@SlidingBenchTrainer yw, it's been a game changer for squats, deadlifts, rows, and bicep curls. I get way more tension at the bottom. It seems too small for chest press though. And the original bands are too long for me. So I might have to buy a couple 37 inch bands to see if they can help with the chest press.
I got the 37-inch SSF band to use with my X3. I found that the green band is the same force as the Black X3. If you shorten the band, it becomes harder which is closer to actually using a barbel.
I stopped into SSF office today to pick up a set of 32" and 37". Super great bunch of guys. They will get my business from now on just based on their customer service and attitude. The also honored the discount code.
We've been using 41" bands for years with my wife now but I just ordered the 37" so we can both get better tension. 32" was never really interesting since they seemed too short for squats, OHP etc.. Awesome review as usual
Good review. The new SS 37" bands look interesting though I'm not sure I will try them out yet since I have the Harambe 38" bands. I do have all of their other size loop bands and really like the quality. I have been using the Paraforce bands pretty much exclusively since they first came out last November and mine have held up very well. I have seen a few pictures online of some broken ones but I think overall they have been very durable.
I don't know if the 37" would be any different than Harambe bands. Harambe bands are thicker and harder than Serious Steel's equivalent bands. I'm kind of short and I measured the force of the Harambe bands. They actually exceed their force ratings.
I love your reviews on band products. I just got my X3 bar last week and was getting used to the feel of band training and started the 12 week program on Monday. I’ll also plan to use the bands with my total gym or bowflex pr3000 unit. I will use the bands I have for now but I am curious over the course of your training how the paraforce holds up over time. Those are bands I eventually will want in my current band sets. Thanks for your reviews and opinions on products!
Thanks for sharing that and for the positive comments. I’ll definitely keep people posted on the performance bands. If they do ever snap or break or I have other thoughts on it I’ll also put a comment on this video for an update.
You've got some good mass considering training with bands, I did train with bands back in the early 2000s, bodylastics except they are all one length and did lose mass, from weights eventually going back to weights later.
I do love me my bands, but it was never a long term thing I did for consistent workouts mainly a supplement to other stuff. Your story is very similar to something I covered in a recent "band" video here ua-cam.com/video/z8kbmpCVD0M/v-deo.html
I bought the performance bands and it feels way easier than the latex bands. I asked the company about it and they said it's supposed to be easier but it generates greater force at certain points of the movements compared to the latex ones. I dunno about that but it's more compact so that's a plus.
That’s why I also like the Harambe system board. It has different slots for the bands but it’s not an good travel product because of the size of the board.
I have used my Mac board (wooden board in video) doing that as well as strapped it to a total gym glide board. I forget which video or videos but I’ve definitely shown that in some as well. overall I think I just prefer doing the standing version. But it’s great as another option.
@@hybridresistanceis your neighbor building more of those custom made ones to sell in the future. I use your videos to get ideas of your routines. I wish you’d still make videos on the Fit as that is my model as well, but loving the change in resistance that X3 is providing right now over a couple of days of using it.
@@threeboysandonegirl9870 He just made another 5 (now 4 left), so they are in if you're interested. I'll still make videos on the FIT, so don't worry about that.
I can relate to the standard bands being a bit long for me. I'm 5'7" and it's especially true on the chest press. I would double loop on the hooks and it's perfect but don't like how the bands are rubbing against each other on the hooks. I'm guessing it would wear them out more like that? I'm not spending more on the Performance bands yet since my standard bands are still practically new. I wish X3 offered different sizes in the future.
Mike. Serious Steel Bands has a chart that covers a users height and than they have the band size for the specific exercise that the user will be preforming, are those charts a user should seriously look at and go buy by it to buy the correct band size ? Thank you
If you have to choose one set only, which one do you prefer? I’m debating between serious steel shorter band for immediate resistant from beginning and their new paraforce
Great review. I currently have the 41" Quantum Bands and just purchased the Clench Footplate and Nexus Pro Bar and wanted your opinion on whether the 41" Quantum vs Serious Steel 37" inche bands would work better or even the 32". I am 5'3 and would love your thoughts.
Great review! Thank you, I have the X3, the para force bands are always sold out when I try to get them, if you had your choice between the new SS bands or the para force bands which one would you get, and how many of the new SS bands would you recommend if you decided on those? Thank you again for another great video.
That's kind of hard just considering they are both fairly new, but I'd go with the SS 37" only because it's a different experience and offers something practical in shorter length to change things up a bit. The paraforce I'd say are worth it once your standard set of 41" are in need of replacement.
@@hybridresistance I’m really interested in trying the SS 37 inch bands, won’t have to wait for a while to get them like the para force bands, and probably a different tension too, thank you for the information.
