My list: 1. Anthony Hopkins in "Silence of the Lambs" 2. Kevin Spacey in "The Usual Suspects" 3. Christoph Waltz in "Inglorious Bastards" Also all these actors share a very high intelligence in the real life!
I think one recent villain worthy of an honorable mention here is Helmut Zemo from "Captain America: Civil War." He was only a man, and yet, he succeeded in being the only MCU villain to actually defeat The Avengers. He spoke several languages, hacked into heavily encrypted data and was able to "put the pieces" together on tons of files, improvised attacks on the UN and a high-security military site, committed murders which were not discovered until days later, and manipulated the Avengers into destroying themselves as a team. I'd say that takes a LOT of smarts to be able to do all of that!
Interestingenough4 you are right, he wasn't a super-villain or anyone with special abilities he was just a normal man who cared about his family and wanted revenge on the avengers for the death of the ones he loved He deserved at least fifth place on this list. I was confused by this too. It was clear from the beginning that the "culprit" took a "front row seat" as it was revealed, hence Jigsaw was who/what/where/why he precisely intended to be at that moment.
Yeah, it was misleading for them to talk about his suicide attempt (which was by car) while showing his ruse in the first movie where he simply posed as a corpse that blew his brains out.
I think he's alright at 8. Of all the villains on this list, his planning is by far the most unbelievable to the point where it's ridiculous. My suspension of disbelief can only go so far.

