nah views dont equate to sales. maybe like less than 1% would have the purchasing power + not crazy delivery fees + willing to buy. i wish i could buy a mug mug
I think it’s also the type of merch helped the sale, mugs can actually used as a daily item while plushies just sit there, so using the figure of plushies to estimate the mug sale is just not going to align. Also those two mug ads are truly amazing, would buy if the shipping fee is not so astronomically high.

imagine the two random polish guys somehow looking doug up and finding the photo of him drinking olive oil, in a thanos one pice swimsuit, with an italian flag animation green screened behind him.
Sooo, this is coming from an accounting student that has studied some marketing AND psychology. At 13:00-14:00, it's basically a case of "it was a highly demanded product and people bought it extremely quickly". However, which is what I believe to be the part that Doug doesn't know, and thus he gets confused, is that most people do not expect something they see in a video to be sold out within a day or two. Most people go "ah sweet! A new merch item! I'll see what my account is at by the end of the month and, if I can afford it, I'll buy it!", because it's a new item and they don't expect it to sell out instantly. Then, because it sold out within two days, most people that actually wanted to buy the mug, but wanted to wait a bit first, realize that it's going to sell out extremely quickly once it gets restocked. I believe he could've gone up to 5000 mugs and it would've still sold out within a day, because the majority of people do not expect a "random" item to be sold as quickly and will thus wait a bit before buying it, especially on UA-cam, where most people only expect limited YouTooz items to sell out within a day. Anyways, this is just a big UA-cam frog fan with a DougDougMugMug (first batch) sharing their thoughts on the reason why it sold out way quicker the second time around!
i think the reason is that people that were on the edge of getting their mug didn’t know if they should get it. So when it was available again they decided they didn’t want to be left out and bought it!
Bought one and love it. It’s ridiculous. Idk why he doesn’t do more merch. It’s a great way to support, while getting something tangible out of it. And he’d make BANK
Honestly, I first watched doug right after the first mugmug drop, was very amused by his content, and wanted a mugmug because for that price and quality, its really a great merch item compared to many others I’ve seen. Hence I woke up at 4am to purchase it right as it was released.
The 1st advertisement was so blunt and funny to me I made the purchase really quick (the shop layout made it even better). Even though I had to pay a total of $53 with shipping and toll/customs to get it to germany, i really enjoy having my dougdoug MugMug as it fits me very well. Its the first mug I ever purchased and as its indestructible, its gonna be my last I also didn't know that they were so limited or be sold out so fast. Apparently I randomly bought it in the right time without knowing that its not gonna be available some hours after lul
Part of the reason the mugs sold well the second time is there were probably people who kind of wanted the mug the first time around, but decided to save their money. And once they were gone in two days, they realized it would be neat to have such a coveted item. So the second time they popped up for sale, they didn't hesitate.
I feel like the reason they sold out so quickly the second time is because for the first 2500 it took two days for people to realize it was a thing they could buy and after that more and more people learned it existed and felt left out that they missed it. There was also the people who saw it in time but waited too long before deciding they wanted it, so during the second batch you had all these existing customers who already decided they wanted one and knew it would sell out fast, so they bought it in the first two hours. When you do a third batch you’ll probably experience something similar, but there’s no way of knowing how many people are waiting to buy one still without some kind of poll.
Tbh I'd buy it, I don't even watch on twitch. The first couple times I genuinely thought the mug was a joke but I really want that one. It's goofy and perfect

Hey Doug, real recommendation here, seeing how the market for the Mugs has grown from your first to second offerings, you should probably consider multiplying your overall mug production. I wouldn’t go as far as saying 30,000, as that may be overkill. But for your case somewhere between 3000 and 30,000 may serve your sales purposes well
Doug, i have seen the mugmug a friend of mine got. I really want a mugmug now. The amount of mugs sold might increase the potential amount of mugs sold in the future by amazement word of mouth
