Viggo Mortensen is criminally underrated. He's a better actor than most of Hollywood. I wish he was cast in bigger movies more 😕
I agree. He was unrecognizable in Green Book, both his voice and his mannerisms... and had a PERFECT Italian Bronx accent. I hope he gets the Oscar
Sam Hart I totally agree.
Ill forever love him in The Lord of The Rings and Hidalgo.
He should have played Roland in the Dark Tower movie.
Agreed too.. tot they would cast him in got..
Viggo Mortensen speaks 7 languages. He can pull up every accent he needs.
Woah 7?!
@@sandrameesala6804 yep. There is a video where he speaks 7 languages
And he is Dannish!
Wow 7 is ridiculous. 2 hurts my brain.
Actors like Daniel Day-Lewis or Gary Oldman could even play a zombie and would still deliver a nuanced portrayal displaying a perfect foreign accent while simply growling. These guys are truely stunning every time.
😂 funny and true
James McAvoy. Split showed a true range of accents
Especially when you compare him to his earlier movies like Wanted and hear how bad he sounded. James McAvoy has come a long way as an actor.
That wasn't him, that was Patricia
Yes another one not mentioned.
Best comment
Being from Ireland, I can confidently say that Leonardo DiCaprio's Irish accent was utter horse shit in Gangs of New York.
It's Irish with hints of the New york accent. Not just Irish.
I'm not from Ireland, but I have to agree. While DiCaprio has an extensive repertoire of accents he's used in various films, I really don't think he done any of them particularly well. It always just comes off as Leo imitating something. I never watch a movie with him in it forgetting that he is playing a role. Gary Oldman, on the other hand, I didn't know he was Zorg (or the Russian loyalist) until many years later. Such an excellent man with accents. On an unrelated subject, I was happy to see a clip of him from The Graham Norton Show. Best talk show ever.
DUKE NUKEM It was a hideously bad accent. Also his Zimbabwean accent is not very good if you've ever actually met people from Zimbabwe.
ribena1235
To be fair, you're named after a concentrated blackcurrant drink. He who resides in glass bottles should not throw stones ;-)
Not a glass bottle, a 100% recycled Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) bottle.
Oldman doesn't get nearly the critical acclaim that he deserves; I'm glad he made #1. He's brilliant.
He gets plenty of recognition, he is considered one of our times "greats" by most movie buffs. He just doesn't have a spotlight on him at all times, so less media exposure. Thats what he wants, he likes privacy.
Fair enough. I think he should be better known.
Anders Kristensen If anyone has any doubts about Gary Oldman's acting ability, tell them to see "Sid and Nancy". I grew up during the Sex Pistols heyday, and Oldman WAS Sid Vicious. I kept forgetting it was an actor playing him.
Love Gary, he never star in a movie plus he is good at doing all sort of stuff that's why it's hard to tell it's him.
Right, Oldman is a far better actor than he gets credit for, and Downey Junior gets far more credit than he deserves
How Christoph waltz didn't make this list blows my mind
Not to be rude...who is he?
I think it's less accents for him and more just that he's native in multiple languages.
Also, his tortured gurgling is heard at the end of the clip ㅋㅋㅋ
START THE CONVERSATION James Tate iii excuse me??? Watch inglorious bastards please and Django its for your own good
Not even an honourable mention...
So true he did english , german, italian and french with high influence a reflection of characters.
According to every dialect coach I have ever watched on UA-cam, Daniel Day Lewis nailed every accent he did in his films
Erik Singer?
Lewis changes not only his accent but also his voice itself.
Daniel Day Lewis knows every accent but his own.
Are you saved friend? If you died tonight will you go to heaven or hell? God Almighty, the Creator was manifest in the flesh. He came into the world to take away the sin of the world. He gave up his own life to save yours. His sacrifice on the cross paid the price for your redemption with his own blood. On the third day he rose from dead and offers the gift of salvation and forgiveness to those that repent and trust in him.
This is the Gospel which means the Good News.
John 1:1,14 KJV
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. [14] And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us,
And Leo never nailed any accent in his movies, but he is American, so Americans praise him for it.
