You make your frames exactly as I do 👍👍 Unfortunately the BBKA still seem to advise beekeepers make frames up differently resulting in nail tips protruding up through the top rail, and the prospect of losing the bottom bars as you remove a frame from the hive if the bees have managed to stick it to the frame below 😳 I know they shouldn’t be able do this if bee space is correct but we don’t live in a perfect world 🤷‍♀️🇬🇧

Can you please do a video on using castellated spacers?

I do the nails very similar way but for the top bar probably slightly longer nails as I use Hoffman frames. I also glue and pre drill slightly to avoid splitting. One bottom bar should be removable it makes much easier when installing the wax foundation. Nails lengths are very important and I use different lengths in different places. I install wax with one bottom bar which is glued permanently and second is not then push second bar in and drive the nails. The nails in the bottom bars makes more difficult to install wax because can catch the edges of the wax and contracts the groove slightly so definitely second bottom bar should be inserted after wax is in place. I do the nails through the top loops (3loops). So I use 7 nails in total but there are 3 lengths of them to make sure job is done correctly. I use challenge panel nails small hammer, punch, pencil, middle screwdriver to start the holes, cordless drill and small drill bits, gorilla glue.

You pre-drill the holes on each frame? 😲
