MEXICO - Baja California. Excerpt from the film: Hot peppers Mexican style.

The tip of the Baja California peninsula is separated from the Mexican mainland by the Sea of Cortez. At its southernmost tip, this sea meets the wild Pacific. In this approximately 1,700 km long bay lie many beautiful, sometimes deserted beaches.
Miraculously, Baja California was not annexed to the USA after the Mexican-American War. This was the case with other states of today's USA such as Colorado, New Mexico, California, Utah, Arizona.
Later, in the 18th century, Dominican and Jesuit friars established mission stations all along the peninsula. From the northernmost Mission del Descanso to the southernmost in San Jose del Cabo, there are a total of 26 .
The special metabolism of the cactus allows the vents in the skin to be closed in the heat of the day, reducing water loss through evaporation. The opening of the vents and the exchange of gases occurs at night, often with an impressive play of colours. However, this theatre usually lasts only a few minutes.