Another excellent review. Ironically just yesterday I was looking for loop bands longer than 41". Not sure why the maximum is 41". Anyway I'm a bit taller and to get a decent leg workout need to use a heavy band but getting the darn thing behind my neck is impossible... and even a front squat is challenging to get into position. Oh well. Thanks for these great reviews.
I have the same problem. I bought 2 handles and loop the bands and holding the handles by my side ,sqaut that way . Its a lot better . I might also buy a front squat harness to be able to stick the bar into first and then put my feet inside the bands and push down and not use the platform
@@iang8169 Good ideas! I did buy a front squat harness from Titan awhile back. Didn't work very well for me with either a bar or without. I might try taking 2 bands and linking them together with a carabiner clip and run under the X3 platform. I have that short X3 bar but I have bought other bars that are longer. Two 41" bands may be too long but I have some shorter ones as well. Might try that tonight.

@@iang8169 It was awhile back that I tried the Titan shoulder harness. My recollection was the balance was not right - wasn't stable. Maybe it was the bands pulling from below - not sure. It might work for you. I will say I MUCH prefer the standard back squat to the front squat in general. I agree - finding a good band exercise for quads is challenging.
I've actually started to go more with the single leg squat and have been enjoying it. Yesterday when I did lower body, I actually brought back the front squat (with small bar) and it felt great again, especially with both a darker gray and then black band for higher dialed in reps. I did this after my main sets of single leg / deadlifts.
This was a great video to get some basic knowledge of bands as i am a beginner to resistance training. I am trying to figure out what system to purchase. Do the x3 bands really have the better force potentials due to the patented material of the bands? And is this material in just the paraforce bands or the original bands? Are the original bands the same material as the SS and Rouge, etc? (Which is latex right?) If the paraformave bands really have an advantage over latex ones for muscle hypertrophy, then that's what I'm going for. But I prefer not to spend the extra money if there is really no difference in results.
I personally don’t think there’s really a whole lot of difference as far as results with the specific materials in the resistance bands. More so the materials make up the quality of the bands, which definitely can increase the stiffness or flexibility, but a lot of that might be personal preference. You certainly can get great results with a cheap pair of bands as well . I’ve got another video that goes over the best loop resistance bands, but you really can’t go wrong with brands such as serious steel, rogue, or even the clench bands to name a few. I also did a video talking about Harambe’s bands, which arguably might have the best overall quality loop style resistance, bands if you search for that one.
Thank you! I will review your other videos on these systems! I'm also interested in the data capture of the x3 force bar, do any other systems offer this kind of technology?
Hey can you please do a review on that Serious Steel 41" Mega Resistance Band with the X3. I want to see if it works with the product and how heavy duty the band actually is. Thanks!
Yes, I can potentially look into that one. I can tell you based on this video (below), that their "x-strong" gray is pretty much very similar if not harder than the x3 elite for what it's worth. Here's a video where I think I get into that ua-cam.com/video/kDB5eILkrlI/v-deo.html

He also said that he uses silicone oil to keep them from snapping and has done it every month.
So which resistance band company and product would you recommend for a beginner who’s 6ft tall and travels often and is willing to spend some money for decent longevity of these bands? 😅🙏
Honestly any one of these brand of bands are great (Rouge, Serious Steel, RubberBanditz, Elite FTS,) really comes down to the price you want to spend and band tensions you're looking for.
I've learned from using other SS bands to rinse them off first. I was getting "serious silt" in my eyes that would take awhile to go away. So just hose them off with water first.
Do you have a detailed pdf or doc that lists the easiest to toughest bands in order? I'm trying to find something tougher than the black Serious Steel 41" band / 37" gray band. The yellow in the 41" or 37" I find to be too difficult. That said, would you consider the Rogue Red as in between in terms of difficulty?
Hey! So do those new X3 bands have more tension at the start of rep? Now I'm used to the standard X3 bands it seems like they're real weak and ramp up only in the last 10-15cm of movement. It's like the resistance curve is too big on the standard bands, or lol its too short I don't know how you'd describe it but I mean there is no resistance for the first 50-75% of rep and then builds to max. Are those new bands strong at beginning and getting stronger throughout the range I guess. You know what I mean?
I'd say it's more of a gradual smooth ramp up in tension on the performance bands. I don't really notice more tension at the start. What I didn't say in the video is that they do feel more snug to start (on the chest press) for whatever that's worth. Honestly the difference is very slight in my opinion. For me I'd upgrade to these if my original x3 bands wore out assuming the long term quality is there, the smaller size of the bands, and the fact that you can double them up easier. Also cool that they are the only USA made loop bands. But this may not be worth the extra say $50 for some people.