Gutted Sean Connery isn't here. He can do Scottish.....Scottish American....Scottish Russian.....Scottish Irish
Gordon Heaney This comment deserves way more likes.
LMAO
W
lol Heaney that was funny.
Gordon Heaney STOP LYING
There's no question both Michael Fassbender and Christoph Waltz should have been in the top 5 at least.
+Ottawa3453 And Brad Pitt.
+Ottawa3453 actors who can pull off accents, not speak different languages.
+Crowbar Given that Fassbender's natural accent is Irish, he does English, American and German pretty well
+R2S cawaale aden
+Ottawa3453 Fassebender defo
To be honest Gary Oldman is so good at changing everything that I didn't even realize he was the same actor until about 3 years ago. I still get amazed when I watch an old movie with him in it then suddenly realize oh shit that's Gary Oldman.
It's always Gary Oldman :)
The exact same for me! I've watched him in dosens of films not realising it was him. Amazing
Gary Oldman is a real genius. I knew he was gonna be in the first place. I love that man.
Viggo is also a polyglot able to speak English, Danish, Norwegian, French, Italian, and Spanish
i love the word polyglot
Viggo is polyhot
Shifty Girl lmfao right tho
So is Daniel Bruhl
and Elvish
Can Oldman just win his fucking oscar please
CptObvious boy have I got news for you
Too much friggin narration. It would've been better if you showed more of the actors doing their different accents.
That's Mojo for you...idiot narration ruins it. Yap yap yap, and it's about accents but don't hear them.
WatchMojo only exists to show you their list. If you want to see the movie watch it on your own.
@@vchris5378 dumb comment. The list isn't even about movies. It's about actors who can do foreign accents, except they don't show them doing the foreign accents.
@@boplax123 COOL
@@vchris5378 Totally missed the point
You are missing Ralph Fiennes, Jude Law, Christoph Waltz and Marlon Brando.
its missing loads of actors. eddie murphy, robin williams should be on before sasha baron cohen by the way. added to that, Peter Stormare and many dramatic actors who are simply so seemless you might forget they are in the movies should be on here. Eddie Marson, stephen graham, Forest Whitiker etc.
Christopher Waltz should have definitely made the list.
Idris Elba fooled everyone who watched The Wire. Never would I imagine he was from England. Not only he did the American accent, but he pulled off 3 seasons of African Americans hood accent. The guy is just that good.
I agree most people watching this video have probably never heard him speak his native tongue and would be surprised he should easily be top 5
+Julianwilson3 Yeah, Idris Elba suprised the hell out of me when I found out he was actually british.
+Alain Saint Surin People make a lot of hype [not to say I'm much better of course over actors like ELBA and HUGH LAURIE maintaining their accent for several seasons but it 's helped immensely by the the fact that they're surrounded by said accent !! not taking away from them their both great talents another two BRITS in the spotlight!!
+Alain Saint Surin A "'hood" accent...maybe. I will say that you can definitely tell who the Baltimore natives were versus those that weren't and Idris Elba fell into this category easily. He was completely devoid of a Baltimore accent. This was definitely difficult to discern since so many of the main characters didn't even attempt a Baltimore accent. If you look at the characters like Snoop and D'angelo, you can definitely tell that they've spent a lot of time in B-more.
have you seen him in Prometheus, he has a southern American accent and is pretty damn good at it.
Gary Oldman is truly one of the best.
He's the greatest of all time, so that's a given.
DavidAkhter and daniel day lewis
Yep DDL and Gary Oldman are brilliant, though DDL does it more for his craft so he is quite picky but look at his awards.
Dez Smith and
Me: daniel Day-Lewis in second place?!?! Who could be better than him?!!!!
Mojo: Gary oldman
Me: *pikachu face*
Yes Daniel Day Lewis is great with accents, but Gary Oldman has done way more films and accents than Daniel
@@torisefford5671 excactly just check out a compilation of Gary Oldman on accents, all completely beyond believable, Kurshanov, Drexl, Dracula, Zorg, Oswald, Flannery, Sid, Gordon, Verger...
