Im in the market for a battery or a couple of them for an 8k. Thinking about just building one. I want to see real world results. Have these batteries hooked up in a car playing heavy bass decaf more precisely with an alternator charging them. That will determine who the winner is. Real world results. Does battery A charge faster than B? Does battery A hold cutrent better? Or B? For the amount that both are i can build one way bigger
Cool test. Great idea. I think for us bassheads tho this test doesnt say much. In a car supported by an alt and supplying a 5k or 8k would give us real world comparison of what to expect for voltage drop. We appreciate your efforts tho hifi
Well keep in mind ALL car batteries max output is rated at 7.2 to 8v. I did not even test that low. But this is useful because you can see what output the battery can provide Standalone. If you look at other car audio manufacturers they rate max output at 7.2v because this has been the automotive industry standard for decades. But I only go to 10v which is way higher voltage than what others rate max output at. But obviously I think testing at 7.2 volts would be silly for car audio. But the 10v test is relevant and even higher than the 7.2v that manufacturers use. So this gives you an idea of a more usable amperage output. And when added to your system with an alternator that will even keep the voltage higher.
Well it's not to fair the jp is only like 5 or 6 ah. Bj is 22ah now he should compare it to the jp 40 it's only 100 buck more than the big jeff battery.
Umm not when space is a big factory.. the 6.0 will fit behind my rear seats in my pickup.. just barley clears in angle of the seat backs and that’s because it’s so short and narrow.. And let be real here.. 22ah at that size? I could do a same size agm battery and pull 45-65 in same size factor. Not apples to apples.. That lto will also drop into the empty space under the carpet at the rear fenders if many cars.. the big Jeff will not.. Infact I can fit two 6.0 in my daughter car this way one one each side just using otherwise useless wasted space.. a lot to be said for the size and making it more useful
The difference is the amp hours. One battery is 22 ah vs 6 ah. You could have the same cells but the 22 ah vs the 6 ah will allow more current being drawn before voltage drop.
I'd be interested in a comparison between the Big Jeff battery and a Glowe Voltage battery. Both about the same price (Glowe is $50 more) but Glowe series 2 claims to support literally 2x the power (Glowe 2 claims to support 12k watts vs Big Jeff claims to support just 6k watts).
What is each amp hour rating of these the big Jeff says 22 on it but the d4s has me confused is it 6ah like the name? This would explain the huge reserve difference at high load.
He did a torture test with the 148ah version. It can hold over 800 amps continuously at 12.3 to 12.5 volts. So the 74ah version should hold that voltage with a 400 amp draw.
Great video as always man and I appreciate your hard work but to be honest what can we do with 10 volts in the car audio business I'm looking at blowing a hamper or something if I'm dropping that low so I don't really understand how that kind of information can help me any but thank you very much for what you do
I did mention it in the video a couple times but the reason is because all batteries max amp output which is ca or cca is actually rated at 7.2V this is because this has been the industry standard for decades. So when you see any car audio battery like XS agm or others even they rate the max output is at around 8v. No one rates batteries at 12V. I just do the 12v test to provide 2 different tests. So even at 10v , that is higher than what companies rate their batteries at. When installed with an alternator because the alternator is charging is will raise that voltage up. But standalone the batteries are rated at about 8v.
Mr. Hifi I saw a comment about comparing these to headway builds if you do will you please include one with the lev60f from jag35. They're in the same price range as the d4s and big Jeff
No most lithium can’t be run under the hood unless they are specifically made to replace your under the hood battery. To be able to be safe with the heat of the engine compartment.
Question: Can you run two of those with one in the front taking the place of the traditional lead battery and one in the back. Direct connection one to the other without any problems?
Maybe I am wrong but I don’t believe these are built to handle the engine compartment heat. Most lithium’s are not unless they are made to be a starting battery replacement.
Hey man what kind of a charger did you use on these? If I purchased one of these, what kind of charger do I need to buy to charge it before I can use it. Thank you man.
Cool video, you think a xs power 4900(100ah) AGM with a mechman 370 and either 1 of these lithium batteries will keep my voltage pretty steady with a salt 3
@HiFiVector awesome‼️ Yeah I was looking at the xs titan 8 pwr s5 lithium as well maybe to go with but the big jeff is little cheaper as well as 22ah over the titan 8 being like 10ah
In this scenario what happens if you have less alt power? Say closer to 200amp. Do you just add more batteries? Salt 3 can pull over 350amps at full tilt.
The resting voltage of the lead acid battery is lower than the lithium battery. One battery drains the other when the car is off. You can remove the lead or isolate the lithium. You can directly connect them but if your car sets long enough the alternator is going to go crazy trying to charge the low charge lithium battery. Also if your going to put an isolator in factor in the ohms of resistance of the isolator into your all around loss to get proper power to amps.
@@HiFiVector e class mercedes 2.2d saloon My concern is if I hook 6x45ah yinglong Lithium cells Can I simply remove AGM battery and leave the cells only for the car and system?. cells has BMS Thank you sir for taking your time to answer my questions🙏🤜
It’s best to use a battery isolator like this. amzn.to/4dpgXxY Easy to hook up and you can leave your main car battery connected with the lithiums. But your alternator isn’t that big so that’s what will be limiting you.

But I tested it down for sound and XS power titan 8 s5 And this battery is as good as the xs power lithium and better than the D4s so for the price and buy it and go it’s a winner.
@HiFiVector of course you will always have those that perfer not to. I had zero clue on what I was doing and managed to get a 32ah then 64 now up to 92ah bank put together.. The thought is scarier than doing it lol

You can add these to your system as a 2nd battery yes. And they will charge by your alternator just like any other battery. It’s a good idea to use a battery isolator for the lithium when using with a standard battery so when the car is off the regular battery doesn’t drain the lithium down.
