  • In this video I show off the TOP 50 comic books in my collection - this was surprisingly hard to figure out and I'm actually not sure if I like my picks. I was hesitant to post this video because of the ending - I didn't realize I was going to get so emotional. But I decided to post it anyway, hopefully it isn't too cringy.

My heart sank when you said it. I’m a Christian, and it’s all good if you’re not, but sending some prayers to your family. This is beautiful tribute to wonderful childhood memories with your brother. Be blessed and you for being real on such a tough subject.

I fully understand your attachment to Wolverine #1 and the memories it brings. My Dad started buying comic books for me in the early 60's even though I could barely read but enjoyed the pictures. He passed away 41 years ago and although I no longer had any of those books I started collecting slabbed copies of the ones I remember that he bought for me in the 60's, mostly early Marvels.

I will reiterate what I hope most comments on this video will be. You have captured the true essence of collecting comic books, they hold such an emotional attachment, I thank you for being open and honest with your feelings about your collection of books. I really think these feelings of our youth attached to any given book is something that is very much tied to our generations. Moving forward I really don't think that kids will really have these experiences. I appreciate you sharing such heartfelt emotions, about these books and your brother. This community we belong to is truly a special place, I am thankful to be a part of it. Never apologize for your feelings, loss is a terrible thing to go through, they are yours and you should be proud of them and your memories. Secondary the glow and joy on your face and your comments with the last 3 leading up to is are also a huge part of collecting and owing these treasures. Your best video to date!

I teared up a little at the end. I have a big connection with my older brother and when he was in the army I would worry he would never make it home. I understand how you feel and I’m sorry for your loss. Something i admire is that you showed that collecting comics isn't about what books you get but the memories and emotions you get from them

I had the exact same reaction to Darkhawk on the rack. My LCS already had it marked up as well, I think it was $3.50 and I had to have a serious internal conversation with myself if I was going to blow almost all of my $5 allowance. So glad I did. I went on to collect the other 49, the annuals and even the Marvel Age. I think we'll see him in the MCU at some point. And don't apologize for your emotion, it comes through on each and every video you do, your genuine passion for the hobby is a major part of your charisma and success.

Very touching reminder of your brother. I got into comic collecting over the pandemic and it brought it back to great memories of my dad. He loved comics and it reminded of buying comics and watching shows like Spider Man the 90s animated cartoon. X Men animated series and Batman the animated series with him. Miss him everyday but always have the memories.

Not cringy at all! Very touching. I have three older brothers and they all collected comics. None have passed on, but I do keep all their comics at my house now. I've never thought about it, but one day I'm sure I will be in a similar situation where looking through them will bring back a flood of memories. Just thinking of the eventuality makes me teary eyed, so I fully understand why you feel the way you do and it's a very nice sentiment.
Thanks for all the great content! I've picked up a handful of books based on your recommendation that shot up in value shortly after.

My brother and I recently inherited thousands of my dad’s comics. Ever since then I’ve been diving into the comic world and soaking up as much information as I can. I spent a couple weeks every night sorting many many boxes and categorizing and just reflecting on what comics meant to my old man. It was really amazing, to be honest. While I was surrounded by comics as a youth (sounds like we’re similar in age), I mostly loved the art and characters but didn’t really read them. Just looking at the drawings was cool enough somehow. However, briefly in the later 90s I remember actually starting to read some later amazing Spider-Man comics and connecting with my old man about the story line of spidey (spiderman was his fav). During my sorting I found 2 amazing Spider-Man 400 (the death of aunt may and a cool gravestone cover). That was the first comic book I can really remember buying and him and I both bought one and sure enough they were both there while sorting. You helped remind me why those issues in particular are so important and not to be so concerned with what financial value there is. Cool video. Thanks.

Started watching your channel recently and love your content. This one, in particular, made me tear up and affirmed why I got into the hobby in the first place.
I remember as a kid walking into my local LCS near my grandmothers house (really just a big bookstore in the Philippines) before there was internet and would read all the Spider-Man, Marvel, and Archie comics I could get my hands on.
I didn’t get into collecting again until just recently before she passed away because it brings me back to a time when I would come back to my grandmothers house with a small stack of comics in my grandparents basement. There’s still a smell of old comic books that transport me to my grandparents house.

I think it's awesome that your top 2 books have such sentimental value - which is more important than all the money in the world. My top 5 favorite is actually your #50 - Thor #390. I've had it since it first came out. When I sold my collection, that was one of the few books I didn't want to part with. I commend you and there's nothing wrong with getting emotional - family is important esp when it's close family.

    Excellent collection!!!!
    First origin:
My very first comic i bought was Daredevil #168 at 7/11
Back then i was really into martial art and when i saw it sitting on the rack with and Elektra does that pose, that was it,
But that was a one time thing. I wasn't collecting or reading them back then.
    Second origin:
When the first Batman movue came out, i was walkjng to see that movie and saw a LCS and saw Detective Comics #600 displaying on the window, til then i never saw Batman looking so cool. I always thought Batman was lame like the 1960's show. That's when i got into collecting.
Then after we moved from San Jose, CA to Sacramento, CA. I fell into some hard time and had to sell my collection which included lots of hot keys,
    Third origin:
I just restarted collecting & reading again about a month ago.....so far, spent over $6000, not a good time to get back into it since the comic book market is doing so good right now, seems like everything is 🔥 and everything is expensive.

Thanks for sharing - that wolverine is very special - I think each collector has that priceless book that may not be a key or high grade but means so much. Sorry about your brother - glad you have the fond memories always. Stay well.

You will see the Enchantress in the MCU. It’s kinda insane she’s not in it already.

Your top 50 is impressive. If not for the variety of titles, and years that it spans but the fact that you don't seem to have focused on slabbing and grading. I still have my collection from when I was a teenager in the '80s and it's been close to 15 years since I've gone through them. My fond memory isn't coming home from the comic shop with a bag full of titles but it's catching my dad in the basement reading them afterwards. It became our thing and at times he seemed more excited than I did when I came home with more. Looks like it's a good time to crack open all of those boxes and take a stroll down memory lane... Thank you for sharing. In comic collecting it's not all about money and this video sums it up very good.

Wow great collection. I see you got some nice books on the backwall too lol. Thanks for being so vulnerable and for sharing your stories. Those memories and experiences are irreplaceable.