All have their own voice
Gary Oldman is the GOAT!!
most of the list was questionable, but there could be no doubt that Oldman had to be number 1.
@@ppvk2610 it is said that Oldman does a different accent for every movie he is in. The exception is the Dark Knight trilogy because he is the same character for all three movies.
People consistently underrate Alfred Molina. The man is an enigma and he deserves better than not even a mention. Smh
True. He should have received a mention at least. How the eff does Brad Pitt get a mention and not a peep about Alfred Molina? Mojo is trash.
Oldman does deserve 1st place they got that right - but come on.....
What about Cillian Murphy??! He's from Ireland but he fooled everyone with his American accent (in most of his movies) and with his "brummie" accent in Peaky Blinders... Most people don't even know he's irish!
Only fans of Cillian know this 👊
Even I was wondering where the hell was Cillian Murphy!!! Not even as an honorable mention!!! 😭
i am a brummie and can confirm that his accent is shit
Agree!
He had a good accent in Anthropoid
I honestly have no idea what Gary Oldman really looks or sounds like. Almost the same with Daniel Day Lewis.
Yes, my favorite kinds of actors. Ones you have to look at the credits and be like..."What!? That was him!? It took me a bit to realize Gary was in Batman!
No kidding, both excellent.
@@vofcups2836 Woah you watched the video?! No way!
@@jasonk7130 oh well whatever, forgot it was from this clip. If you notice my first comment was 2 weeks prior, I didn't rewatch it.
Gary Oldman himself doesn’t know what he sounds like, lol.
Viggo, viggo, viggo.a great actor and humanatarian who has helped many times in our idaho community for the less unfortunate.he is a humble man who is also very private and we respect that.we love ya viggo
Agree completely with Gary Oldman as number 1 .
Flawless delivery every single time
DDL would be number one.
Hugh Laurie, anyone. His American accent was spot on in House.
Eagle Racer same with Damien Lewis of Band of Brothers, Life and Homeland
Eagle Racer Damn right.
And they have to do the accent for so long and always the same! Pretty skilled. How embarrassing if you are an actor and then one time do the accent super weird and everyone looks at you quietly.
Best American accent by a non American ever!!! It blew my mind when I found out he was British
Agree. I didn't know he was English until later.
Gary Oldman is the only man I know who looks unrecognizable in every film he plays in. He is truly talented
Agreed. He is an amazing actor. I've loved his work since I was a kid.
You forgot Peter Stormare. You can't forget Stormare in a top like this.
He does every east European accent perfect 🤣
True.
I would’ve thrown James McAvoy somewhere on this list
Agreed
So agreed!
I live how you show Wolverine when talking about "American characters." Wolverine is Canadian.
I was literally about to say the same thing.
BikouTenma You do realise canada is part of the continent America, just not the USA? education people
Girtalir
You do realize Canadian is a seperate Nationality, right? Education people.
By your logic, Mexicans and Canadians are the same because the nations are all within the same interlocking continent.
Exactly hahahah a lot of Canadians can pass for Americans though as far as accents go but that is about it.
Girtalir The only people who carry the nationality "American" are people from the USA. Look it up.
Hugh Laurie has an American accent nailed.
mvann5 Yeah, I can't believe he didn't even get a mention! Especially looking at the fact, that even the producers of House thought he was an American after watching his audition vid.
Hugh Laurie would have been in my top 5. And Downey Jr. for his English accent in Sherlock Holmes
mvann5 I was going to mention him too!
:)
*Canadian
I was going to get pissed that Daniel Day Lewis wasn’t #1 until I saw Gary Oldman was in the top spot, he is truly amazing at accents
James McAvoy, the guy is goddamn underrated.
Preach
Um, Ben Kingsley? Indian in Gandhi, Austrian in Schindler's List, both American and British in Iron Man 3.
And French in Freddie The Frog (a.k.a. Freddie As F.R.O.7).
And NZ English in Ender's Game.
***** I'm surprise too. Didn't know he was in it either.
Murica ain't got no ack-seyent! Were MURICAN!!
