I've had an Epiphone V, and a 1980s repainted Gibson V, and to be honest, even after spending time and money on customizations and different setups, they just weren't for me. They easily sold on Reverb, so that was cool. But a deep respect for them, and I still kind of gravitate to them on looks alone. I may even pick one up again if the price is right.
I think Vs look cool and I'm glad people are enjoying them. Personally, I like looking at Vs, but I hate playing them. After picking up a strandberg boden I don't feel like I want to play other body shapes anymore.
I have a schecter v1 evil twin which I enjoy playing. I'm a big guy too and I use a strap even when I sit and it actually helps to be more comfortable. I also have a Kramer niteV and enjoy that one too.
Def do some lick lessons out of that improv you were doing...or like how you interpret the neck....I find I can learn something from every player I hear....everyone has a unique perspective
I always wanted a V but never got one. It's great for the stage but not for the at home/studio use. I was almost tempted to get the Hendrix "Love Drops" Epiphone V, but I got an acoustic instead. I too am a gainer but it seems like the V would be "belly friendly" !!!
@@BrysonTaylorMusic If I do decide to get the Epiphone Love Drops, I'd have to change the truss rod cover to a Gibson !!! Strictly for my satisfaction, not that I would try to sell it as a Gibson, the serial numbers tell all! Thanks
You are holding the exact model in color v that I'm looking to get. I have a matching explorer from 93. That v is the last guitar that I'm going to buy and my collection will be done.
Great video. When I was younger, I wanted a Flying V. I was a big fan of Albert King and Jimi Hendrix. To me it had great upper fret access and tone. I'm nearing 70 and I haver never been in a guitar store with a flying V for sale. Now days I'm not looking to buy one, but I never had the opportunity to buy one. At the price that they sale for they are a guitar that you should play before buying.
Liked the video and your guitar! I went a long time not being interested in a V until I saw Jim Weber of the New Bomb Turks playing one (his is actually one of the Ibanez lawsuit V's) and it just looked so cool. I'll likely wind up with an Epiphone V as I cannot justify Gibson money to myself at my skill level. A V is for sure on my list of got to haves though, along with a Mosrite copy (likely an Eastwood) and a Peavey T-60. Thanks again for the video!
Love my Flying V

@@dogmosatchmo I agree! They look awesome, just not practical for everyone and everyone’s particular circumstances.
i love my 80' Fernandez copy of V they are cool and i learned classical position of playing while sitting
@@TheAndostro very cool, definitely makes you adjust your body to the guitar instead of the other way around lol!
Yes, been playing them for years. Switch between EMG explorer and 500t Flying V on stage . Metal rules...

I have had multiple Flying V's and my favorite one was a Jackson Rhoads RRX24. Also the long hair looked good.

I like the V but the ESP Arrow would probably be my first choice.

Yes I have one you need Epiphone not Gibson
Epiphones fret alignment is honestly shit.
I‘d look elsewhere. No Gibson though. Don’t spend your savings on a single guitar.
