  • Today we're exploring the history of Beeston Castle. A picturesque place found on a hill above the Cheshire Plain. However, humans have been active in this area far longer than the castle we see before us. Meaning this site is sitting atop thousands upon thousands of years of history ripe for exploration!

Another cracking video lads, don’t care what anyone says content here is informative but also gives a few chuckles mixed in for good measure.

This is mad bro haha, I’ve followed your gaming channel for a long while and finally stumbled over here. I passed this on New Year’s Day driving back from Wem to Leeds, I saw it off the road in the distance and exclaimed “oh a castle” the saw signs for it on the road named Beeston Castle shortly after
Made me laugh as there’s an area in Leeds called Beeston but it’s definitely not got a castle, a few crackheads for sure though hahaha.
Great stuff man gonna binge the channel just saw the title of this video and had to comment.

Beeston Castle is a favourite place of mine. The views are amazing all around you. I always wondered how it would stand up in defence knowing how steep that hill is.

The Bronze age is characterised by the rise in popularity of bronze as an alloy.

I visited there in 1978, and that new bridge was a bit newer then, LOL, but it still looks quite sturdy as if it hasn't aged 45 years. Still have photos of cows on the plain below. No charge to visit back then, just a long hike.

Such a fine day visiting Beeston Castle with you & your mates, Fizhy. In thanks I'll buy a round & lunch at Foresters in Bunbury. I could be a bit late as I'm coming from Hamilton (ON., Canada) so set up a round or 2 & I'll be as quick as I can. 😝 P.S. - an amber ale for me if you please.
Oh, and Tollemache, or Talmash, is pronounced TOL-mash. John Tollemache is likely a close relative of Algernon Tollemache (1805-1892), British politician, & Bentley Lyonel John Tollemache, 3rd Baron Tollemache (1883-1955), British Army officer, and writer on croquet and bridge.

This castle is my ancestors. It is where my Wych side of my family Tree he married Mary Beeston. Looking at her brother is really interesting he took part in Spanish Amanda aged 89 and unusually for the age he died at 100 some where between 1604-1606.

Love the fact you gave a lot of the background from before Beeston castle.
Also wondering whether you have any recommendations for where I could learn more about the Iron age in Britton (preferably from a book).
    Thanks.

We're no experts on the subject of good books regarding the iron age ourselves, but Amazon is stacked with books on the subject of ancient Britain if that's a good starter point.

There is no hard rule on which to use. If you really don't like it to the point where you have to express your disgust for the most minor detail in the comments to at least 3 different videos, please just do yourself a favour and jog on.