THANK YOU! And also otto frank from Anne Frank
I could totally see Gary Oldman as Jack Sparrow :D
***** Captain* Jack Sparrow
***** I was just thinking that maybe they copied his style for this character
***** I was just thinking that maybe they copied his style for this character
Could be. Johnny Depp definitely did mix different characters in order to get the character right.
***** I could see him as Walter White
At this point I don't even know who Gary Oldman is anymore lmao.
Neither does he, apparently! (lol from that Graham Norton clip)
"Sirius"ly...
Gary oldman is great at Russian accents, he even played victor reznov in black ops
Who agrees that Gary Oldman should take the top spot on this list?
"EVERYONE!!!!"
fantastic !!!!!
The guy needs more praise.
Who?
Except that bozo whos in love with Tom Hardy.
a bit late...but fully agreed. I mean the guy had to take classes to get his english accent back
James McAvoy should be here~ The guy is scottish lmao but no one knows that until they hear him in interviews
Someone You Know you’re absolutely correct. The accents he pulled off in “Split” should have landed him on this list easily
Someone You Know I was going to say a similar thing about David Tennant
So true! McAvoy was superb in Split! A real tour de force!
True!
Someone You Know yes! I expected to see him on the list. He is a lot better than most of these actors with his proficiency in accents
Hugh Laurie was so convincing the casting director of House didn't know he wasn't American
been watching some of these older videos and you have to love how their point of view sways on certain actors based on the times
I remember being a kid and hearing Viggo with his real accent for the first time and my mind being blown! Such a perfect English accent! x
He's also perfectly fluent in Spanish, having grown up in Venezuela and Argentina.
Hell, he actually speaks like 5 languages
@@chardensama over 7 I think. Catalanyan (I don't know how to write that in english correctly 😅), arabic, danish, french, spanish, Italian, can't remember the others
Mi pesadilla fue escucharlo hablar Español, acento argentino. My biggest nightmare was hearing Viggo talk spanish, argentinian accent
And perfect argentinian and danish
I didn't even know the name Gary Oldman but after looking at his face for a few seconds I just gasped "zorg!" I never realized that actor played so many people!
I loved him as Zorg. He's really amazing in everything he does. Check him out in The Professional.
You damn right!
Hes utterly amazing
They choose his air force one russian over the viktor reznov from world at war... ridiculous
He was also the best Beethoven I've seen on screen.
Sorry but to not reference Oldmans incredible performance in Hannibal with most people who aren't nerds not knowing it was Oldman playing Mason Verger
Colin Ferrell's New York accent as the penguin in the new Batman is absolutely amazing!!... I didn't even know he was in the film until I saw his name in the credits. There's even a clip on him goofing while getting his make up on, and it's amazing.
Viggo Mortensen is half Danish and half American , he lived in his childhood in Argentina and speaks spanish with argentinan accent very well, he has lived during his early twenties in Denmark and obviously he speaks danish , he has mastered not only russian, southern north america accent , British with hints of austrian , but also has had parts in spanish speaking roles making a spaniard accent and argentinan accent .
He also speaks french very well :)
He also speaks french very well :)
SenatorSmeagol thanks for informing me didn't know he could speak french ,but it doesn't surprise me ,he is a man of many crafts he also is a musician and a writer.
Fun fact, He dubbed himself in Hidalgo for the spanish version.
adriana adriana he actually pulls off a very very good french accent.. he lately starred in a movie about my Country's Independence called "Loin des Hommes/ Far From Men" check the trailer if you want to hear em' rock dem french accents :p
Viggo Mortensen does so well because he can actually speak SIX languages (English, French, Danish, Italian, Norwegian, Spanish). I cant argue with his placement on this list, because the accents mentioned in the video are not natural to him, but his speaking background may explain why he does an excellent job when he does one.
Stryker Of Enyo You forgot Quenya and Sindarin! 😄
He learned to speak with a Spanish Leonese Accent in Spanish for Alatriste
Viggo Mortensen does Russian accent much better thаn Gary Oldman. there was not anything in the Oldman's speech in this scene that would sound like Russian accent
Stryker Of Enyo he can also speak elvish
And Swedish probably
You got my LIKE when you put Gary Oldman on the top of the list.
