Ahh yes, the game that you want fast car, unique customization, underground tuning, and of course the fanservice of booba that you kept in your garage for your amusement~
Fun fact: the GBA version of SRS was one of the most graphically and technically impressive games ever released on it, problem was it had a terrible framerate, but it might actually be possible to see what it should’ve been like with the power of modern emulators and framerate patches
It is great value for money, I think. I mean, this game is definitely not bad, just a little rough around the edges. With a few tweaks this could actually be quite a good game.
I just checked, it's on sale right now for £0.62. Having not watched the video (yet) but remember it's trailers from when it launched, it can't be a bad choice at less than a quid right?
SRS was in a league of its own. I don't consider it a clone, personally. I think it was revolutionary in the fact it had so much to offer, so many different trim levels of vehicles from that era, and the graphics were not bad for it's era. Super slept on game, if you ask me. Is it better than Underground? This is debatable. I for sure think the physics are way better, along with the graphics, and I think it's way more true to street racing of this time period. I can't remember the last time I saw a 240SX with hydraulics... I think NFS U2 was a bit ridiculous at times, although still fun and legendary. If more people knew about Sega's installment, I guarantee it would be right up there with it, as it surpassed it in a lot of ways.
How can you say that it was revolutionary and that it was not a clone? The only thing it does is taking all the popular elements from previous games like NFSU and Midnight Club and adding some cheesy horny girls
As a kid, I played this for a bit whenever my aunts would let me play on their GameCube. But at the same time, I was also playing U1/2 and the difference between the two lead me to drop the game. But I would like to pick this up sometime in the future. And if you wanna talk naughty racing games, see Drift Girls. The servers are down and it's delisted but it was a toned down Hunniepop with racing. Honestly, it was gone too soon. I actually enjoyed the game for other than the booba and the music was enjoyable.
This and Underground 1 / 2 where my favorites from age 4-10, easily. We had a knack for buying used PS2's that kept dying or eating discs, so ive owned just about 5-7 copies of SRS and NFSU1/2 each. Gotta say, SRS caught my attention way more than it should have. Was probably the booba.
I remember played Juiced on PS2 and being weirded out that you couldn't steer with the arrows, only with the left stick. Now every racing game on console is like that.
Holy Toledo this takes me back. My father no-lifed this game and couldn't beat the final series. It was absurd and lead to ultimately moving on to beating Final Fantasy X instead. (It was never beaten properly either)
Probably the weirdest "We have Underground 2 at home" game. I like the upgrade system and to some extent styling/ricing here, and also having personalized opponents is always a nice touch, but damn, everything else is meh at best. The police is weird, the respect conditions are brutal and the girlfriend system is something Namco was pushing (assumptions) to sell the game. I somewhat miss the mid 00s naivety when everyone unironically could've approve this idea.
SRS was originally being created by 3DO the guys who made the Army Men series. They were attempting to make a more realistic style of street racing game and I was allllll for it. Then they went out of business and Namco bought it and turned it into this. Sad, but I still loved this game either way. I could never beat it cuz at the end I couldnt get enough respect style skill points whatever they were called to get to the final race(s)
Eutechnyx was also responsible for the PS1 version of Test Drive Le Mans and Hot Wheels Beat That. They didn’t make a lot of good games, but when they did, whew were they memorable
My reaction to this game [11:00]. Whoever made this was....very down bad lol. Considering this was made to compete against NFS Underground I will admit it is quite *unique* to say the least, I'm just surprised to see it still listed on Steam considering the content. This was a really well done video, props to you, Javi and g0re for bringing this together. This was great to watch through.
Street Racing Syndicate was fun to me growing up. I never got to beat it though. I put all my eggs in the 350z basket and traction became impossible under 70mph because it made so much power. If I could do it all over again I'd put all my eggs in an AWD basket instead, so I could still have traction when my horsepower climbs north of 700
this was the game of my childhood and it really took me a lot to 100%. The only worst part was the poor physics but the graphics were amazing for that era
I remember this game. You could unlock different "spec"(ie Factory Toyota supra rz) or a Tuned Rx8. I miss this game. I remember the mid to later races to be challenging. I missed this game
I don't know where you are from or how life is like there but where I am from, you could rent games at one point in time and this was a pretty good rental. It was a racing game that you knew was familiar but with fanservice lol. For what it's worth, it worked.
I loved the split-screen multiplayer racing, and online pink-slip races. Pretty sure there was not a single other racing game out there offering true pink slip racing.
And I was unaware, but when I saw Tila Tequila in the game, my life never felt so complete! All the grinding over several races and challenges with one or two cars was worth it!
Don’t care what anyone says. NFSU1&2 and SRS had the BEST atmosphere for street racing back in the early to mid 00s. This new stuff can’t compare. I miss those days. Now in my 30s only racing I do is at the track.
I bought all those games. Midnight Club was a POS. Juiced and SRS were high on my list of favs but my fav at that time (i mean next to Gran Turismo) was Tokyo Xtreme Racer.
This game. I own it on Xbox. I've played it back in the day. It was fun to me, honestly. Just saw the price on Steam, too. €0,74 is a steal, so I decided to get it. 💪🏻
The only game that allowed itasha tuning and had that sun glare which was a really good feature imho, it's kinda ironic how some arcade games simulate some things a lot better than any sim racing game on the market ever.
i had this game on xbox. in fact, while you cant go look it up, i had the world record on one of the tracks due to the timer bugging out, it was like 15 seconds better than anyone else, and the record was never broken. i didnt remember the women though.
Somehow when I played this game when I was a kid I spammed the buy button on the GTR and it ended up letting me buy it with a negative bank account, so this game taught me about loans.
SRS is the best game ever I play on PS2, I have that game back on 2008 after I finishing NFSU2 but for me still.. NFSU2 still memorable had a tons modifications for the cars.
Duuuude! I’m so glad someone finally made a vid on this game! I had it growing up and let me tell you, on top of it being a fun game imo, the women 😂😂😂😂

for some reason ages ago i got like 15 keys of SRS. handed them out to stream chat and such... not a single person liked the game LOL its at that perfect level of "pure crap but its fun"
This game has real life physics for cars and you need to pay for repairs to them I remember I saved up for a skyline used all my money smashed it couldn’t afford to repair it and it was too damaged to win any race and make money.
lol i remember playing srs on the ps2 it was weird but kinda cool like for the cars they had different models one the cars was the eclipse you could pick what model of it you wanted like gt or gts they even had 2nd gen an 3rd gen models
Zoomers don't know that the early 2000s were actually like this. You cruise around in your badass car, race people, and pick up girls. My buddy and I got chased by a police helicopter while racing on the interstate through the downtown area of our city. Doing burnouts until you couldn't see then taking off before the police arrive. Going 140mph on country roads. A girl sitting in my passenger seat asked what my tachometer was for and I hit the throttle to show her the needle move and she jumped and squealed when the engine revved because it startled her. That's all it took. Pre-2008 was amazing IRL and online. Everything started going to shit when the iPhone arrived
Legend says SRS was developed in the middle of a desert judging by how thirsty the devs were
The ladies in this game have a promising future on the website exclusively for fans. 😅
too old for that now at this point! 🤣🤣🤣
Someone will eventually find their content appealing. Hope that someone is not the schoolmates of their kids. 😅

It is great value for money, I think.

I had no clue the people who made this game were the same who made the F&F tokyo drift game, that game is actually really good.
