The Unit was one of my most favourite shows back in the day.
The dude that the .50 blew up on was Kentucky Ballistics. It was a breech loaded .50 and I think it had something to do with the specs on the round and overpressure in the chamber. Anyway, a piece of shrapnel penetrated his neck and I think nicked his jugular. He shoved his thumb into the wound. Now he has merch "Shove your thumb in it". There was another channel that it was either a Gustav or RPG blew up mid ignition while he had it shouldered. The orthopedic surgeon that breaks down wounds and injuries in movies did episodes on both of these.
If I remember correctly, he tried to fire a SLAP round. Which you're not supposed to use in they type of rifle.
Also that .50 cal rifle was a screw on cap. Most threaded specs for high pressure, especially an Explosive, NEED to be tighten to a specific inch pound or the threads will be damaged and malfunction.
Honestly high yield ammo or not. A screw on cap for the end piece of a barrel is a dumb idea in general. There's nothing safe about that rifle.
@alavila8373 yeah, I forgot the specific one but it wasn't ball, ap, or even apit, like you said a slap or maybe a rafus, but all those specialty rounds are kind of notorious for degrading and going way over pressure for various reasons, but hey, just put a thumb in it.
The round was in spec of the rifle, a normal SLAP round would have worked fine. The issue was is the rounds were not from a known source and they were loaded WAAAY hot.
I agree, that design for a .50 cal is not ideal.
@@verdonix1976that’s exactly what happened
SERE Training episode 8 is what I'm looking forward to. That was a wild episode and I didn't know there was training that goes deep into your mind. A true battle of the mind, body, and soul.
I saw this scene and it reminded me of a story I had heard about Margaret Thatcher. She volunteered to sit in the shoot house while the SAS went through. The story goes that she didn't flinch and that's how she got her nickname "The Iron Lady".
I can't remember if it's in the movie but I think it's called 6 Days and it's about the embassy siege in London that was the first real world deployment of the SAS. You guys should check it out.
Watched this yesterday. Worth a watch.
The iron lady title isn't related to the embassy event, it was given to her by a journalist, and 6 Days it's an awesome movie
@@mrThepunisher92 thanks for reminding me I can look stuff up instead of trying to remember something I heard/read like 30yrs ago.
"well, have you tried?" That look hit deep hahaha.
Yes, please definitely continue. Dark of the Moon, is the one many people have pointed out, but Report by Exception, and some along those the more spy/assassination lines might also be very interesting to see.
YES!!! Every time you review a "Unit" episode I bring up "Dark of the Moon". Season 2, Episode 17. Of all the episodes I think this one is most relevant to FNG Academy's capabilities.
Yes, MORE of The Unit
Sending Snake Doc out like that is the new version of David Sending Uriah to the front to get killed 😂
*Buck: "I'm with him, I wanna start throwing tables" ahahaha* 🤣🤣🤣🤣
*Always love a Beers and Breakdowns gentlemen. I am still looking forward to The Accountant review, it has awesome tactical moments and great scenes*
Touching on that opening scene, according to the book “inside delta force” by one of their earlier members Eric Haney, he does mention that to graduate from the operator training course they would switch out being the “civilian” inside the room during live fire. Crazy stuff but I guess they’re that good
After watching this show years ago its so damn cool to have you berets review it. Fun.
Kentucky Ballistics, bolt action Serbu .50 cal. Over charged or sabotaged SLAP round. Bad Juju.
Love this show and y’all covering the series, definitely intense doing live fire CQB with guys in the room haha
I cant wait for the selection and SERE episodes
The Unit, I bet it's bad! Man I just got fired after 14 yrs. Thanks for keeping my ass entertained! Time 2 start my next chapter. I'm 44 so military in way outta the question, not exactly the best time of year to look for a job.
Depends I guess. I used to watch it back in the day. It reminded me a lot of the usual military shows. Cheap on action.and lots of home drama. Naging wives etc.
12:16 the guy just proved my point.
But keep in mind.I prefer Ultimate Force over this one. Seal team was better than the Unit.
the later seasons are awesome too keep goin with this show
I'm enjoying your entertaining reviews of the UNIT
You have to do Season 2, Ep 17, Dark of the Moon. That episode doesn't have the women in it at all. Basically, setting up the defense on a COP in Afghanistan and repelling attackers. Seems like it would be right up a Green Beret's alley.
Yes continue this series, it's a good show.
these are fun to watch and listen to. Please do more bros
The Pacific!
i just finished you book. loved it. better brocken.