You missed Viggo’s Philadelphia accent in A History of Violence (an accent that is very difficult to pull off).
Also, Wolverine is Canadian (not American), as others have already pointed out here.
And Viggo’s Italian in Green Book.
Gary Oldman's Zorg in the 5th Element was remarkable! A midwest southern accent for an intergalactic vilain was sooo clever!
And the hair.
Eric Bana not even an honorable mention. An Aussie who can do American, British, South African... Underrated talent.
You know who can do a South African accent? Someone from South Africa. No offence but the standard accent that Hollywood assigns to South Africa represents approximately 2% of the population, and that is not even taking regional nuances into account.
I'm with you Karma. There's 11 official languages in SA and each language has about 10 different inflections each depending on the province.
@@Karma-qt4ji Agreed. But, have you heard Andy Serkis? Sounds like he's straight out of Krugersdorp.
Hugh Lorrie's real voice is so British it's impossible to believe it's the same person.
True ....gary oldman gets into character without alot of training and fuss...his method acting is just so amazing...truly underrarted
Sean Connery.. For his extraordinary ability to sound Scottish in every role..
And to pull it off so well lol
😂😂👍
Da Bear Fan they forgot Chadwick boseman
😘😂
As a native Russian speaker, I was extremely impressed by Viggo Mortensen's accent work. It sounds *almost* real :)
I believe James McAvoy is pretty amazing with accents
Gary Oldman and Daniel Day Lewis are both amazing. They have great command of emotion. But it's their ability to change body language and voice that is astonishing. They go beyond being actors. They are becomers. They completely inhabit their role. The same goes for Meryl Streep.
I agree with the number 1 pick. But where is Kevin Spacey?
Yes! Kevin Spacey!
+Gabriel Brownawell In the closet.
For the record....Wolverine is Canadian, not American.
David Young came here to say this
Yeah well it's in the US Constitution that any time Canada wants to join the Union and become a State they can do so no questions asked. So Canada is basically America.
IceDragon978 All Americans live under the Canadians
Able to join anytime =/= already joined.
Derp McDerpson no shit bro.
any one remember an 1987 film with GaryOldman ,playing real life playwright Joe Orton
the film was called (prick up your ears ) brilliant acting by him and rest of the cast , violent
Yes the great director Stephen Frears.
My favourite film of his was "My beautiful laundrettte" with Daniel Day Lewis.
And several of the "Comic strip" series. 😃
Meryl Streep has not just played various accents but she has been nominated for an oscar for most of those performances
THANK YOU! I was going to comment “Where the hell is Meryl Streep?!” but read the previous comments first and saw that you brought her up. Again, THANK YOU!
The title is male actors, though? 🤔
Lol but Wolverine isn't American though. He's Canadian.
Yeah aye. But he doesn't say aboot instead of about. He would be hilarious with a Baston accent though. LOL
I'm American and IMO Boston is the worst accent worse then jersey and more annoying then a Minnesota/Fargo accent. I wonder if foreigners can tell the diff.
Actually, I believe Wolverine was originally born American, but emigrated to Canada at some point.
dksilentbob Really? Thanks for the info! :)
*****
Actually, ya you're right. I just looked it up. I think I was confused because the X-Men Origins movie took liberties with the story and detracted from the canon comic book story line.
Gary Oldman as Vitkor Reznov in CoD : Black ops was one of the voice acting performance in video game history.
When i watched HOUSE and then saw an interview of hugh Laurie...i was shocked. I said why he talking like that? Flawless American accent
Where the hell is Robin Williams?! He's the MASTER of foreign accents!
His "French" accent sucks.
In Mrs.Doubtfire he was trying an English accent but ended up with a Scottish accent.
yeah but wasn't that the point? the English actor noticed it and pointed out that his accent was off lol
Robin played a Russian in Moscow on the Hudson. Didn't hold a candle to Viggo Mortensen in Eastern Promises.
