The only time I've been a part of an auction it was a facsimile auction for school, and I voluntarily heightened prices for the competition whenever I thought someone would bite lol.

For people who need context, Ludwig started his (30 minute) stream by listing out other outrageous things he spent on charity auctions like 100K on a date night with another streamer or a signed Elden Ring poster hence what got him interested for this in the first place. So the amount spent isn't that outrageous in comparison to his overall net worth. Just playing it up like usual I'm guessing.
And sadly Joey isn't of importance other than being a (presumed) silent money man. Nobody's brought up any past exploits he's been in.

I'm surprised you didn't show the part where Joey ended up donating $1000 afterwards. I was always wondering if he was just trying to get Ludwig to pay more without actually wanting it, but he seemed like he genuinely had the money and wanted it, what a great guy. I hope Joey gets to go, we're all rooting for him :)
I like to think that Joey REALLY didn't have the money, but had balls of steel to raise the price up as high as possible for the sake of the aquarium
Ludwig was actually not smart, if he waited more time after Joey bidded, he would have spared several thousand dollars. Which would have been bad
When it's not an auction that increases time per bid as some online auctions do. A bid war an hour early is way to much (though it is charity so who cares)
Then the risk is when you go to snipe they snipe higher but the risk is usually way less than a 30m bid war
Ludwig is too addicted to the rush of gambling as hes said before. I can only imagine the rush of upping the bids are much the same for him.

On the Monterey Bay aquarium website, a behind the scenes tour is $29 + admission, but maybe they don't get to see the amazing kitchen
The absolute best part about this is a behind the scenes tour at Monterey Bay Aquarium is 95$(roughly) per person. So a 2 person behind the scenes tour is 190$, that’s a 19,310$ difference
