- Wavertree is a historic iron-hulled sailing ship built in 1885. In 1910, after sailing for a quarter century, the ship was dis-masted off Cape Horn and barely made it to the Falkland Islands. Now the largest wrought iron sailing vessel afloat, it is located at the South Street Seaport in New York City.

Karl Kortum saved these vessels for us in the future to admire. What a driven man.
Read 'The Last Grain Race' for a thrilling account of what it was like to race around Cape Horn with a cargo of grain.
My g-grandfather was Shipwright on the Wavertree, Peter Fagan from North Shields in England.
Wow! He's part of history, too. Thank you.
@@uasupply I remember my Dad telling me Peter Fagan had built a scale model of the Wavertree, but he didn't know what became of it.
Cool! This would be a great find, also for the museum.
excellent, thanks
Thank you!
... and then? You just kinda stop talking, like time stops.
And now she's a museum ship. Thank you for watching the video till the end. It’s very difficult to hold someone’s attention for a long time, so you have to reduce the video time.
@@uasupply at least you spelled "wrought" correctly.