You have jigsaw on here BUT NO JOHN DOE FROM SE7EN?! It has one of the best sucker punch endings ever! It's so sad how it was waaaay ahead of its time and is still criminally underrated
But how does that mean he's the smartest? You can know something another guy doesn't; you can plan something another guy is unaware of. But either of those guys might be smarter than the other. Also why Jigsaw never really strikes me as smart. Sadistic, yes. Motivated, definitely. Smart? I'm not so sure. His traps are simple mechanical devises (compare to the lasers used by Goldfinger). His victims tend to be half-wits. Let's not conflate wanting to teach people to appreciate the things we may hold dear (like the bible's 7 no-nos) and being really sick in the head as intelligent.
I thoroughly enjoyed the Saw movies. They were always so well planned out and interesting to find out why he chose said trap. Even gave you a perfect quote to sum up the movies in Saw 2 "If you're good at anticipating the human mind, you leave nothing to chance."
Through Emperor Palpatine, The Star Wars prequel trilogy basically prophesized the Obama Administration, with the clone army representing the mainstream media.
I love that Hannibal and Verbal are on this list, but there are some others you missed. John Doe from Se7en (planned it all out even including his death) and Roy (Aaron) from Primal Fear (biggest shocker).
MORIARTY! Where is he on this list? The man who can outsmart Sherlock Holmes? He would drive anyone on this list insane. Yes, Lecter is amazing as top, but even he would balk at this master. For that reason, others could have been better choices. Jigsaw does not belong on this list, that is the problem just "popular vote." People vote for favorites, most commonly without a logical argument. The man is an engineer, alright I get that, and he has to be some form of accomplished person with his ability to do some form of surgery and chemistry, but there are so many people who have a much more vast intellect (taking out technological advances to add power). Goldfinger, might be good at strategy but I don't think he belongs either. Some people have such a vast level of pure intelligence, strategy, book knowledge, and more. Lex Luthor would deserve a spot. What about Magneto? Even Green Goblin (Norman Osbourne) or Doctor Octopus? Cobra Commander? The Artchitect from Matrix? Dr. Frankenstein (still pretty up there maybe not best choice). Blofeld, the man who basically ran crime all over the world? Even Syndrome from the Incredibles (lacks some common sense though? Dr. Franknfurter from Rocky Horror is a trans-planetary genius too. This list is so limited, though it had great choices.
Wow... you have provided zero contribution to the discussion. This isn't about right, this is logical argument. I never said Jigsaw wasn't smart, but he really isn't the definition of genius either, as a genius is exceptional capacity of intellect or creativity especially shown in original work. There are much more deserving and fulfilling people that take on the role of genius. As I said before, Moriarty, a text book definition alongside Holmes. Cobra Commander, a man who nearly singlehandedly designed the world's most advanced weaponry with the capacity to take on national armies with just a few people? People like jigsaw and goldfinger pale in comparison. There is a difference between being genius and being smart.
Nathaniel Cromer Jigsaw was able to create his traps, get his victims, and place them in the trap and pretty much end the in walk away. He would put just about everyone else to shame
Thats minimal compared to others on this list. He is comparable to many real life murderers. Kidnapping, some traps and getting away is nothing incredible. Most of this scenarious take place in just hours, not even days. Thats a short time for a real investigation to find results for kidnappings and murders for a completely unknown assailant. There are plenty of real word scenarios that are torturous, kidnapping, and unsolved. His grand scheme is absolutely minimal and much more easily feasible by many more people as opposed to others on this list. There are some in here that intend to create complete chaos across cities, nations, and more. Many can, and have (essentially) done what jigsaw has done, and were not even considered very smart. Dr. Harold Shipman 250 murders over 2 decades? Jeffrey Dalhmer 17 murders over about 15 years? Dennis Nilsen 15 murders over 5 years. They all used a distinct style and took years to discover. Arguable, the same could be said for Hannibal Lecter, except he clearly defines a much stronger degree intellect. His genius is be able to do all of his evil misdeed even WHILE in lockup. He manipulates, pulls strings, and is much more feared over a larger area, and regardless of where he is. It is the environment of a movie that changes all this to create a harsh plot or not... but arguably, even another genius would struggle vs Hannibal Lecter. If you put all of these characters in a room, 1 vs 1 to talk. I see jigsaw and goldfinger dropping out MUCH faster than the others. Genius is about taking it to the next step, and jigsaw isn't really beyond that. If you seriously think Jigsaw would put all these guys to shame, then you need to sit down and watch these movies (again). Im not arguing that Jigsaw is stupid, he isn't. He is just logically doesn't display a level of genius some others. I myself could provide the same type of situation on others, though I never would.
