From 1878 until 1893 Coin Press Number 1 only produced CC Morgan dollars, but it didn't produce EVERY CC Morgan, as there were two other presses as well. When the Carson City mint closed in 1893, No. 1 was sent to Philly, where it was used for a half century, before having a stint in San Francisco, and eventually in Denver, before a hard earned retirement back in the Carson City Mint, turned Nevada State Museum.
Northern Nevada Coin is across the street from the CC mint/museum. Allen Rowe is a PNG member. Great place for Carson City coins. I use to live in the area and the mint has one of almost every CC issue behind an iron gate! A nice tour and well worth the time to see the Nevada State Museum.
We are tempted to pop in to the Tucson show from the SF Bay Area. We visited Tucson last year and loved the city and surrounds. A coin show with Ben would be the cherry on top
For some reason, whenever I think of the Carson City mint, I think about that minting scandal called "Crime of 1873" even though it wasn't particularly exclusive to CC. I think it's because that mint came on line around 1870. That would be an interesting video to do regarding mint history. Before 1873, silver miners could take their finds to the mint to be pressed then they changed it without really telling anyone. It was wild.
Hey Ben, thanks for the vlog! Carson city sounds like a great place to learn about some of the history of coins. May need to make the trek next year. For Arizona in the summer time, no leather, use oven mitts. :)
Hey Ben - thanks for the update - one can only imagine whst it was like working in the CC mint and being part of the minting process. Maybe you and my wife should have a parking contest in your parking lot. LOL - I am sure you enjoyed the history of the area. Best wishes
Thanks Ben. I haven’t heard you mention the replica mine in the basement of the museum. I toured actual mines in Virginia City and found the replica mine to be just as realistic.
Great to meet you. Next year, when near the airport, take a short, 10 minute drive to see Levere Redfield’s stone mansion. Where he famously hid his incredible hoard, the Redfield Hoard. Mt Rose St at Forest Ave.
Tahoe , R , CC and VC are unique . We had our honeymoon at Harvey's in 1996 , lakeview on the 20th floor . At VC i bought the state quarters cardboard map and a box full of 30 Kentucky mint julep glasses from the 50s , 60s and 70s for fifty cents each
Leather or No Leather, that is the question. We have the same issues here around Dallas. Burn your behind off , sticky-sticky legs, or screech in the winter when all you have is Central Texas clothing. Still I choose Leather. The Fonz would too 😁
I don't know how I missed the fact that there was a coin show in Carson City which is just over the hill from me. I hope they have another one next year.
If gold was $1500 an ounce that would be a fair bit less than the average cost to mine and refine it. As for gold I'm still buying so it's not all sellers 😄
I was buying heavy at 20 thinking it was low and needed to catch up to inflation. Now that it went up I'm confused with you and I don't know. Only thing we can know for sure is it will go up and it will go down.

Be my guest!
Thanks for sharing your CC experiences Ben.
My pleasure!

Absolutely
Sounds like fun! Hope to make it to Carson City one day.

Yes / the replica mine is really well done .
I have to visit the CC mint before I die.

We’ll try to keep you posted
You run into the Cartwrights there by chance Ben?
I live in Reno wish I could’ve made it, but I’ll see you next year
Yes!
Are hard pack Morgans worth more than the same coin and grade in a soft pack?
Hi Ben
👍
🏆
Old Pueblo Coin doesn’t have the parking space for a show
😆 the show is at the casino del sol- lots of parking
The gangs almost all here but, where's Donald 👀
Every coin collector should have at least one CC coin, right?
If gold was $1500 an ounce that would be a fair bit less than the average cost to mine and refine it. As for gold I'm still buying so it's not all sellers 😄
I save little by little to buy from you when you come to central states. So you can make a couple of bucks.
No chance! 😂
BEEP BEEP *>>-->* 🦉(not a roadrunner!)
Are gold and silver in a bubble or are they where they should be with inflation?
Good question
