, try washing it and you'll see what I'm talking about.
And yes, you can tell the difference from powdery mildew. I have yet to see it ever having powdery mildew, probably because it repels the water from its leaves so easily.
What season do they grow in.?? Im in Australia and they seem to be a winter plant. Seeding in the spring. 🙂
I'm in Wisconsin and we have very cold winters. This plant grows from late spring to early fall.
Where I will get in Canada. In which stores
I'm not sure about Canada. You might want to look to purchase seeds online. In the US this isn't sold in stores as it is mostly considered a weed.