Yes Jigsaw would end up bowing out. However, Dr. Lecter would still be there with barley no emotion of any kind. This is what makes Hannibal so dangerous. It's not the killings that he does. It is the fact that he can stand in a room show no emotion and yet control everyone around him. He did this even in prison. That is what makes him so scary. It is also the same reason why FBI was still going to him to capture other murderers. Dr. Lecter would give anyone pretty much a run for their money.
The Yorkshire Person You mean "The Revenge of the Special Effects"? Or was it "The Revenge of the Screen Transitions"? Except for moderately captivating action that film had nothing. How old are you? 7?
Well, there is a fan theory that Jar Jar was a secret Sith Lord. Seems fairly plausible, too. There are about a trillion videos on UA-cam pertaining to the subject, if you're interested.
I neither know nor care if Jar Jar is a sith; but he sure as fuck sucks ass, and I want to see him die slowly and painfully. Preferably by Darth Vader as the executioner.
Gerald Butler in "Law Abiding Citizen". After they killed his wife, you definitely felt for him, but he was ultimately a villain or "anti hero", whatever you wanna call him, but he was very smart!
Brian DuBois lol that fact makes Law Abiding Citizen one of the most underated movies ever. The fact that he became a murderer that stop a murderer. Really good ending. He didn't have to do what he did but in the end he was no better.
Kenny Spillman That's without a doubt still killing. If I place a bomb in a room where I know someone is going to, then lock that room, that's killing someone. Doesn't really matter if you tried to talk him of her out of it. The cop thing to do was not placing any bomb and just having 20 cops ready to arrest him when he returned.
Jenny? Were you not aware that her alcoholic father raped her repeatedly before she was 7 years old? She loved Forrest, she was taught to hate herself. She thought she was protecting him by staying away from him. That is a victim, not a villian.
Ok, sure Hannibal is a great and smart villain. But what about Professor Moriarty from Sherlock Holmes? He appears in movies, and he is without any doubt the world's greatest criminal mind.
I guess it's down to his popular portrayals, and he hasn't been that popular when appearing on film whereas in any of the TV series it's a different story
personally I think if Hal 9000 was on the list the Skynet AI should have been too. It's one thing to be a genius AI, but it's another thing to have to fight a bunch of people who already know exactly what you're going to do before you do it and try to think accordingly.
They are right about Hannibal being #1 but don't judge him by the movie version, read the books. He is way smarter, scarier, and amazing in the books. The end of the second book is fucking spectacular. The movie version of part 2 changed it to garbage. I won't spoil it, just read the books.
KingKaiserSW This... I don't understand why they didn't use the original. It was so much better in showing how powerfull the manipulation over people hannibal had.
Fabricio Osuna the book was a fuckfest no one wants to see Clarice Starling turn into a cannibal, the movie wasnt good either but the book ending sucks
John Kramer (jigsaw) did not commit suicide -.- actually watch the movies please. That was part of the game, the only time he was ever injured besides his cancer was when he was in a car accident and impaled by a metal pole, he took the pole out himself as a live or die instinct. That's how he got the idea to see how far people would go to live or die, him getting cancer just added to it as them having to appreciate their life after...if they survived. Those who have watched saw movies know exactly what I'm talking about.
Yeah, that threw me at first two. but he attempt suicide. His surviving the crash is what lead him to realize how precious life was. And then a series of events lead him to despise people that took life for granted.
You're wrong. He did attempt suicide, we were told this in the films. However, the scene was never shown in the movies so apparently WatchMojo used the scene when he played dead instead, probably because they think it fits.

