I also find it helpful to use visualization (with as many sensory memories as I can pull into my body and mind) of an activity/event where laying supine was extremely relaxing (such as laying in cool shaded grass under a willow tree in summer, or sunbathing, or floating on your back in safe water like a pool or calm lake). The more I can retrieve those good feelings the more I can get my body to relax and learn that where I am now is not dangerous either. This is especially handy when it’s not your bed but a strange place, a medical situation, or even at the dentist (although for long procedures I have sometimes asked for one of the lead aprons to use for a weighted blanket effect as well).

This will present a new challenge for me: sleeping on my back. I have always slept on my right side...even in my mother's womb. I might fall asleep on my back, but my unconscious body will return to the familiar sleep posture, and I will wake up on my side.

Renee, some scientists said that sleeping on the back is not good for brain. is this true?!
My name is Solomia ( one of my friend, long time ago, created such account with strange looking name, and I still have it😄)

Hi Solomia! Nice to meet you :)
I don’t know that I would agree with that as a general blanket statement. I could see that be the case for somebody that possibly doesn’t breathe as well laying on their back and reduced oxygen to the brain for long periods of time is obviously a problem.
Are usually take the approach that if someone wakes up feeling rested and refreshed, whatever they’re doing is working for them :-)
