- Fred Guttenberg, whose daughter was killed in the school shooting at Stoneman Douglas high school, challenged Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) over Rubio's record on guns during CNN's Stand Up Town Hall.

Only smart people (Republicans) can understand this fact which is why Marco Rubio & other Republican Politicians are correct and the Dems & Libs are wrong....... I suppose I could vote to raise the age limit on buying firearms to 21 and ban Bump-Stocks, but What needs to be done is to FORTIFY schools by allowing TEACHERS TO BE ARMED, and having police and/or armed guards in schools, plus locking school doors with Buzzer Systems & Metal Detectors.

Well not to take away anything from banning weapons. One of the differences though is all those countries have a single payer health Care system and much better access to treatments. So while I think we should be talking about banning these weapons just like the countries you mentioned we should equally be talking about providing healthcare for everyone while not throwing random pills at every perceived problem. Donald Car accident means it was an accident, cars are a mode of transportation. Guns are not used for transportation but to kill. 17 people didn't die because of a gun accident. Guns are used to kill people and when people use guns on other people it's on purpose. Guns need to be regulated and have laws that heavily effect their use just like cars are regulated and have operating and traffic laws. Some cars are not street legal.

But to imagine the heartache of a parent that lost their child makes me understand that changes need to be made. If I was Rubio I would've hugged this man and assured him I would do everything in my power to help pass regulations.

It’s not just a single factor, but many factors combined. Failed information and regulation also played a big part, but him being legally allowed to buy a highpowered firearm definitly played as the biggest factor.

We should do what both sides are proposing (except arming teachers, because that's just batshit insane). 1)Yes we should improve the background check process on firearms, making it far more stringent than it currently is and get rid of any gunshow and internet loopholes. 2) Yes, we should ban bump stocks. 3) Yes, we should stop selling military grade weapons that are designed to kill human beings. Sorry, collectors! Our children's safety trumps your hobby. This is a national crisis. Get on board. 4) We should devise better security for schools. I'm not talking about arming teachers, because that sounds like an even worse idea. I wouldn't be opposed to simple metal detectors like when you walk into any government building. Many schools already do this.
An AR-15 isn't military grade. There are no gun show loop holes as those who sell weapons at those shows will lose their license if sell to someone without a background check. Following your logic, we should ban hammers, screw drivers, machetes', cars, baseball bats or anything that can be use to kill anyone. What some of you really want is for the government to be the only ones allowed to have weapons for protection. God help us all when that happens. The six most deadly words that can be spoken - "the government is here to help!"