I thought the exact same thing I was waiting for him to appear. Thinking he's probably number 1. And then nothing.... He has appeared in the movie "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows" Wonderfully portrayed, I thought, by Jared Harris
Hannibal Lecter is certainly the most brilliant villain. Sorry if you don't agree with the statement, but he mostly manipulated his victims into killing themselves for his meal (or used brute force to kill his victim). He broke out of prison by cutting someones face off. And you think a Sherlock Holmes character is above that?? :/ Sorry, but I disagree.
Hannibal Strider Oh yeah, I agree that Hannibal is absolutely brilliant, but Professor Moriarty is one of the most genius villains in fiction. He was almost if not smarter than Sherlock himself. Hannibal was definitely cunning and manipulative, but so was Moriarty. Besides, I'm not saying Moriarty should be first, I'm just saying he should be on the list.
Palpatine #1 This guy actually won ! He made the most complex and evil plan in history of cinema. Not Palpatine's fault it is badly understood in the prequels. He was responsible for deaths of 10000 Jedi and an entire planet..
@@godemperorofmankind3.091,not to mention he got busted(as in killed) by the guy he manipulated into turning to the Dark Side(Darth Vador),and plus how dare he try to hurt a baby with electricity?By this,I'm obviously making fun of how weak Luke is compared to Darth Vador and Emperor Palpatine because of how powerful and even experienced they are(not to mention,it's a reference to the fact that Luke and Leia were born around the time that Anakin became Darth Vador)!

