But yes, I agree 100%. I like The Substance a whole bunch, it actually felt like an older, campy 1960s or 70s, era horror film, with a bit of Hitchcock for good measure. It has a very straight forward thesis (society, and media especially, forces women to mine their sexuality in order to commercialize it, with little regard for the women themselves), and everything about that movie was in service to that thesis, from the plot, cinematography, and even the almost parody-level Cronenberg-esq body horror. There were so many points while watching it where I felt like the film SHOULD be over-the-top, but top notch directing and acting grounded everything back into that believable thesis, which made this film one of the best horror films (or even films period), I've seen in the past few years.

Such a good movie. That ending goes hard for sure.
Check out Coralie's previous movie, Revenge. It's great, but The Substance is a masterpiece!
