I’ve used it like potatoes with roast beef and as apples in a keto apple crisp. You are indeed correct that the Chocho (chayote) takes on the flavor of what it is cooking in. Thanks for your effort. Darlington, South Carolina
I often see that vegetable in Asian supermarkets but never know how to use them... Thanks to you now I know is how 😋 I will definitely try it!
You remind me of my late grandma...though she was Swedish. hehe Just same attitude. Just bought a “chocho” for the first time today... learning from the best! Thanks!

I picked one of these up not long ago in our local grocery store. It was a lot smaller than the one you have here. I used it in a stir fry with other veggies as I would a squash. I enjoyed it.
Thank you. Very helpful. Big up my Jamaicans
We call it choko here. My mother used to peel, chop and boil it as one of the vegies in meat and three veg. Boiled or steamed and smothered in butter it's great!
Respect mother much love...
So helpful thank you! I cannot eat potatoes anymore, so am going to try this in my fried potatoes and ham instead of the potatoes. Hope it works. Have a great day kind lady!

I would have never known that it could be used in salads or that it’s mild and takes on the flavors of your soup.
You made me smile while educating me. Your a terrific teacher.
My daughter is ten years old and loves to cook. I’m going to show her your video and make Jamaican soup with her.

Thanks I grew this vegetable on my 20 story balcony facing the Southwest up in Vancouver Canada and it was not part of the program but it was in its own part and it all the sudden one day was just there. I'm sad this day because it fell off as I was looking at it but it gave me a chance to try it to peel it to cut it and It was still a fair size like probably a Mandarin Orange size I also read the health benefits and Enjoy your video very much thank you!
I LOVE CHOCHO! My mom told me you can eat it raw and I didn't believe her
Damn, you and your mom be talking about munching on chocho like that?!
Oh I forgot it is called Pipinola in Hawaii. I wondered if you eat Upo squash, (also called bottle gourd) it is a long green squash that is eaten before the seeds mature. I Love that squash & maybe you can do a video on it. It can be used in many ways like stir fry, currys, soups etc.
Would this go good with oxtail soup? Great video. Thank you.
You have such a comforting spirit! Thanks for the tips :^)
Choko here in Australia. I thought my neighbour from India would be very familiar with this fruit I have growing over his fence but he'd never seen it. The plant can take reasonably hot weather but should we get 40'C + days with burning sun it will kill the plant. Once summer is over and autumn arrives it grows a metre every few days and covers everywhere it can climb. A fantastic plant to grow and will easily get four years of productive life from one.
Thanks I've sent it but didn't know how to prepare it...using it in my roasted fish
thanks for the info , just given some today and wondered what they were .

I can tell that despiteyour age, you are an educated lady using words like " julienne". I love your presentation especially, your command of the English language Some of the young people don't even know the meaning of "julienne"... they just use these modern gadgets, thereby causing an early onset of flabby upperarm muscles. Thanks for your insight!