Just FYI those guys are or should I say were being coached by an ex Delta guy Erik Haney the unit is actually based in hus book "Inside Delta Force"
I think y'all should watch three episodes in Season 2:
-S02E14: Johnny B. Good (honestly the best episode in the series)
-S02E17: Dark of the Moon (you'll love this one because there are no wives in this episode at all, but you'll groan at other parts)
-S02E18: Two Coins (another good episode I'd love to hear your take on)
The Unit got better as it went on.
I loved this show when it came out. Its so cool
The critiques of their cqb is accurate. That being said, The Unit was a bit older, less savvy advisors and such. Still was monumental in the fact it dealt with issues on the home front. Love snake doc!
Ballistic High Speed RPG-7 blows up. Keep up the great content. You guys are killing it.
yes continue this show!
“Your tinnitus is not service related.”
Agreed. I mean if they do this just once. They will be fine after a few days. But if they do this on a constant basis…they are definitely going deaf 😂
In my case the tinnitus was but the documented hearing loss after 22 years in the artillery wasn’t
My command would use this show at training on what not to do 😂😂😂
Are you guys gonna watch some more Seal team with Tyler Grey? That was awesome! And thanks for this video, enjoyed it. As usual 😎
Keep doing this it is the funniest reaction you have done
Y'all should check out the show "Strike Back." Its an expat disgraced American operator teaming up with an SAS over the top spy agent type action drama.
But while watching it I was really surprised at the movements, individual tactics, and communication. Though they also do the cheesy "lets gossip while clearing rooms" crap occasionally. Lots of guns, lots of tactics (some cheesy some not), lots of boobs.
GIVE US AN EPISODE A WEEK!
Not sure how I ended up here, I’d completely forgotten about the unit but I really enjoyed this reaction, so I’ve subbed and am looking out for episode 4.
"Old school cravat?" You young punks. And STAY OFF MY LAWN!
Don't know if this movie has been recommended yet, but there's a free Australian war film about Vietnam here on UA-cam called "Danger Close" that was pretty good.
Do our boy Tyler a solid and breakdown Tour of Duty
Are you sure that is Johnny Tran from the first fast? I'm pretty sure that was DK from Tokyo Drift....
Need to do the wall!
Keep doin the unit and do seal team as well
I definitely love the unit. Would love to watch more of these when you have time maybe you could do an old-school Samuel L Jackson, movie the negotiator
yeah this was good
Bro, we had the hadji bootleg box set on burnt cd’s of this show on my last deployment. It was our favorite 😂
14:00 His boss works for State farm
S.E.R.E. school is coming up soon in this show, can't wait to hear you guys react to that one
The dude who blew up his 50 cal was Kentucky Ballistics, and if I remember correctly it wasn't a Barrett but a serbu rn50, he did a video to explain what happened to him and what went wrong.
Maybe do one week unit , one week strike back and one week seal team. All close but different time frames with similar content and long running shows
Definitely do more pacific , could you do wind talkers?
I'm a woman, and I used to fast-forward through the wife stuff, too. Same on SEAL Team.
I have a question. Mack, the character who got shot during CQB training because he was out of position, his wife was involved in an affair with his commanding officer. Have you ever heard of something like this in real life? Would would be the outcome if the officer was caught?
The wife Sleeping with your CO thought that it would get you a promotion ....
"It's just a training exercise."
Love these videos, I've two suggestions that I think could be fun.
1. Is Starship Troopers, we all know it's satire but damn does it get me pumped every single time so would be fun to see you guys joke and criticise it
2. Is Outpost 1 and maybe 2 and 3 but mainly one, the Nazi zombies one, again another dumb movie but could be interesting to see you guys pick it apart.
Keep up the great work love ye all
LOL yeah because giant bugs are smart enough to figure out multiple orbits and solar system trajectories and hit a target on the ground on a distant planet, and not accidentally hit the ocean which covers the majority of it. Silly ass movie.
Exactly, movie is corny AF, just popular because of Denise Richards@@jakester455
The Unit, was a good program, and my ex would watch it with me sometimes, she said the women were like watching a soap opera to her😢, but decent story lines, actually was written by delta type black ops scenarios.
Cross of Iron would be a good one to watch.
Spear of Destiny
Oh that is a great point lmao it is hilarious that he's so good with managing relationships with the boys but is absolutely clueless with his wife (21 minutes ish)
Hello, guys! Great show, congratulations. Here's a couple of suggestions for you from an old fart: JI Jane, 1997 with Demi Moore and Peacemaker 1997 with George Clooney and Nicole Kidman. With the last one you'll have a lot of laughs, they don't make them like they used to. Stay cool, guys, you're great.
