Ātmān does not reside in the body, nor does Ātmān ever leave the body (Chapter 2, Verse 22) So, do not think that there is something called the ‘Soul’ residing in your body that gets out at the time of death and enters some other body. Nothing like that ever happens. That’s a total misinterpretation of Vedanta and Bhagavad Gita, and a lot of damage has occurred because people have been very mistakenly interpreting verses like 2.22 of Bhagavad Gita. They have been interpreting it out of context. They have been interpreting it without using the broader light of the Bhagavad Gita itself and Vedanta in general. Anything that is said in the Bhagavad Gita will obviously concur with and resonate with Vedantic literature in general. The Gita is a de facto Upanishad. Some even say that the Gita is the essence of all Upanishads. If Gita is a de facto Upanishad, is Gita going to be saying something that goes against the essence of Upanishads? So, this verse has to be read along with the other important verses and the Mahāvākyas of the Vedantic literature. And when you read them all together, when you read them all in a holistic way, then you clearly see that there is nothing called a ‘Soul’ as far as Vedanta is concerned. There is the Ātmān and there is Prakriti, and the ‘I’-sense is one of the elements of Prakriti. What are their respective qualities? Pay attention. The Ātmān has no qualities, it is nirguna, which means that the Ātmān is never-ever born-so how can it be reborn? That’s one basic principle of Vedanta. The Ātmān is ajaat, ajanma and amar-never born, never died, doesn’t take birth, never dies. And somehow most people forget this basic axiom. They start saying, “Oh, the Ātmān has taken rebirth!” But the Ātmān never takes even one birth. How can it take a rebirth? Ātmān doesn’t take the first birth, Ātmān is never born, so how can it be reborn? So, keep Ātmān out of all this. When birth, rebirth and death are being discussed, Ātmān is not in question. In these equations, Ātmān has to be kept totally aside. Then, what is it that takes rebirth? You will never forget this. It is the Prakriti that keeps waving like an ocean. I personally know of people in family in my cousin and my friends who remembered their past life for a longer period in their childhood and would ask their parents to take them to their old home and parents. One of my cousin who had supposedly died young in a car accident in past life would never stop speaking about it until she was 9 or 10. Slowly the filters developed and she overcame it. My friends bother also would speak of his home and other parents quite a lot. I don't remember my past life but I remember only 1 dream from my very early childhood around 5 or 6 or so around that age and it's still in memory strangely seeing a lady who came from the backdoor of our home and talked to me all night Her head was covered and she wore a simple salwar kameez. Not sure who she was. I also used to have some strange and unknown scenes repititively in front of my eyes and had a kind of deja vu on smell of the fragrance of the incense that is burned in kolkata during durga puja.. I personally know of people in family in my cousin and my friends who remembered their past life for a longer period in their childhood and would ask their parents to take them to their old home and parents. One of my cousin who had supposedly died young in a car accident in past life would never stop speaking about it until she was 9 or 10. Slowly the filters developed and she overcame it.

Ātmān does not reside in the body, nor does Ātmān ever leave the body (Chapter 2, Verse 22)
So, do not think that there is something called the ‘Soul’ residing in your body that gets out at the time of death and enters some other body. Nothing like that ever happens. That’s a total misinterpretation of Vedanta and Bhagavad Gita, and a lot of damage has occurred because people have been very mistakenly interpreting verses like 2.22 of Bhagavad Gita. They have been interpreting it out of context. They have been interpreting it without using the broader light of the Bhagavad Gita itself and Vedanta in general. Anything that is said in the Bhagavad Gita will obviously concur with and resonate with Vedantic literature in general.
The Gita is a de facto Upanishad. Some even say that the Gita is the essence of all Upanishads. If Gita is a de facto Upanishad, is Gita going to be saying something that goes against the essence of Upanishads? So, this verse has to be read along with the other important verses and the Mahāvākyas of the Vedantic literature. And when you read them all together, when you read them all in a holistic way, then you clearly see that there is nothing called a ‘Soul’ as far as Vedanta is concerned.
There is the Ātmān and there is Prakriti, and the ‘I’-sense is one of the elements of Prakriti. What are their respective qualities? Pay attention. The Ātmān has no qualities, it is nirguna, which means that the Ātmān is never-ever born-so how can it be reborn? That’s one basic principle of Vedanta.
The Ātmān is ajaat, ajanma and amar-never born, never died, doesn’t take birth, never dies. And somehow most people forget this basic axiom. They start saying, “Oh, the Ātmān has taken rebirth!” But the Ātmān never takes even one birth. How can it take a rebirth? Ātmān doesn’t take the first birth, Ātmān is never born, so how can it be reborn?
So, keep Ātmān out of all this. When birth, rebirth and death are being discussed, Ātmān is not in question. In these equations, Ātmān has to be kept totally aside.
Then, what is it that takes rebirth? You will never forget this. It is the Prakriti that keeps waving like an ocean. The Prakriti is an ocean that waves. And every wave when it is rising is a ‘birth’, and every wave when it is ebbing, dying is a ‘death’.

पुनर्जन्म क्या है ... आइए जानते हैं ।
1) यदि आपने इंसान का जन्म ले लिया तो फिर आप कभी भी किसी और योनि में जन्म नही लेते क्योंकि इंसान का जन्म कई योनियों में जन्म लेने के बाद ही मिलता है ,,,, ठीक वैसे जैसे यदि आप 10th क्लास पास हो गए तो फिर से आप 11th मे जाओगे वापस 9th में नहीं । मनुष्य योनि से आगे भी बहुत कुछ है । लेकिन उसमें आप तब तक नहीं जाओगे जब तक यहाँ का पड़ाव पार नहीं होगा । जैसे आप फेल होकर 10th क्लास से 10th में ही रहोगे । मतलब इंसान की योनि में बार बार यही जन्म होगा ।
जब आत्मा का निर्माण होता है , तब से लेकर मनुष्य योनि तक हम जीव जंतु , जानवर, पक्षी, से होकर मनुष्य तक पहुचते हैं । मनुष्य से आगे भी कई आयाम हैं ।
2) अब जब हम मनुष्य बन गए मतलब मनुष्य का दिमाग एक सूचना रिसीव करने का डिवाइस की तरह काम करता है , और सारी जानकारी ब्रम्हांड में सेव होती है ,जैसे कंप्यूटर सारी जानकारी क्लाउड , नेट पर सेव करता है ।
कंप्यूटर में सेव यह जानकारी हर वो आदमी एक्सेस कर सकता है , जिसको कंप्यूटर चलाना अच्छे से आता है , वह एक विधि है ।
ठीक उसी तरह हर आदमी अपना पुनर्जन्म देख सकता है ।
