Greetings from Brazil! I've purchased the game a few months ago and haven't gone through the rules, as I found it complicated. But your explanation was neat and sharp, straight to the point! Thank you very much! 😉
It must have been a hassle to record and edit this video... the amount of info given seems overwhelming due to the complexity of the game, but you, sir, performed the top level, as usual. Thanks!
my daughter is gonna love this. I am already preparing her for Mice and Mystics when she is old enough. This will of course HAVE to be bought and saved for a later date. :) Great video as always Rodney
I purchased this game at the last Essen fair. We really loved the mechanics and the little gameplay we tried, but we haven't had the opportunity to try it at home yet. For me this is a great re-explanation of the rules. Thank you !
Thanks again for this Rodney. I haven't played for a while and this was just what I needed as a reintroduction. Love the index too, very helpful! I absolutely love this game and love how tactical it is.
How come this video has onle 24K views and 250ish likes? Your videos are great. They really explain the games in a mildly fast paced and technical accurate explanations. Meaning, you do not waste any words in the videos. Different from other channels which I do feel like I'm learning less from the videos in the same video duration. I don't even know why I'm not subscribed yet. I'm going to fix that right now!
I don't generally like to dip this far back into my videos when planning a new play through. I wouldn't rule it out entirely, but it's not very likely!
Such a good game. Such a pity that it's dead. I was just watching a review of the new GW LOTR game and it somehow reminded me of this. I came here to remember how to play and I'll be dusting this one off this weekend.
Got my copy of the game as a gift yesterday! Games feels and looks (again!) great. Haven't been able to play a full-game yet. Simply too many rules to take in within about 2 hours of setting up and skipping through this video to get it all right. Can't way to play it fully!
@@guilhermefernando2781 Thanks for the timestamp. One challenge is that I don't know what you mean by: "How works the "buy pile" of the action cards?". I'm not sure exactly what you're asking - so I might not be able to help you. The other problem is that if you didn't find the video was clear, I no longer have this game, so I don' thave the rules to be able to look up the answer for you. You might have an easier time checking on the rules form over at BoardGameGeek. I'll share the link - maybe you'd find it helpful to ask there: boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/179820/tail-feathers/forums/66
Great video as always, Rodney! I bought it a few days ago and I was surprised at how overwhelmed by the rules I was. For instance, Cry Havoc felt a lot easier to grasp. The rulebook could've been better I think. As always your videos are of great help. Some things that popped up during my first game were: can a miniature perform a ranged attack even if it's in close range from the target it intends to attack? Birds can only attack ground units or nests with swoops or can they just end their movement near their target close enough to be at close range and perform a regular melee attack with its pilot's attack value? Thank you very much in advance!
On page 10 of the rules there is a Note that says "When making a ranged attack with a figure that is sharing a space with 1 or more enemy figures, it can only target those figures it is sharing a space with.", so I think you're all good targeting close figures with a ranged attack. Melee applies to ground figures, but a bird that is perched, is considered a Ground figure, so it could attack after perching. Hope that helps!
So it just occurred to me. In the tilting phase, when you decide to leave a bird perched, later on when it comes to the activation phase you can simply treat it as a ground unit for purposes of moving it following tree movement rules and performing melee or ranged attacks following the same rules for those as you would for a squad unit?
12:16 do I perform a piloting check on launching perched birds? Because the rulebook says launching birds are considered flying at center tilt and must perform a flight movement, being the piloting check the first step of flight movement wouldn't it be in order?
Hi Rodney. What are my options if i wish to keep a bird perched after activation ? Does is move around the tree like a large minion ? What are its attack options then ? Can ""take-of" be declared only in the Tilt phase, or can i decide this once i activate my bird ? Cheers
Hey Jouster, I generally try to answer all questions related to games I've featured, but this is one I don't have a copy of currently to be able to check for you, and I shot this long enough ago that I don't recall the specific rules details. The forums on Board Game Geek might be able to assist. boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/179820/tail-feathers
@@WatchItPlayed Thanks for the quick reply Rodney. I am in the middle of compiling several threads on bgg on this topic. From what i noticed so far, during the Tilt phase, a perched bird, instead of leaning back to indicate take off, can act as a large creature with the attacks values provided only by the pilot stats. In this mode it can benefit from the scurry action, just like any land creature. This may not be 100% accurate, but provides enough theme to make it fun :)
I pre-ordered this in the first week, pretending that I wasnt going nuts with anticipation. I can't wait for it to ship! Question. If you are playing with the death spiral rule, do you still do the auto wound when birds collide?
Thanks for the video! Can the nest be protected somehow? I mean do you have to kill the mice on it before attacking it, or not? Another question I have is, when you make a swoop attack on a mission, is it automatically cancelled or only if you defeat the mice assigned to it?
Hey Alex, you protect the nest by making sure the enemy doesn't attack it :) Your second question is a little trickier, it might be easier if you took a look in the rules on Page 11, under Swoop Attacks. It will give you a couple paragraphs to cover the topic, if the video didn't answer the question for you.
I watched the whole video, twice, and I still don't know how to play. This game looks good and interesting, but the rulles seems complicated to me. Can you make a play through video, please? Also, I never played this game before, and English is foreign language to me. Thanks.
Thanks for the interest - I avoid pre-announcing games I might do a play through of, in case my schedule changes, but I can say that I have no plans for a play through in this case.
Hi, I'm Victor Nikolai, I'm from Brazil, my wife and I have a channel on youtoub where we talk about boardgames and we are also organizers of an event that happens in our town that is a table tennis players meeting. Game Tail Feathers, from the publisher that sponsors us here in Brazil and we will be the first channel to make a gameplay video of the game here in Brazil, I already filmed the part that I appear, but I could not make good images where I can show more closely The thumbnails, you allow me to use part of your video to show these part where I will speak of the thumbnails and I will edit to appear the image that you show the thumbnails. Can I use part of your video? And another thing, your video is very good.
Hi there Canal, thank you for the kind words. I'm not exactly sure what you're asking for. Do you want to use images from my video in a video you are creating? I'm not sure what you mean by 'thumbnails'.
This, I want to use the images that you did, showing the details of the game's miniatures, sorry I do not know much English. But did you understand what I want?
If you want to use some pictures from my video, or very short video clips, that is okay, but please put a note in the description of the video that the pictures came from Watch it Played.
Hello, it took you a long time to answer, so I finished my edition without your images, but we will still make a gameplay video of the game and I will put some small clips of your video and of course I will put in the description of the video your channel as a reference, I do not like to use Nothing that is not mine without asking before. See the video on our channel was the last one we posted. But thank you very much for your attention.
Rules seem a little bit too complex for a game that seems targeted to families playing with children. It is a lot more complex than Xwing for instance, although it is doing a lot more with the ground units of course. A more valid comparison would be D&D Attack Wing, but I have not played that.
The rules system allows you to pull out several of the rules for your first games if you want a fewer things to manage. For the rules video we included everything.

This looks amazing. And it would be a blast to paint the figurines to give the game some added visual appeal.

I know it's been a while but I just recently discovered and would love to see a play through! Love the ones you've done

Ultra thanks for the vídeo man!
Just one question. How works the "buy pile" of the action cards?
Sorry, I shot this awhile ago, so I'm not sure what part of the video you are asking about.
28:30 "Action Cards"

fantastic video Rodney!

The Death Spiral replaces that.
My wife and I had a wonderful game on Friday night and thus let us hit the ground scurrying.
Very glad to hear it (even though I'm 5 years late!)

Not quite what you were looking for then!