I have seen the show 3 times all the way through, and I can fly through it because I fast forward through the wife drama. Review every episode.
You guys should do COLORS!! 80S CLASSIC
I agree with what Princess is saying about shooting techniques. I’m glad that he didn’t complain too much
Hey Kurt back back in the day in basic we hit a tiny piece of C-4 with a hammer. Yeah it went boom!
The British version the ultimate force had a much higher production. You might want to check it out.
Ultimate Force is one of those shows where the later seasons are so different from the earlier ones that they're almost different shows. I remember the later seasons were like mini television movies and had a ton more clearly evident consultation. Still the earlier ones weren't bad for the time, even simple things like actually shouldering a weapon and using the sights was the mark of a "tactical themed show/movie" back in those days because the industry really was that poorly consulted, I remember infinite ammo mags and hip spraying SF was still a common thing in the early 2000's. Shudder.
@CoffeeFiend1 season on3 is the only real season . The show so jumped the shark like the unit did later on.
I wonder if the hot wash Dirt Diver did is how it’s really done in OTC with the criticality and intensive introspection
More reacts to the pacific plz
Since he pointed it out everyone in that room is now deaf
19:50 that's Scott from Kentucky ballistics and Adam from ballistic high-speed had an RPG launcher blow up on his shoulder
It is a take-away from SAS. The 22nd did it with Maggie Thatcher in the room once...no sh*t...true story. We did the same thing with some State Department folks and a team from 1st Force Recon in the mid 90s. Needless to say, the State pencil pushers almost fainted...
You guys should review Red Vs. Blue!
If you don't watch the women... you miss the TOTALLY plausible storyline of the CO boning the MSG's wife everytime he deploys him.
@fngacademy Would you consider starting a B&B on the TV show Over There? I believe when it came out it had the distinction of being the only TV series to be set during an active war.
Apparently mythbusters set C4 on fire and shot it and it didn't detonate, but I can't find a free video of it.
Funny episode
Hey man, when is your ruck trainer coming back in stock? And why is the weight collar sold separately?
fact check: it was "more than $100 grand" under the hood of the car, not $90k or $100k.
I loved the Unit when it came out and have been thinking about rewatching it, but after mainlining SEAL Team for years now, I feel like I’ll just be disappointed. I would also - as a woman - fast forward the scenes with the wives if/when I do, though. 🤣 I’d love for you to keep going with this one and, of course, SEAL Team. Love the channel. 👍🏻
You guys should check out Das Boot. Out of your comfort zone but an awesome war movie.
You guys should checkout the movie “Blood Diamond”.
Administrative Results…is that you?
SWAT CAME TO MY HOUSE!!!
It's been a few years, but if I remember correctly, they set that up, so the women would freak out and try to convince a visiting senator to allocate more funding to their cause.
I feel like the combat and just more about the show advanced in season 2-4
I'm still waiting for the next strike back episode.
Woah neat 😎
Team America is one to watch.
The wives on Seal Team seem more realistic and less annoying.
When will the Ruck trainer be back in stock?
Have you guys reviewd The A Team? I know its totally unrealistic but fun to watch. Im also interested on your opinion of the CIA and contractors like blackwater in the military.
Kentucky ballistic shot a serbu single shot 50cal and it had a catastrophic malfunction
Margaret Thatcher the Prme Minister of the United Kingdom sat in a chair as a hostage. When the S.A.S. went through the shoot house. Practicing a live fire hostage rescue drill.
If I'm sitting in that room it doesn't matter how skilled the guys are coming in and shooting targets, I'm shitting my pants regardless.
I hope you guys do continue with the show. But at the very least, you really should react to the episode "Dark of the Moon" (Season 2, ep. 17).
The Unit S4 E1 The Unit does a SEAL 🦭 Reveal 😂 from roof top pool Their ARMY My Guy😂 WTH
So,if you will be advising for idiocracy 2 movie special units...can you please include sf lost and found unit?!
You guys should breakdown a movie called Free Fire. Its not military but the whole movie is a shoot out and its very entertaining.
You guys might like the short film SCP Overlord
Could you do one on Collateral (2004)?
Do the episode called Pandemonium
SEAL TEAM!
20:30 Scott from Kentucky belistics shot a raufus round. Idk how tf to spell it.