Voices, yes. Foreign accents? No.
On the other hand, the vast majority of these fail fairly harshly at it too, so...
Alan Rickman Britsh, English, Russian and a couple others and he speaks Spanish too RIP sexy Snape
Ariel L Alan Rickman could do British AND English accents!?! Well that's absolutely remarkable!
Good one - and German! Die Hard - Hans Gruber
Ariel L rip
Peter Sellers was the King of accents. He was the human chameleon. What a most unique personality.
I think Tom Hardy, Gary Oldman as and Viggo Mortensen are consistently on point.
But I think Robert Downey Jr Daniel bruhl and Michael Fassbender are consistently on point.
Right to put Gary Oldman on first place, he's the best :) !
WTF, can you say spoiler alert
salchichadegrasa Oh sorry... um.. SPOILER ALERT! there :)
That's all I wanted. Thank you:)
salchichadegrasa You're welcome :)
Well, maybe but that "Transylvanian" accent was wrong :)
AND CHRISTOPH WALTZ??
maybe it's just because I speak German and English, but I can still hear his Austrian accent when he plays English/American roles. his french accent is amazing though lol
indeed
Christoph Waltz like Johnny Depp is an extremely limited actor, always playing the same roles. His English is okay, but you can always hear the snarky and arrogant Austrian.
His French is amazing but his Austrian accent is easily recognizable.
His English is ok? You may be talking about just his accent but his ability to use the English language is great especially since its not his first language.
Peter Sellers seems to be so good he looks like David Niven. Or was the editor good with recognising accents but not faces?
Trouble is the two he's best known for are clichés of Indian and French. Really don't think that counts.
Gary Oldman...Simply brilliant 😽🙏
And Christoph Waltz????????
Indeed!!!!
I agree! Although he rarely plays anything besides a German (and he's German-Austrian) :P but it also helps that he's fluent in German, French, and English
DasOtello digger.... der ist deutscher ;D
Auch wenn er kulturell natürlich Ösi ist...
Wasn't even an honorable mention!? But they show like four scenes from bastards...
he has a German accent in every movie; his characters are even usually German
Wolverine isn't american. He is Canadian.
Hugh Jackman is Australian. Wolverine, the Marvel character, is Canadian.
HUGH JACKMAN, YES !!!! BUT NOT WOLVERINE : marvel.com/universe/Wolverine_%28James_Howlett%29 WOLVERINE IS CANADIAN. THE ACTOR HUGH JACKMAN IS AUSTRALIAN. I GET IT, THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
+Anglo-Sphere MP What is wrong with you?!
+Anglo-Sphere MP No worries. For a bit I was completely sure you were trolling me.
+Saku Cherry Kim Canada is in America.
Gary Oldman as Sid Vicious. Wow. I love all of these actors. It was so fun to see Viggo and Daniel and Robert. I just wish the narration would take a back seat to the actors' lines, instead of all the blather. Less blather, more of the accents.
Yes his performance was amazing as Sid, then he turns around and plays Beethoven in My Immortal Beloved.
When viggo says "i am driver". He is actually using his argentine accent. He spend most of his life here and his father stayed here
Wolverine is Canadian...
+Rensune lolololololollo
+Rensune IKR? I was just thinking that.
***** Hm, yeah. I keep forgetting that. Usually when people say American they're referring to people from the US.
+Oskar Mexicans and "Central" Americans are North Americans.
By Americans, Countries universally mean US citizens because they're the only Country in North or South to have America in the Country's name.
***** No, it's not.
Viggo is awesome. He is fluent in many languages and speaks Spanish like a true Argentinian !! Love him !! :-)
Don't forget that he speaks Danish too :)
WANTZiN That´s what I said : "He is fluent in many languages". :-)
I love Viggo Mortensen! Especially on "Eastern Promises"! Trully an underrated gem.
I'm a Viggo fan, but in a way, to have a guy like him on the list who's multi-national in many ways and a polygot is kind of like cheating. ;) (But I'd still put him on the list lol )
He speaks English, Danish, Spanish, French and Italian, and understands Norwegian and Swedish.