+Rocky Basnayaka Influencing a few people... how incredible. Compared to others on the list who committed genocide. I doubt that just fixes itself via the death of one man. Let us compare Jigsaw with The Emperor from Star Wars. Some murders vs the entire destruction of a planet and the annihilation of a galaxy wide governmental power. This is like comparing Jeffrey Dahmer with Adolf Hitler. Heavens to betsy 17 murders is worse than... how many people died due to Hitler direct actions? Oh that's right, something around 56 million people. And the emperor pulled a blanket over no part of Europe, but THE FUCKING GALAXY. The man literally STOLE AN ENTIRE GALAXY and made most of it his bitch for 30 or so years, while destroying atleast an entire planet. An ENTIRE planet... which was probably somewhere in the ballpark of a lot more then 56 million people. I am sure even though the emperor is dead, that everything will be alright in a few days. Right? Shit... there are 3 more stars wars movies though too (e7-9), lets see how the galaxy fairs after the emperors death just to make sure. But sure... Jigsaw was definitely much more evil, capable and intelligent than all the others.
"Smartest movie villains", fyi that means who is the smartest we aren't counting number's. If we are Galactus would be the number one for me he eats planets for dinner :) I'd rather watch 10 people getting killed in unique way than watching a galaxy wiped out in a same old boring ass bombs ect.. Inconclution you went all out and explain some irrelevant bull crap.
Lady Kira he died once in the whole series, although his death and event's surrounding his death were brought up several times to explain "how/what/who"
HAL has been the source of many nightmares for me.. 2001 isnt really a horror film.. but with the exponential growth of technology in the last 3 decades, it makes sense to me that a computer may try its hand at trying to be the top of the food chain. I read a story called I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream, when i was 11 or 12.. and it has haunted me ever since
Alan Rickman, your amazing performances will never be forgotten, you did a very difficult task of making a villain Hans Gruber very likable and a hero aka Snape distasteful until you figure out his true intentions and motivations. A remarkable man and a remarkable actor who left a big impression on all who saw him in his roles.
Jar jar is so evil he convinced even George Lucas to change the plot in episode 2...... If you were a true believer in this conspiracy then you will understand :)
Jigsaw and the Joker should have been higher up on the list.I think Mr Glass should have been on the list vs certain others, not just honorable mention!
Palpatine should honestly have been number 1. Considering how incredibly detailed and on-point his plan was, which lasted over 13 years, you can't deny that he is the true mastermind of evil
Hannibal Lecter was canonically a skilled forensic psychiatrist and surgeon, a polymath with extensive experience in Renaissance art and classical literature who spoke and read at least six languages, and a pianist who sat on the board of the Baltimore Philharmonic Orchestra. Not to mention that he was an unsurpassed manipulator of people who murdered and ate at least nine victims before his capture - feeding parts of several of them to unwitting others - all while hiding in plain sight by *actively and officially participating in the police and FBI efforts to solve the murders he committed*. Quite happy for him to be number one on the list
@@rhonafenwick5643 Palpatine fooled an entire galaxy, drove them into war and then became a dictator without firing a single shot. You can't get smarter than that
@@FernandoRamirez-xd3wz You're arguing in favor of a science fiction villain over one that is actually realistic. The only way to consider Palpatine smart is to suspend your disbelief on a galactic scale.
Kyle Stubbs the fact that the Joker in the Dark Knight said he doesn't like making plans was supposed to be considered b******* notice he kept changing the story about how he got his facial scars he lies constantly if you notice in the movie he has very intricate plans so the whole thing about him not making plans is a lie
PhilipTrouble I wasn't really saying that the Joker isn't smart. I was predicting that something Batman related would be in the video since watchmojo has such a big boner for the guy.
I don't get people like you, name me more than one video where Batman or Batman related doesn't deserve to be on the list. You just want attention. Fucking hell I hate people that just hate for no reason. "Watchmojo have a boner for Batman". Shut the fuck up.
Silva in Skyfall. He predict that Q would plug in the computer genius' laptop to MI6's internal network. He could blow up MI6 HQ with a computer via the internet. He predicted where Bond would stand when the bomb he planted would go off so the train would fall on Bond.
Or rather he might be more of an anti-villain but it's hard to label him exactly. He's certainly no hero but I also don't think he's purely evil like a stereotypical villain. He's definitely somewhere in between.
Give Hannibal, Joker and Jigsaw all a month to make a plan to kill eachother and then see who wins. Joker dies because he doesn't know wtf to do when hes confronted with death. Hannibal would survive but then gets outsmarted by a time-trap. And jigsaw dies first because thats his plan...
***** jigsaw makes the traps,Hannibal makes I dunno dinner for the survivors maybe, joker not so much he will just make the traps funnier but still deadly
+OfficialJaffaBair If they were all personally intent on killing the other two, using smarts alone from scratch with no resources. Joker would probably murder them both pretty fast. If he sole goal was to kill, he is much more aggressive in planning and doesn't bide his time and try to stay hidden. Despite the other two being very intelligent, Hannibal would be able to garner the resources he needed for money, hired help, weapons, etc... but he would do it slowly without drawing attention. As for Jigsaw, he probably falls short of the other two, as he is a "DIY guy" and never appears to as high a level of manipulation or access to resources. He likes to plan, but in the end... Joker I think would be too fast for the others, though Hannibal probably retains being the smartest but smarts wont always win against slightly less smarts with much more brawn.
Lex Luthor was an honorable mention?! He's the literally archtype of the super-smart villain! And Goldfinger? Seriously? The man had a great plan I'll admit, but he was hardly a genius and he kept making completely idiotic mistakes. Kaizer Soze on the other hand, that I'll go for. Dr. Hannibal Lector too. Hal 9000 wasn't a villain though, he was a victim. Palpatine, he was a genius villain, that I'll go for, though you folks forgot to mention the whole 'starting and manipulating a galactic war for power and revenge' part of things.
Eyeless Jeff I have a guilty pleasure: I enjoy watching the traps in the SAW movies and I also enjoy watching anything related and that has to do with John Kramer and SAW.
***** He was a master of psychology. Making incredible guesses as to which path a person would take when put into a situation. He does manipulation of people is such a way that you often don't know what he's doing until it's over.
Well if you agree to his view of the world, wolfs and sheep, survival of the fittest... I think Hannibal wouldn't consider himself a villain :) Maybe that's why you also don't.
Palpatine should have been number 1. Seriously, as diabolical and evil as everyone on the list is, this is supposed to be about the "smartest" villain. Palpatine had an entire galaxy dancing to his tune. His only mistake across an entire franchise was trying to kill Luke right in front of Vader.
+Gregory Puzo he's moreso an antihero. The ending is up for grabs to begin with who really was the good guy. Some think Gerard was going to far with his payback... others think he should have torn down the whole system
You guys constantly put Elijah Price/Mr. Glass in honorable mention. That was a brilliant performance from Sam Jackson. The character had a strong philosophy behind his motives that makes you question whether or not he was really a villain
Technically, depending on how you look at it, he could be considered an anti-hero. Since it is kinda left up to the viewer to decide, that may be why he was left out.
Cynical Cthulhu Isnt that how a lot of villains start out? The justice system may have been corrupt but him killing people with families and children wasnt justified. For me that makes him a villain. If he stopped the killing at the man who killed his family then i could see him as "a man seeking justice"
Your Mom He needed to send a message, and that certainly did it. You would be surprised at what people will do when they have nothing to lose. He is an anti-hero to me. He didn't want anyone else getting wronged by the system, so he needed to make a big enough commotion in order to get peoples attention. The vast public would hardly pay attention if he just stopped after killing Darby and his friend. He needed to get people to see just how badly the system is made, hence why the court room scene went the way it did. He wanted to show the judge and everyone else in the courtroom how easy it is to get off with murder. I hope this doesn't seem like a rant, cause it's not. lol

