I won't lie, I cried a little. Against the odds, battling adversity to come out has a winner always makes me emotional for these athletes that realise their dreams. This is weightlifting at its best.
This is the feeling the emotion that weightlifting gives to the masses I just wish they would’ve included the part where Kuo celebrates as Alvarez makes her 3rd lift I love the competition the sport don’t take this away from us Olympic committee
It's always interesting to see how the Asian athletes have noticeably different limb proportions. Their legs are so short in comparison to their torsos.
Super short femurs makes getting around their knee into a bottom position very comfortable. Not sure where this came from might have been the low growing crops in their region that they had to farm and thus those with short femurs were ideal/ more successful.

Totally agree! These supposed "genius pundits" have NO understanding of actual competitive weightlifting, nor made any true mention of the fact that Kuo was clearly NOT 100% and has a history of knee issues going back decades (she even made trips to the USA before Anaheim Worlds), so even an "average" total for Kuo (103-105 / 135-138) would have easily won GOLD here! Credit to Alvarez for her excellent performance but let us put things in perspective : Kuo has been doing this for DECADES and is now 30 years old (with all the accompanying strain on her body) while this young lady is literally lifting at "home" in front of a friendly crowd which gives her energy, etc...let's see how she (or anybody) does over decades of comps, traveling to foreign countries etc...and THEN we can discuss!

i was thinking the same but in the opposite way. Maybe I'm used to seeing longer torsos so it's more noticeable to me when I see a small torso.
