  • Check out how Mo Volans uses the xfilter rack on an insert loop of his DAW for some careful additive enhancement on a master buss. This is part 1 of 3 - more coming very soon. Enjoy it, and stay tuned!

I special ordered one in the early spring of 2015 through the largest music store here in Canada. They told me it was the first one they'd sold. Needless to say I felt special. ;)
I own a studio and record/produce/mix regularly. I've used it on every mix since - pure magic!

An old video but please, gain staging. when EQ has engaged with your changes the volume increases by 3db +... no wonder it sounds "amazing". please compensate for the volume.

I'm dying to out my hands on one of these, and I'll use it as my main mastering eq for now, would that be realistic for most styles and applications?

The basic sound characteristic is wide and open, it's all class-A, very flexible and sounds absolutely high end. Plus, all the controllers have detents, which is great for mastering, too. Possible limitations could be if you'd need more parametric bands or a fully sweepable Q control. But in the end of the day, quite some people use it exactly for this application and are very happy with it.

Thanks guys, for the response and for the amazing gear. I'm already a happy Elysia user, I own an mpressor and I'm always blown away by it. I hope the Xfilter would complement my mastering/2bus setup just as well!

Diego Oliveira Absolutely. It's a really cool combination. The only thing to consider is that the headroom of the mpressor is higher than the xfilter, but if you don't overdo it with extremely high levels, you'll be just fine.

Great, and about the headroom ceiling on the xfilter, no problem there, I believe i'll use it tastefully, and then I'll upgrade to the Museq so thing can get effectively into place. The one dawnside for me is that I don't get a chance to demo any of those units, I live in Brazil and I always have to buy on the blind via american e-stores, I would love to put my hands on it before, that way I could even go straight to the Museq, but what to do right? Thanks guys!

Diego Oliveira I understand, and this makes deciding for certain pieces of gear really not so easy. In the case of the xfilter (and of course the museq), I am very certain you won't be disappointed. We get only the most positive user feedback on our EQs... All the best, and have a good start into 2015!
