Amen to that... Murder is bad enough, but the extended time period those poor terrified young people had to spend, probably _knowing_ what was coming. And when the violent crime of the offender has a sexual component, 'rehabilitation' is almost impossible. It's not worth the risk to the public.

In Australia we have a few serial killers like Mr McDuff they will never be released, one has been in prison 55 years, he raped and murdered some young girls when he was 21.

The Parole Board accepts no responsibility at all for their decisions. It would be a different story though if the victims were their family members.
I live in Texas and I remember McDuff. I don't remember this crime. But I believe he got out and went on to commit more crimes
I don't know about other states but Texas stop doing that last meal before execution. They don't do that anymore.

There should be a law so that the members of a parole board can be held accountable for the release of a clear monster?. Those parole members clearly have a lot of blood on their hands due to their incompetence!

The idea that people are imprisoned solely for drug charges is a myth. Most people are allowed to plead down to lesser charges, as this saves the state the time and money required to try and convict someone of a more serious crime. Someone “rotting in jail” for drug charges is more likely there because he committed far more serious crimes but pled down to “intent to sell.”
This is also how you end up with sex offenders with no record of convictions except things like “battery.” The rap sheet is the top of the iceberg. If someone says he or she has a record, assume until proven otherwise that that person is not telling you the full story.
It bothers me how the rape portion is always kind of a minor detail when describing these people's murders.

People come for the murder and it's to uncomfortable listening to should tell you everything about that type of crime in documentarys like this
Many times it’s out of respect. Their loved ones often don’t want to remember them, or have them be remembered, for the horror of their final hours. Understandably, I think they feel like that’s not the sort of thing people need to know.

Technically he wasn't a serial killer because there was no time in-between the killings. He killed them all on the same night. A serial killer is two or more bodies with a period of time in-between.
Sncedayone, the 1966 murder was triple murder. The murder cases he committed after his release from parole are considered serial murder cases.

With that, I went from playing Bass about 4 times in church to now being a full time Bass player. I wanted to join because I have only played at church and basically self taught. I have only recently started to learn some favorite rock and blues songs by using tabs. But I want to learn more theory and skills as I want to be as good on the Bass as I was on the drums as this is an instrument that I can still play and not be so hard on my body.
Any pointers and help is appreciated !

I hope he and his mother, who raised and defended the monster she called her son, are both rotting in h*ll. It's disgusting to me that he ever was paroled in the first place. Those who released this monster back into society should have been held accountable for their actions 😢
McDuff came from a very privileged background and was indulged by both parents. His mother whipped out a pistol at a school bus driver because he had kicked one of the McDuff brothers off the bus. We see that time and time again with these real psychos. A real bad seed with enabling parents--never accountable.

Not only did he survive the death penalty in the first place, but also the second place and the third place. And then he was allowed by some ignorant idiots to be released from prison a free man! OMG. I didn't realize Texas had such stupid people on the Board of Pardons.
The prosecutors who decided not to try him on all 3 original murders bear some of the responsibility. He could’ve ended up with 3 life sentences which may have made him ineligible for parole no matter the overcrowding and costs. Additionally, those families would’ve gotten the justice and the so-called closure they also so badly needed and deserved.
I am surprised that he was not charged with the two outstanding murders and locked up as soon as he was paroled.

IDK your ages of the comments here - but there was a time in this country that "death sentence" literally meant you'd be put to death. The changes in law for the unfairly represented minorities and low income criminals got this guy rolled back to a life sentence instead of death. (He should have been looked at more closely for that, but you can't discriminate - the law must be applied equally) But again, that was a time in this country that a LIFE sentence meant "in prison until you die" and he was then on a life sentence, with everyone believing he'd never be free again. Then laws were changed AGAIN to put an actual number on a life sentence (thank the liberals for all these laws) and this horrible man became eligible for parole. The fault lies in that parole board who failed to take note of WHY he had a death sentence in the first place. This is liberal and Democrat laws at work, fully exemplified in one really bad serial rapist, serial killer, born criminal, who has benefitted from every major legislation they've pushed.
So, killing three teenagers (rape & murder) is constitutional in the eyes of the law?? Than he gets paroled and received financial aid!! and they made a law in his name?? what kind of system is that? Those Paroled board members are responsible for every victim he had killed.

I mean, it might be better to ask why we have the highest incarceration rate in the world instead...there are a ton of problems with our justice system but I don't that the answer to our problems is building more prisons. All parole board decisions need to be made transparent to the public, when the convict is violent or a murderer. They are full of unqualified people and are rife with nepotism.
Imo, parole boards should have conscription like jury duty. When it's a random sampling of the public, they're a lot less likely to walk. The public doesn't care if you found Jesus just in time for your parole hearing for murder.
There are plenty o nonviolent criminals they can parole instead of the sick violent ones, yet the parole board members choose to release the violent ones back onto the rest of us. I guess it's just repeat business to them.

I read recentlythat the reason he told them where Colleen's body was at was because he had a bad toothache & they withheld pain meds from him until he told them where she was. Good for them.

I was seven years old when this happened. Although we live in oklahoma city metro area my aunt lived in grand prairie. My mom was close to that sister so we went often. There were eight of us kids when we were all together. I didn't know many details. We were told there was a bad man that hurt little boys. We weren't allowed to walk alone to the grocery store across the street from my aunt's house anymore.
I was shocked that police weren’t waiting outside the prison when McDuff was released. The police could have charged him for the other two murders since there is no statute of limitations on murder. Therefore, police could have been waiting to arrest him for those two murders and simply put him back in jail. That would have protected the public and prevented the other crimes he committed after his prison release. SMDH

Well, there is a lot that goes into a decision like that, especially back then. It saves the taxpayers a lot of money, saves the detectives a lot of time/effort, and saves the families a lot of heartache and stress.

