Fighting piracy only makes it worse. Plus with Nintendo's false copyright claims I do not care if people pirate their games. Since they love to steal from UA-camrs.
They already created a switch emulator, still in its alpha stage, however. Nintendo would be fighting an uphill battle, not sure if it's even worth fighting at this point. They took down the title key website for the Wii U games but the keys were shared on Reddit and users manually added them in the files instead.
Nintendo confuses me so much, battling piracy for games they don’t even market anymore, going against avid fans that would buy all the games if Nintendo rereleased them. But Nintendo doesn’t care about the older generation, I wonder how much money they would make if they used the Wii/gamecube emulator they already made for the gpu that’s already in the switch and just copy paste mario sunshine into the eshop
I also wondered if they don't want to support 3DS anymore which *BY THE WAY* is the only legal way to play Gameboy advance and DS on a legal console. They could theoretically sell ROMs of their games to be used on any emulator (say an android smartphone has emulators for all kinds of old consoles) but that would make piracy even more rampart!
Why doesn't Nintendo just sell Emulators for their older consoles on the eshop. Nintendo always had problems with games like Golden Eye and Diddy Kong.
I remember my grandma buying some random pirated cartridges, good days. I actually just got my 3ds xxl to work, the old cartridges don’t work anymore tho:(
whoa what an high quality video. I didn't know that this video had 2.7k views until I saw it. expecting this video to have atleast 20k+ views lol I like how you explains nintendo fear of piracy.
Final Fantasy on the PS1 was so extremely large mainly because of unnecessary prerendered cut-scenes. It's true that N64 games sometimes had repetitive textures because of file size constraints, but those weren't particularly obvious to the naked eye. The small N64 games indeed couldn't have much CD quality music or large amounts of recorded speech, but those things weren't available in many PS1 games either. Additionally, PS1 had technical problems on its own with its unfiltered and "warping" textures. So I doubt that the large file size of the PS1 discs were the reason why the PS1 was so successful. The lower price of the PS1 games were certainly part of the reason, but by no means the only reason, because the Sega Saturn also used cheap CDs while still being much less successful than the N64. Also, the GameCube 1.5 GB discs were obviously large enough for most games, since very few contained more than one disc, despite often including rather unnecessary FMV cut-scenes. GameCube games, unlike N64 games, also didn't struggle with repetitive textures. Back in the day PC games where often released on multiple CDs, which where actually smaller than the GameCube discs. Also, the Xbox used DVDs like the PS2, while being comparable to the GameCube in terms in sales. Again concerning file size: The Nintendo DS cartridges compared to the PSP UMDs pretty much like the N64 cartridges to the PS1 CDs. But the Nintendo DS was still more successful than the PSP, at least in terms of devices sold. You wouldn't expect that if you think that maximum game file size was an important factor for the success of a console. But enough with the nit-picking. Your video has good production quality, which makes it pleasant to watch. :)
avoid technical limitations. What matters for games way more - are design, time available for developers to create games, their instruments, freedom, tricks that they are available to use. Also knowledge, community, other participating gamedev companies, sharing, team collaboration, overall philosophy, world point of view. Nintendo as a publisher and developer is very high in value, it's on par and some more heavy weighted then Square Eninx, Bandai Namco, Level-5, etc. With It's value it's making all the difference. Other consoles are interesting for an extra variety of projects and special cases of top edge graphical quality. Also they might be more accessible, more spread or cheaper in price in special countries,, while still repeating some of the unique Nintendo titles at the cost of gameplay And in terms of (!)games quality Nintendo consoles are always best in it's generation.
June 2018. Switch isn't easy to pirate? You can literally install two folders and install every single switch title from someones google drive within 10 seconds.
I still can't believe that it hasn't hit Nintendo how to stop the piracy of their games. Just put them on Steam or Nintendo Switch Online. It's a win-win situation. Nintendo gets their money that they want, and we who play their games get the games that we want to play. Simple as that.
Piracy won't ever be stopped. It will just slow down to varying speeds. Nintendo through their spiteful efforts to stop it just make it worse. Wether they like it or not, people like their games. And they can't bully people into getting what they want.
I think the opposite.... i think flashcards like the R4 actually sold a lot of systems and when you think about it.... Nintendo is one of the few that actually makes money on every sold system. And with all that revenue coming from their freemium titles... theyre overreacting. They should release 2 versions of their systems... 1 premium that plays games thru data carriers and a cheaper (cheaper built) online only version thats slightly more vulnerable to piracy.... block these hacked systems from the multilplayer servers... pirates happy/you happy/paying customers happy, you might even sell 2 consoles... mario kart just aint as fun on your own.
The Nintendo DS was definitely the system where Nintendo was quite badly impacted by piracy. The insane availability of DS flash carts caused millions to pirate. Everyone knew at least one person who did this, and it happened all around the world
Some piracy is kind of deserved, especially when they release remakes that were much cheaper on the older console for $40 or $60
I think this is more of an issue of "Nintendo's fear of piracy" rather than Nintendo actually being harmed by piracy. Nice video, though!

However to even use that emulator legally, you must own a HACKABLE switch, dump certain files from it, and then dump your game
I like the structure and editing of your videos

The Nintendo E Shop died yesterday, rendering many games lost and content inaccessible.
Pirates: Welp, Nintendo. You refuse to learn.
Id like to have Nintendo's problem$$$
Not forget to mention Nintendo produced just toys rather than producing actually serious games that is play able for every divice

if I can't buy a game and play it, I'm pirating it im not paying $20 for a game made in 1983
You are so underrated

Piracy is new to me like my 1 year old 3ds.and has old game.
There was one video they told the man he had to tell 911 he wants to be arrested then the console was calling 911 thya was very disturbing
It won't be able to make any games anymore 😪

What the fuck, 24 dislikes. Why tough.
2 years later, and Nintendo is the richest company in japan.
By what metric? Not by largest revenue, wouldn't even be in the top 50.
