Setup
I use the same setup and setting for every demo.
Guitar into Vox ToneLab SE. The ToneLab is bypassed for clean and set to a U.S. style amp for the dirty. I have a slight reverb and delay as well.
ToneLab into Ditto Looper
Ditto into B-52 AT-100 into clean channel. All EQ is set to max.
Amp is mic'd with a Pyle SM-57 knockoff slightly off axis. The mic goes into a Behringer Tube Ultragain Mic 200.
No post effects or EQ of any kind, just the raw tracks.
I use the same settings so you can tell if the guitar sounds brighte-darker than other ones I have reviewed or see differences such as pickup output etc.
I use the guitar I am demoing to create the loop.

Man I got that guitar for a ridiculously cheap price and let it go for a very simple PRS plus some cash when I was in high school…I have never regretted more in my life. That les paul was amazing

9 out of 10 times when someone gets a guitar with EMG HZs they immediately swap out for 81 85s . Honestly even for Heavy Metal the HZs more than hold their own . Good review btw . That blues number you played was really cool .
i prefer the hz passives i have them in a black les paul custom thing is a riot with a marshall cranked

great demo. I'm buying one. zakks my favorite and id rather have one of these than the new wylde brand guitars for twice the money.
I bought it brand new back in 2008 and change the pick up into EMG 81/85 and its still great till now

I swear this was the best sounding lp I owned, I put burstbuckers in it. I have a 91 and 2015 Gibson standard and I miss it. The metals were trash, but that neck was incredible. I should’ve kept it and refinished the top

Im thinking of buying one of these and it comes with emg hz and im thinking of gutting those out and putting in emgs zw (81/85) my question is will this one require the long shaft pots or short shaft?

Just grabbed a Korean one. Previous owner had Zakk 81/85 EMGs installed. Question: he has it wired bridge control knobs on the top, neck control knobs on the bottom....said the shop wired it this way because that how Zakk plays it? I have not clue. It's a simple matter of switching wires...just wondering if it should be conventional Les Paul "knob" layout or not. Thanks!

+vicente perez diaz I don't think they still make it. Zakk started his own guitar brand. You can still find them used though.

Good Job you play 100x better than me....I own one of these got it for $360 used @ guitar center...these guitars are extinct and now collectors item. Beware of the knockoff made in wuhan chibson guitars !!

You hear now why I quickly replaced the neck pickup?! It's shitty and just as tinny as the bridge pickup which is odd.

The HZ pickups are junk. Ive had two of those guitars and dropped in Seymours. Done!
