I remember not being stoked on this episode much upon first watching but once I learned what it was about I fell in love with it.
Same with the gang tries desperately to win an award. Love when the gang talks directly to the audience through the show
The title is a reference to a Beckett play called Waiting for Godot. In the play two men wait for Godot (Big Mo) but he never comes. The play deals with existentialism and Sunny plays with these ideas and the gang nearly changes before subverting them by having Big Mo show up and everything stays the same.
I know it's based on the play but I always thought that "Waiting for big Mo" could also be read as "waiting for our big moment. "
The gang repeatedly taking shots at the academy awards is always a blast! And it's also a bit of the fear of getting old, forgotten and unpraised with far younger though not as talented or free spoken competition. Oh and also this brings me back to 5x3 when they tried printing paddy's dollar but failed when they in this episode make a whole story of it working
I still remember watching this live on TV, and back then it was NOT a foregone conclusion Sunny would go for another season and I actually got super concerned this WAS an unexpected series finale about 75% of the way through watching it
Yes, Dennis has complimented Dee before. In “The Gang Goes to the Jersey Shore,” he said he thought Dee looked like Bo Derek with her corn row hairdo. It was one of the very few times when Dennis and Dee were aligned for the whole episode.
I was getting worried when watching it episode. What a great ending for the fans!

I always thought this episode was gonna be the series finale when i watched it, felt like the cast telling us it was time to move on
But then, “we’re not going ANYWHERE!”
Thin-Elbowed Little Goblin may be Dennis' best insult.
Also missed an opportunity to have Big Mo be Big Mo from Mac Day.
The whole episode is an analogy to them making the show. They have been doing it a long time and they have thought about quitting and doing something else.

When I first watched always Sunny it was on hulu. I didnt look anything up. At the time this was the last season on there and I was legit concerned it was the final episode lol

you didnt understand the finale. rewatch knowing that they didnt know if they were coming back for another season or not. all the actors were doing separate projects, big mo = big movies, doing the same thing over and over talking about how many seasons theyve done, frank just along for the ride, etc
And the end they tricked everyone and said fuck that of course were doing more seasons were never going away
Seasons 2 & 5 should be a bit higher up for comedy reasons. Did not care too much for s13's finale.
I think you missed the entire point of the episode.. no way it should be ranked last on your finale list tbh
I'm gonna be honest, I didn't get the episode first viewing either. Then felt dumb once I did get it
Regardless, even after getting it, doesn't change the fact that other finales are still more enjoyable
The worst season finale is the Ass kickers episode in my opinion.

it's still kinda funny, but the series is not as clever anymore
Nor as blunt and as crazy. We had moments with the types of Dee doing YT with very sterotypical depictions of various groups, Charlie being the GM and stalking the waitress, Mac being a God-driven homophobe who doesn't understand what the bible says, Frank being a sleazy, more and more turning into depravitated animal who calls almost every chick a W*ore and then finally Dennis sinking ever so deeper from a normal "I don't care about other people that much" person to a full blown psychopath. Hard to go on from there to be honest but it's starting to show it's aging
This was definitely the worst season finale. Not a terrible episode but as a finale it was lackluster.
Nah, the mac pride episode was terrible. Off the top of my head, it might be the worst episode in the series. Just a bunch of woke circle jerking
You're usually quicker on the uptake toward the meaning of an episode. Surprisingly, you're REALLY slow on this one.
