@@fluffymacaw933 This portable tv's like this one on video are made on CD5151CP integrated circuit, if you unsolder 11pin from that circuit and connect composite signal there (not to circuit, connect it to the board) it will work with really good quality(as for crt of course). Edit: if it's made on ka2915 integrated circuit then do it with pin 5 instead.
You can hack the volume control to put the av audio there. The audio sucks anyway, but it's so characteristic of these tvs that it triggers nostalgia happiness for me.
Just got a gray one of these yesterday. From what I was told the previous owner only used it for like a month and put it back in the box. When I first turned it on it didn't show anything but a blank screen (the radio worked tho :D), and I traced it down to the TV/AV switch in the back which wasn't making ANY contact at all due to oxidation. So I fixed that and now I have a nice little portable tv that's barely been used before.
Thanks a lot. and you anticipated my dream of playing (ms. pacman plug n play console). on a 5.5 inch portable tv. You just had days thinking about it. I just haven't done it yet because the mail and transport service changed their policy and now they are more fussy about the boxes. especially the elongated ones.
Hi there........I have one of these.......but I can't get a picture. Maybe you can tell me what I'm missing...? It has a little antenna. I have satellite in the house......would that be interfering with a signal for the UHF/VH or VL......? Thanks so much, Linda
These older sets can only receive analog broadcasts, nowadays most countries are digital broadcasts only unfortunately. There are adapters you can get (called digital to analog converters) that can connect to your TV and let you watch it. The only thing is that the actual TV's tuner has to be set to channel 3 or 4, and you tune the TV with the converter box. The good thing about this is you get to use a remote! If you have any more questions just reply!
I still have a couple of portable TV sets. I actually tried them out with the digital to analog converter and was shocked just how good a picture you could have with a strong, clean signal. TV Games work nicely as well.
@@CricketBonez - In my case, RCA stereo jack. Plugged the 1/8" plug, and I think yellow was the video and white was the audio. If not, switch it. You might be overthinking your solution. Remember, you may need to tune to channel 3 (or 2) to see a picture.
I think he used standard Composite cable with yellow for video and white for audio (it can be either white or red). Consoles like the PS3 allow SD resolution output (must be set to that in the Console Video output settings) and the console itself usually comes with a AV cable. At least they always had one when you got one new. When you get a console second hand you may not always get the composite AV cable with it but if you look up for such a cable you may always find a replacement spare one. So in most cases you don't even need a HDMI converter box that would convert a digital AudioVideo signal to an analog AV signal. These plug and play consoles (like that Pac Man one he played) already had composite Audio & Video RCA connectors on the cable that's attached to it.

If it's just the circular UHF/VHF one then you can use a VCR as an adapter if you have one. You can also buy small boxes that will convert the composite/RCA cables to RF, they're called "RF Modulators". If yours is really old (like a Sony I have from 1967) that has a headphone-style jack for signals then you'll have to jerry-rig something together

These little black and white TVs are much better than their equal sized colour counter parts because the color-mask is making the picture look a lot less detailed and more rasterized. While a Black and White TV tube is very clear and very smooth in comparison. So yeah, it may not have colour but it certainly has a good picture for its size. Even though you have to adjust it properly to contrast and brightness but that's the fun-part that just makes the analog experience more of a real deal. Plus.... it has no input lag ;)