You have jigsaw on here BUT NO JOHN DOE FROM SE7EN?!
It has one of the best sucker punch endings ever!
It's so sad how it was waaaay ahead of its time and is still criminally underrated
Truth!
John Doe tops even Verbal Kint.
jostie SE7EN was amazing
Seems like Watch Mojo based their list on a one-villain per actor rather than who's the most brilliant villains.
I would definitely include Gerard Butler's character from Law Abiding Citizen and Edward Norton's character from Primal Fear
He was more like a movie hero not villain
Little late to the show, but I missed these exact same 2 characters in this list.

I love that Hannibal and Verbal are on this list, but there are some others you missed. John Doe from Se7en (planned it all out even including his death) and Roy (Aaron) from Primal Fear (biggest shocker).
They mention John Doe in the video as an honorable mention.
IceHedge They only mentioned the role as one in which Kevin Spacey "stole the show" but the character was not actually given an honorable mention.
I never hear any one mention Roy from Primal Fear! Great film!
One of my favorite Edward Norton films!
Lisa Edwards by far his best movie imo
+Nathaniel Cromer Jigsaw has every right to be on this list
Wow... you have provided zero contribution to the discussion.

In my reality, he is a sith lord. Nuff said. Everybody bow to my opinion.

Fabricio Osuna he didnt kill him, he tried to talk him out of killing himself
Kenny Spillman That's without a doubt still killing. If I place a bomb in a room where I know someone is going to, then lock that room, that's killing someone. Hannibal Lecter is really creepy

Hannibal the cannibal
They are right about Hannibal being #1 but don't judge him by the movie version, read the books. He is way smarter, scarier, and amazing in the books. The end of the second book is fucking spectacular. The movie version of part 2 changed it to garbage.
I won't spoil it, just read the books.
I agree, blame Jodie Foster for the ending to Hannibal.

Titus Orelius Pretty much, but why they didnt use the original ending after Jodie dropped out of the movie still boggles me.

Justin Bel i agree, but john krammer should have been either second or taken first.
Also the villain in red 2
John Kramer (jigsaw) did not commit suicide -.- actually watch the movies please. That was part of the game, the only time he was ever injured besides his cancer was when he was in a car accident and impaled by a metal pole, he took the pole out himself as a live or die instinct. That's how he got the idea to see how far people would go to live or die, him getting cancer just added to it as them having to appreciate their life after...if they survived. Those who have watched saw movies know exactly what I'm talking about.
Kramer did not attempt suicide in the first Saw movie. It was all part of the plan. The blood and head wound were all fake.
He still attempted suicide, I guess that image was just the best to express that.
Nicholas Cannaday I was under the impression he never did. I might have missed/forgotten it.
Lttlemoi He got despondent and flipped his car on purpose in a flashback.

True. Then again, most directors have villains fail and have the good guys win because people apparently always want happy endings. I want the villains to win in the end, I want some verity in my movie victories.

+OfficialJaffaBair I had put a poll up to see who would win between Hannibal and Jigsaw

