It's been almost 2 years since this drama air, but god damn but I think KES reach her peak at this drama. I know, there's The King after this drama, but istg it cannot live up to this. In this drama, there's no Damsel in distress, Aeshin was too badass to be called a Damsel, Hina was also too classy to be called Damsel. Our Hero, he ain't some weakling man that force her woman to stop fighting cause he scared it will hurt her. No, Eugene knew he cannot stop Aeshin to fullfil her destiny, so he stand by her side, do whatever it takes to help her fullfil free nation dream. Our 2nd lead man, instead of fighting, claiming who can get Aeshin's attention, they also help Aeshin's destiny. The ending hurt me, deeply, not because so many characters died, but because it was so well written, I feel like there's somewhere in the past, someone exactly like Aeshin, Eugene, Dongmae, Heesung, and Hina. This drama is definitely 10/10, from storyline, acting, cinematography, and soundtrack. Mr. Sunshine definitely raising the standard for any kdrama.
Help me, I got a serious Blockbuster Syndrome after watching this drama. Seriously, now everytime I saw a new drama I always thinking : why did the female character so weak, annoying and reckless, why they can't be like AeShin or Hina? Why did the male character fall for such character? Why the story and dialogue are so cheesy, not deep and thoughtful and smart like Mr. Sunshine? When will this Syndrome fade away? It so hard for me to move on from this drama 😭
everyone will feel the same after watching Kim Eun Suk Writer-nim's dramas.. it took me months to move on from Goblin and DOTS too.. and now this drama.. 😅😭
Goodbye Mr. Sunshine... It's impossible to say "see you again" unless you appear in other drama and movies, I'm rooting for all the casts in this drama, they are truly magnificent! And this drama like movie is incomparable 👏👏👏
Sadly, it is not our history if the drama ends in happiness and everyone lives. It is sad, but like the ending of the drama, our history was really so and we were able to say "See you again in my independent country" by people who survived to the end..! Please don't think this drama is exaggerated and distorted. I hope all of the people don't forget the fight of the Joseon, which was horrible but did not give up hope!! Goodbye, Mr.sunshine🇰🇷
Personally i don't think this drama exaggerated or so. I'm Indonesian and i can relate to this story at some point since my country got invaded by other countries (Japan included) as well. As for the ending, i think Kim Eun Sook really choose the best ending for this drama. It's sad but... that's the history. What amazing about this drama is they can make me think that people like Eugene Choi, Go Ae Shin, Gu Dong Mae, Kudo Hina and Kim Hui Sung also the traitors are real.
I felt deep emotions while watching this because my country Pakistan was under British control those days and we got our independence in 1947. My grandfather told me about conditions those days. Our ancestors sacrificed alot.
As an Egyptian I could relate to this drama very well as we have a similar history. Both Egypt and Korea were full of occupiers and were the victims of the world wars and invaders. The invaders in Egypt were (England, Turkey, France, and Israel "The Occupied Palestine" tried in 1973 but they failed because of our strong army at this time). However, both countries had the righteous army to defend them and also both had the same type of traitors. Even after all those sorrowful events, at the end, Egypt and Korea could made it to their independence. I cried a lot while watching this drama. Not because of the love story, but because of the country loyalty stories that are similar to Egyptian ones. All the love and respect from Egypt 💕
I just finish the series,. Its good drama, casts and osts. I like happy ending, but for this drama when i first watching i think it impossible to be happy ending, so i prepared myself. And then yeah now i cant move on. Plus i cried alot. Iam just crybaby 😢😢
Inaa Naara I misunderstood your comment for saying it had a happy ending...I just finished it today and was so fucking mad at you. I guess I should have read your comment better
@@adilaajimi2651 I think I just got that and it will last for more. I have to deal with it for more months as my country will broadcast in a local media.
this drama could be very hard to understand for foreigners bc they dont know our history as well as we do. however im so glad that many foreigners watched this drama and deeply sympathize with our sad part of history.
As a Filipino, I can very well understand your pain. Mr Sunshine really resonated our experience as Filipinos. If you have the Righteous Army, we have the Katipuneros and Hukbalahap. We were also colonized by Spain, America and Japan. I hope we heal from our wounds as a nation and move forward. "Take a step forward"- Eugene Choi :)
Even though I am a foreigner trust me I cried at each episode and for every death thinking that this actually happened .. I cried when I saw how proud were these people how they never gave up on their country ..how they protected it with their lives.. How they carried their flag in their last moments..even though I am not Korean I felt so proud..
느감스트갑 I do understand your colonial pains and the outcomes of unjust wars, this show is really amazing, masterpiece and deserves Oscar awards. I loved it, the acting, performance, music and of course history before that. God bless Korea and Koreans ❤️👍👏❤️
느감스트갑 As an American, I am so sorry for what’s happened to your country. It is actually America’s fault. We made a deal with Japan that if we kept the Philippines, we wouldn’t argue with Japan over Joseon. So I’m sorry for what my powerful nation did. We should have protected Korea in order to protect and preserve the culture, identity, freedom, and rights of people. Let’s face it, Korea was too weak to defend itself during that time. If America won over Korea from Japan, there would be no World War 2, and many Koreans would not have died. Instead of telling the Koreans to stop speaking Korean and adopt American names instead, the Koreans would be fluent in both English and Korean and would have a flourishing culture. But anyway, I resonate with the drama because an American is the main character, Eugene Choi!! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
To all Netflix Kdramas, I think this takes the number one spot for me. This is so magnificent and beautiful that this will survive in many years. I recently watched a lot of other shows, including my favorite shows of my most favorite Actors, Joo Won and Song Joong Ki (maybe because I haven't watched Descendant's of the Sun, yet) but none has the same impact as Mr. Sunshine. Lee Byung Hun takes that top-notch acting that none has surpassed him yet. It's obvious why he could act around really popular men like Bruce Willis. I admired Lee Byung Hun because of this series and went to watch Magnificent 7 and Red 2. I was just... WOW in his performances.
This Ost add a unique taste to the scenes I loved it.. I really didn't expect a happy ending for such drama so I didn't mind coz there's no independence without a sacrifices.. I loved the whole drama and the ending and the cast and everything about it, it was a masterpiece