FFS he can even speak some Catalan.
Gerard Butler's American accent in Geostorm was surprisingly very good.
All extremely talented people in so many ways...Great list.
Viggo Mortensen speaks fluent Spanish with native Argentinian accent and can act with Spaniard accent... Movie: Alatriste...
And he is half danish
And a fan of san lorenzo
@@karisimonsen9827 Lol dont spread lies pls he 's actually a Dunedain
He is so good at speaking like an Argentinian that I thought he was, until I saw this video!
i think tom hardy should at least be an hounarable mention
+AmazingJoe96 Yeah, his accents aren't terribly impressive.
+AmazingJoe96 Oh man check his accent in Peaky Blinders
Alantan ok i haven seen that yet
Alantan It's not bad, but then again, it's him doing a slightly different accent than his native one is, so it's not as impressive as an American actor doing a British accent (or vice versa). Hardy's American accents aren't too bad, they're just not great, is all.
+niptuck117 his accent for john fitzgerald in the revenant was pretty damn good
Probably need another list now been a lot of good ones since this list came out
All of them rock. You guys picked the right ones. Excellent actors.
I was watching this and telling my self Gary Oldman must be in the first place, Gary Oldman must be in the first place, Gary Oldman must be in the first place...
Aida Ca IS HE NOT???? (im literally only halfway in, lol)
Aida Ca weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelp 😂 guess who finished the video, lol
Rose Cortes yeah 😂😂😂
Aida Ca no daniel day lewis
Me, too. I love every accent he has ever done. He's my favorite person in Fifth Element, wished he had better actors to work with in Dracula (sorry, but Keanu and Winona ruined that movie for me). He is also a chameleon with very little makeup.
I know this seems weird to say, but even when Christian Bale nails an American accent (Batman and The Fighter), he gives away his nationality by how he moves his mouth when he talks. I know it seems weird, but it's true.
Interesting, it is logical as he mimics an accent but I (and I believe most people) don't see such subtle differences...
That's usually how most people do it. South African accent is easily done by keeping lower lip tight to the teeth, American by taking slightly out the side of your mouth, slightly curling top lip for Russian, pouting for French.
I wouldn't agree with the physiognomy theory you propose. Most nationalities don't have a specific look, otherwise there's always hats :-p
Yeah anytime I watch Christian Bale film, he always seems to have some type of lisp, but that's just me.
***** It's true. I think it's to do with diet. If you look at photos from a century ago the people tend to have more defined jaw lines.
Hank Azaria does some truly convincing accents, I'm surprised he wasn't on the list
Gary sounded great with his Viktor Reznov voice. My favorite one!!
James "Logan" Howlett a.k.a The Wolverine is Canadian...
Fox bought the rights to the film and name...they prefaced with "American roles". Fox studios is based in L.A. and is therefore, an American role because he was instructed to "sound American". They know he's Canadian, but he still portrays him as American sounding. Therefore it is an American role. "Australia" was co-produced by 20th Cent. Fox but was still considered Australian as it was released in Australia and the entire persona was australian.
No duh, dude. And yes, if anything, he's Canadian-American. I get that. You can be Canadian and sound "American". Northern North America is still North America. I know Canadian people who live on the border of NH and VT with Canadian accents as well as those American accents. Same goes for the Midwest and the Pacific Northwest. Still, they should have referred to it as a Canadian-American accent or just North American.
yea you're right, they should have. It was a very simple google search away.
a 'Canadian-American' is a term referring to being an american with Canadian parents - 'American-Canadian' is the reverse. the term you are looking for when referring to the accent is "North American-English".
That's not exactly accurate. "African American" certainly doesn't pertain to having an african parent and being American. As you'd be far fetched to find a black person you even know that had parents that weren't born American. Yet the term "African American" is still the correct term. Plus how many generations have to be born into American culture to no longer be considered native to where their families came from? Yet that still wouldn't work because the United States census doesn't recognize generations as a unit of measure. Canadian-American literally means (and this is according to my human geography college course), that they are of direct Canadian descent residing in America, OR are born Canadian citizens, and now reside as US American citizens. They might change things in the future but screw political correctness. My brother was born in Japan, yet he's as white and American as they come. He can be considered Japanese-American if he chooses. He does not. He's also of strong Italian descent. He's still just American. His Dad was born here.