@@onawarock5046 It's not really uncommon to not charge a criminal for multiple murders if they have a life sentence. Taking a suspect to trial is a huge ordeal that some families of victims would rather not go through.
It's easy to point the finger without understanding the whole situation. There was no way of knowing that politicians would get the death penalty blocked.
The decision to release Mcduff back into society unsupervised after what he did to those three teenagers, was the biggest mistake man has EVER made.
Pretty sure Lawrence Singleton was another easy release who had raped a number of women and the 15 yr old hitchhiker he picked up and raped, to her pleas to let her go, he said he would. Pulled out a hatchet and chopped her arms off at the elbow and threw her off a 30 ft cliff. She did live, and he did time and STILL got out again, leading to the death of a 14 yr old.
Don't forget the DA didn't prosecute 2 of the 3 murders in 1966... Presumably to save the county money. If he would of had 3 murder convictions and a rape conviction he might not have been paroled ..... We will never know.

During world war 1 British soldier Henry Tandey spared the life of an injured corporal of the German army. That corporal was named Adolf Hitler. I think that was a bigger mistake but the one made regarding McDuff was probably one of the stupidest.

All three Eric, his mother, and uncle al, were psychos. Absolutely nasty evil people. As for mcduff whoever let him out in the first place should have been put in prison as well for they assisted in helping him murder after he was released.

Thing that is crazy is there were 2 dates that his death sentence was delayed by the state...he should have been put to death long before he was released because of overcrowding. If they would carry out the sentence before 20 years passes maybe it would save alot of headache

My aunt was murdered by her boyfriend in 1970 in Texas and because his family was apart of the law, they covered it up as a suicide. There’s no reason he took a shower & washed his clothes after “finding she shot herself” justice isn’t always served, sadly…. RIP my beautiful aunt, Alice💕 I’m glad you’re reunited with my momma 🥹

I believe McDuff is the only person ever to get off death row, and then reoffend and get there again. This time, he was put to death.
The people that released this man on Parole knowing good and well what he had done prior should be held responsible. Anyone and everyone that was involved in this case knew he was going to kill again but the parole board released him because of overcrowding. I remember that the problems Texas was having with its prison system were on the national news quite a bit back in the early 1980s. It was shocking to hear about Texas releasing all those prisoners. More like something that would happen in modern California.
I haven't heard the McDuff story in decades but the first frightening thing that I am hearing after he is released that he is living in a DORMITORY at a colllege !

The law system worked so hard to prove to the jury courts of this evil kenievel ,but a parole board released a murderer back into society even a delinquent would know he would repeat his behaviour ,he had no respect for a woman or life ,an arrogant murderer.The parole board members whom voted freedom to this cruel human should be jailed for life families need to sue the system of parole board ,they were severely negligent .This my personal opinion.

Because the justice system sometimes sends innocent people to jail (and sometimes they are proven innocent through new forensic technology), I am not a completely uncritical fan of the death penalty, but WHY did this offender get parole? This makes no sense whatsoever!
I must say I cried no tears for Ted Bundy or Timothy McVeigh, sometimes we really DO know who the murderer is.

You can blame the United States Supreme Court which at the time had a majority of liberals who thought that the death penalty was cruel and unusual punishment and put a moratorium on deaths…the prisons became overfilled and many prisoners were released. The death penalty has since been reinstated….thank God. I just think they need to be100% positive that the person IS guilty so no one who is innocent would be put to death OR kept in jail for life. Thank God today we have DNA to help but you would probably be shocked to find out how many murders still go unsolved even in this day and age…..and there are thousands.
Everytime this nasty man went before the parole board-EVERYTIME- someone from the victim's family-the police departments -SOMEONE- should have gone, been there, to remind the parole board what this monster had done. The killer was convicted and sentenced to death but due to a Supreme Court decision that death penalty was unconstitutional he was not put to death and after 23 years in prison the Killer of three was paroled and the killer was now free and he started killing again and again. After nearly 30 years since the murder of three teenagers in Texas in 1966, and released after 23 years in prison and now it is 1993 when the killer was brought before the courts for killing Mellissa and then Coleen. Later Kenneth McDuff confessed to killing Joshua and another before he was executed.

Because he got the death sentence so they didn't bother going to court for the other two no reason apparently. Should have had all three done same time,other thing should have arrested him straight away after his parole for the other two murders.

This is an excellent question. It is stated that they did not pursue additional murder charges in the sixties because he had been sentenced to death already. Once he was paroled the option to prosecute him for the other two murders should have been an obvious alternative.
The parole board that set him free they should be all held responsible and send to prison themselves smh
The biggest mistake they made was only charging him for one murder of the boy back then, if the parole board saw a triple homicide, things might have been different.

Roy Green assaulted the young teen. He was there and didn't stop the shooting because it happened without Roy knowing his friend would shoot, but Roy still assaulted the teen even after McDuff had already shot the two young men. They are both culpable of the same crime...in my opinion.

He gets off as a murderer, but if he was subject to divorce laws , in divorce court, he could not. No appeals in divorce. No parole in divorce. What a system we have in the usa.
There is no statute of limitation for murder. When he was paroled he should have been charged at that moment and throw the oxygen thief back in prison awaiting trial.
