Shows how to use molar conversions to convert from grams to moles and moles to grams. You can see a listing of all my videos at my website, www.stepbysteps...
I’m currently struggling through chemistry myself, and I can’t understand my teacher’s words at all. I’m in a pit of bad grades I need to dig myself out of, and it’s been really challenging for me. At the bottom of the pit, you are my shovel. Thank you for helping me climb out of this cycle of failure :)
This frustrates me so much, because my chem teacher has taken 2 entire months to teach this stuff and he over complicates things and i am so frustrated how you have explained everything in a 5 minute video, and the fact that i watched a 15 minute video on grams to grams and moles to moles. WHY DON'T THEY TEACH IT LIKE THIS? imagine how much could be covered if every teacher wasn't such a bonehead. 2 months of the curriculum covered in 20 minutes. beautiful and frustrating, you are a hero.
That's because most teachers have a three years degree plus one year for the teaching qualification and that's it. Anyone with an MSc plus PhD obviously has much deeper knowledge, the higher you get the easier it becomes to explain concepts. I have been a sub for many years and decided not to become a permanent teacher because of the level of mediocrity required. The system itself doesn't really allow passionate teachers in. I had to fight against the skepticism of my own colleagues, yet my pupils did progress because I did not give up on them. whatever their status or diagnosis was.
Thank you so much ;-; My Chem teacher is terrible at explaining any of this and I have a test on it in the morning, so I was freaking out because I didn't know what to do. Normally, I get straight A's, but I am actually failing his class purely because of how quickly he talks and how little he actually walks you through it. Much of the time, he actually will put you down for not understanding what he meant. Again, thank you so much, it makes more sense now. You rock Brian the Science Guy
So glad I came upon your videos. You explained it so easily, I was able to finish my solution problems with confidence that I can set up these problems and solve them correctly. Thank you sooooooooo much!
I wish I had you as a lecturer rather than the one I have currently. He just waffles on and on and on the end we end up learning nothing! Your small video has made me learn what i have been banging my head against the wall with for days! Thank you and god bless :)
i have a test tommorow on this where my teacher tried to make me memorize some formula to do this conversion, in your five minute video you TAUGHT me how to doit flawlesly and for that i thank you my good sir
My teacher at school made me memorise a conversion formula and I had no idea what on earth I was doing until I saw your video which made gave my mind a clearer picture of what I was doing. So thank you for this
+Andrea Novella Yes if you understand the concept then there should be nothing to memorize. You can see a listing of all my videos at my website, www.stepbystepscience.com
You are great, when I'm in class the teacher makes it look really difficult and don't explain why are we doing certain stuff. I find it hard to learn something and remember it over time if don't understand the reason why i'm doing whatever he tell us to do. Great explanation and nice job. Keep them coming.
I found your videos today. I was listening to your lectures while I walked my dog, to prepare for the Praxis. I could only listen to your voice. As I was listening, I said, "I bet he's a southpaw."
No. Thank you! That was very helpful. I was absent on the day of a test, so I had to take it while my teacher was talking about this. I had homework on it even though I didn't learn about it, so watching this video helped me finish it in no time. You make things very easy to understand. Good work!
Great and thanks for letting me know. I just tryto go Step By Step, in fact you can see a listing of all my videos at my website, www.stepbystepscience.com
Thanks so much for these videos!! I just moved to this new town where chem honors class is JUST AWFUL! These videos have been soooo helpful!! Thanks again!!
Thank you so much step by step science!! Very helpful. Despite my friends and teacher explaining dimensional analysis many times, I just didn't get it. But you thoroughly explained it. I really appreciate it!
This video was really helpful! Really clear cut explanation. My chemistry teacher uses the same method (the multiplication and a division line thing) but I understood this much more. Thank you again!
+The Science Witch Excellent, I always try to go over everything step-by-step….in fact… You can see a listing of all my videos at my website, www.stepbystepscience.com
+Obamas Pet Ferret Hey I have my chemistry midterm tomorrow too! That's so funny cause I've been trying to figure everything out and UA-cam helps way more than the actual teacher.
I love the star nosed mole in your video. I finally understand the concept. I should do really well on the quiz! Thanks so much and I am so happy I found you.
u are absolutely wonderful. My chemistry professor is really sweet but he is not great at teaching. he failed an entire class last year and is on academic probation. I have my first exam tomorrow on the first 6 chapters & before this video I was completely lost ... today is the day a light finally clicked because of your video. thank you!
I have my Chemistry final tomorrow, and our last chapter that's going to be on the final are molar conversions. This helped me understand it much better. Thank you so much. I might just pass the final now :)
You have to calculate what is known as the molar mass. The molar mass is the mass of 1 mole of a substance. This is what you use to convert between grams and moles.

Thank you for the very poetic note of appreciation. Wishing you all the best.
such a life saver..... my teacher makes this so complicated. thanks alot.
Mine too
It’s complicated in general, it’s really hard to learn in the beginning but you just have to keep looking at everything complicated and simple.
My teacher spent 3 days trying to teach this and still I didn't get it until I watched this video. BRAVO
+FrogMiester Yes, just go step by step. Thanks for the comment. You can see a listing of all my videos at my website, www.stepbystepscience.com

Whats up with you now did you graduate
Studying for my chem final and this was extremely helpful for those back to the basics that are easy to forget!!!
Meghan DiMarco Excellent, I wish you lots of success on your chem final.

You should have explained in the beginning that the number 58.32 g came from the addition of (1x 24.3050) of Mg+( 2x15.9994) of O+( 2X 1.00794) of H.
+j.j Cagney He said it is on another video and he provided the link in the video. great explanation on the other video.
j.j Cagney THANKYOU. I was trying to figure it out
he made a vid about it b4 so he assumed you already knew.
helpful!
TWO YEARS LATER AND STILL HELPING PEOPLE. THANK YOU.

+Precious J. Great good luck on the test!
8 years and still making a difference. Thanks

You explained this better than my teacher. Thank you! I'm going to follow up with the 'moles to particles' you mentioned below.
Thanks for the positive comment and I hope the next video was also helpful.

. . . OMG Brian thx so much bro
+Tabraz Khan Congratulations, I am glad that it went well and that I could help out! Thanks for commenting.
Hey not a problem ;)
the molar mass is 147.02 g, add up the molar masses of the elements from the PT, 1 Ca + 2 Cl + 2H2O (or 4 H +2 O) = 147.02
Thanks to you, I now understand how to do my homework. You explained it very well. Thank you!
I went weeks not understanding this until I came across your video you are the absolute best
i am glad that you found my channel

You're so much better than my chemistry teacher.
That is too bad. But thanks for the comment.
Wow, we're taking molar mass in Science test Grade 9.
Thanks for these videos IT HELPED ALOT
Extremely clear... thank you! I wish my college professor could break in down like this!
Lucy G Thanks for the positive comment, I just try to go step by step.
I learned more in youtube than in school.

Glad you think so!
Thnx so much, better help than my teacher can.
Eva, G stands for what you were given, either grams or moles and F stands for what you are trying to find, either grams or moles.
thanks for explaining, very helpful for my test on
gcse chemistry tomorrow