How can A.I. have feelings like fear and confusion??
Mr. Brown Idk
Arent this a lot of “villains“
Saw John Kramer: Clicked it
Pun not included
He looked like Roy Batty from the first Blade Runner movie.
Eyeless Jeff I have a guilty pleasure: I enjoy watching the traps in the SAW movies and I also enjoy watching anything related and that has to do with John Kramer and SAW.
Jigsaw needed to be way higher on the list.
***** He was a master of psychology. Making incredible guesses as to which path a person would take when put into a situation. He does manipulation of people is such a way that you often don't know what he's doing until it's over.
*****
If you thought Jigsaw is someone who's only building traps then you don't even know what the fuck is Saw.
If Hannibal Lecter would not have been number 1, I'd been really disappointed :D
You and me both! The whole time I was watching the video I knew Hannibal Lector just had to be # 1 or at least on the list.
blossom punch e
I love Hannibal, but didn't expect to see him on this list. I guess I didn't think him as a villain :)
Well if you agree to his view of the world, wolfs and sheep, survival of the fittest... I think Hannibal wouldn't consider himself a villain :) Maybe that's why you also don't.
completely right.
His not from a movie but Ramsey Bolton was dammn good Villian. As well as the guy from No Country for Old Men.
Ramsey Bolton is from Game of Thrones
which iiiiiiiiiiiiiis................
A show on HBO. Adapted from a book series.
Raidenx147
exactly.
Not a movie, bro.
Yeah but Chigur was just a ruthless stone cold badass, he wasnt really all that genius.
+Auz He said in the first sentence he's not from a movie you acting likenyoure teaching him that just makes you look kind of... foolish
Great list names, but I'm not sure about order (but you were right with Hannibal)
my favorite is kaiser sauzé because he thinks about every single detail of the history and we never sespect him before the end
What about Professor James Moriarty?
who
the arch-nemesis of Sherlock Holmes
He was pretty smart
no shit that was my number 1 pick
sup hey I agree
Comes here for Palpatine, is not disappointed :)
This list is trash but I agree with that Palpatine is a smart one belonging on the list.
Points for saying "...we learn the smartest villains always hide in plain sight" over the backdrop of Kevin Spacey.
What about Gerard butler in law abiding citizen ?
He can make a weapon out of his dinner, that much I know.
Great fucking movie.
+Gregory Puzo He's not really the villain. His motives are fine, but he goes a little over-the-top with his methods.
+Gregory Puzo he's moreso an antihero. The ending is up for grabs to begin with who really was the good guy. Some think Gerard was going to far with his payback... others think he should have torn down the whole system
+Gregory Puzo That movie is very underrated. I would agree with your assessment.
You guys constantly put Elijah Price/Mr. Glass in honorable mention. That was a brilliant performance from Sam Jackson. The character had a strong philosophy behind his motives that makes you question whether or not he was really a villain
I was literally just about to comment this
Ozymandias is my favorite, as the movie says is so smart that he can even catch a bullet.
that makes no fuckin sense
Lots of movie characters can catch a bullet, big deal.
Super Saiyan Goddess not without any superpower
Vibudh Sharma Lots of movie and TV characters with and without Superpowers already have. It's not that impressive
Super Saiyan Goddess name em
What about Clive from Law Abiding Citizen, great villain who even when caught still was one step ahead of everyone else
Me??
yeah, i actually wanted him to win.
Where was Gerard Butler in Law Abiding Citizen?
Awesome movie! I don't know why the hell do critics hate it
Technically, depending on how you look at it, he could be considered an anti-hero. Since it is kinda left up to the viewer to decide, that may be why he was left out.
Not a villain so much as a man seeking justice.
Cynical Cthulhu Isnt that how a lot of villains start out? The justice system may have been corrupt but him killing people with families and children wasnt justified. For me that makes him a villain. If he stopped the killing at the man who killed his family then i could see him as "a man seeking justice"
Your Mom
He needed to send a message, and that certainly did it. I hope this doesn't seem like a rant, cause it's not. lol
Ozymandias wasn't really a villain, it's one of the reasons watchmen was a great film.
A great book
I don't think they "got" Watchmen.
One of the best book to film adaptations made
The graphic novel is amazing, but the film was great as well. Not at the same level of greatness as the book, but still good
Jake Cotton graphic novel not a book and it was a horrible movie
I'm surprised Professor Moriarty from the Sherlock Holmes movies wasn't mentioned.
Agreed, he definitely deserved a spot on this list, he is an absolute genius.
Auric Goldfinger, Hans Gruber & Lex Luthor!!😁👍🏿
- Number One: V, V for Vendetta...
- Yes he was a villian, He even admitted as such here: But on this most auspicious of nights, permit me then, in lieu of the more commonplace soubriquet, to suggest the character of this dramatis persona. Voila! In view humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of fate.
- Number One: V, V for Vendetta... :-)
Isn't V an anti-hero and not a villain ? .-.
Anti-hero. The corrupt government sees him as a villain. But to us, he represents freedom in the form of anarchy. Therefore, anti-hero
the "V" stands Villain...only villains have vendettas...
thetruthis9 You mean to tell me that the government killing gays and political prisoners are the good guys in this??
in the confines of the movie, yes...
Why was the lead velociraptor from "Jurassic Park" not in this? She was a clever girl after all.....
That was just the hunter forgetting a key fact.
Ozymandias is should be higher. In terms of actual smarts he would be number 1, though I know obviously popularity and how well written and interesting he is plays a part.
Yup, but indeed by definition he should be a contender for number one.
and he won in the end too what a villain
I remember getting so mindblown by Watchmen. Loved Ozymandias anti-hero persona. But Anthony Hopkins' Hannibal Lecter is unbeatable. Its an iconic role.
Where is "V"? (from V for Vendetta). With his great masterpiece bloody vengeance plan, Shakespeare quotations, intelligent dialogues, excellent superhuman fight skills, gentleman manners and even high cooking skills (as Evey said - delicious!)
Magda Gdaekakj hahaha exactly ,but he isn,t really a villain he just wants to end the regime in England for the civilians.
@@daan0124 Daan, you're right :)
@@daan0124 You're right Daan :)
Magda Gdaekakj 😄
"Who's your favorite smart villain?"
I'd go with Heath Ledger's Joker.
I didn't know you guys commented on your own videos.
Jerome in gotham
Only heath ledgers version tho. Not the stupid tattood up piece of shit that came later
Heath Ledgers Joker isn't smart....he is just psychotic and crazy
I was talking about the Joker from an animated movie called The Dark Knight Returns