Viggo mortensen is the best for different languages not just accent
In fact he played a spaniard caracter in a spanish production with a flawless spaniard accent. Even though his natural accent is argentinian. He doubled himself in Hidalgo with a north mexican/neutral accent.
Well put. Of course he speaks In real life he speaks several of them fluently : English, Spanish, Norwegian and I don't know how many others. Do you?
@@ShirlEllen he speaks French
He speaks 7 languages, English, Spanish (wit an agertin accent), French, Catalan, Danish, Latin and I don't remember the seventh but if you've seen the Lord of the Rings trilogy you'll know he also speak elvish
Viggo knows 7 languages
Gary Oldman perfected the Russian accent when he voiced Reznov in black ops
I was literally thinking the whole video that if Gary Oldman wasn’t #1, the entire thing was a sham. He is brilliant!
Alan Cumming-he is a native born and bred Scotsman-accents are, Irish, several varieties American, German, Several varieties of English. I know he sings beautifully in French, but have never heard him act with that accent. Glad to see he at least made the Honorable Mention list.
Whats about Chistoph Waltz he's Austrian Oscar winner for his role as a german, played an english speaking russian in'die hard' and he speaks perfect german as well as french
And when he also speaks Italian (not sure if he can in real life) in Inglorius Basterds
JohnDanielTorrance he can't in real life, he learned those lines just for the role :)
Everyone in Austria speaks German, just saying ...
Christoph Waltz wasn't in any of the Die Hard movies.
I know that all austrians speak german but it isnt realy the same cause their german is so different that the most germans (i am ) dont understand them, they have like the strongest exent there is.
Might as well name this list “list of Best British actors”
The Walking Dead has a lot of actors that are British, fooled a lot if people,
Surprised not to see Michael Sheen on the list but fair play for having DDL and Gary Oldman as 2&1 respectfully. Those boys are the Don’s when it comes to acting in general currently!
Anothny Hopkins is good too. He did a Kiwi (New Zealand) accent perfectly, which almost EVERY actor has failed to do because they always sound aussie
I disagree. His Kiwi accent wasn't on point
The Australian accent is just an evil version of the New Zealand accent (as Bret and Jemaine will tell you).
If we're just talking Top Ten Male Actors of the 20th and 21st Centuries, Hopkins would belong on that list, and very high up. Accents aren't his strength, though. Voice modulation, definitely--amazing!--but not necessarily all that great with accents. Aside from his voice, his brilliance is in his eyes, subtle facial expressions, head tilts, gestures, and--up until his seventies, anyway--his overall body control: his posture, his walk, and so on. One of the best ever who can act the hell out of a scene with his back turned to the camera.
I come from Invercargill, New Zealand, and I can tell you that not only was it on point, but it was on point for the years he was portraying. Children were actually taught a specific accent at the time to more closely imitate the 'Queen's English' as unfortunately back then there was still a huge pressure to be seen as a closely related commonwealth country. Anthony's accent had a perfect mix of Southland drawl and the enforced English inflection that Munro would have had at the time.
How Hugh Laurie in house isn't here, i have no clue. there are a lot of people that think he is actually american.
+Josh M (MEZNAY) I'd say it's cause he hasn't done enough different things. I actually think his US accent is a little OTT in house
Very, very good list.
Gary oldman is a legend full stop. Dicaprio's accent in blood diamond was mind blowing and I always thought Vigo was English. Brilliant x
Viggo Mortensen also speaks danish, that is something not even most danish people do.
Wow .... but the nice lady told us he's from New York City. Ptssssssch! Russian language is half danish-swedish spiced up with beluga Caviar and a pint of Vodka
oh yeah! sorry about that. I forgot about the Babushkas
Dudes his from denmark
