Plural:
Muchos -> Muchísimos (Masculine)
Muchas -> Muchísimas (Feminine)
Also, "muchisimas gracias" it's being even more thankful than with "Muchas gracias". It's a superlative.

@@spanishafterhours I was at a family studying Spanish and the Pa loved the first curse. It took some weeks to put 2+2 together just by watching Spanish news. They show everything, I mean everything, blood and guts, and he just went into all ways and tones to say J****. Basically, same use like English language but you get 2 syllables to make it more juicy.
My 2nd language is Thai and it is a no no for white people to swear in Thai. Maybe I would be allowed to swear in spanish, just a little.

I was in Spain in 1999. My vocabulary was pretty limited, but I felt like I was able to get by with "joder", "hostia", and "de puta madre". Gracias por el video!

One thing I have noticed in the English Premier League where there is huge diversity in nationality and languages, some of the Spanish phrases seem to have become universal language, even more so than English in some cases, not just the naughty words like ‘puto’ but also words like ‘Vamos’ which I think basically means ‘Let’s go’.

It's a really interesting fact about "Hostia" because in Quebecois French (Canadian French)we also use that word the same way. "Osti" or "Hostie".

In the Philippines, old folks also say, “que se joda” but’s its use is fading. We also say “coño” but to refer to fair-skinned children of rich families. We also say “la mierda” but to mean to aimlessly or uselessly go out like going to the mall. Spain did leave us with more colorful curse language.

Joder didn't ring any bell to me as a Romanian, until you started using it and I realized it comes from Latin futuere, and yes, we also have these expressions in Romanian
"Ma fute la cap" (he/she "effs" my head = stresses me),
"Ce te fute pe tine ce fac eu?" (What does it "eff" you (concern you) what do I do? = mind your own business )
"Futere!" - here it means "super / cool", basically meaning its like (having) sex.
"Futu-ti mortii ma-tii" is one of the most common swearing in Romanian. It means "'Ef' your mother's dead relatives". lol
To hide the futere verb we use a short version, like
"Tu-ti crucea ma-tii", where "Tu-ti" comes from "Futu-ti", but trying to hide it. It means "Ef your mother's cross". lol

in hungarian you can basically use every single word as a curse word if combined in the right way with another word. but spanish is definietly still up there

I think I just fell in love with you! Who are you?! When I was doing my maestría in Spanish here in Hawaii, my advisor, Marta, was from Spain. She did her dissertation on Spanish women cursing more than any other group of women on earth. 😂 That always cracked me up. After I did the Camino of Santiago, it all made sense. I did indeed hear, “joder”, everywhere I went. The best of the, “joder’s”, I heard was this refrán: “Joder joder, que no joderemos, pero joder, que ganas tenemos”.

I'm Filipino and all the Spanish curses you mentioned are being use in the Philippines as well with minor differences. There are 4000 to 5000 spanish words in the Filipino language. You should make a content comparing the Filipino Spanish words to the original Spanish meaning because a lot of them don't carry the same meaning anymore.

It's interesting, in Maltese we use "hostia" (for us we call it "ostja") in exactly the same way when translated

I still absolutely love this fucking video. If I were still teaching Spanish 101 at the University, I’d have to play this video for my class without a doubt. All the surfer kids would always pull me aside to ask how they say this curse word or that when they were making sentences to share with the class. Ha ha. I always said, you learn a language by learning to curse first. When I lived in Chile and was learning, I made way more local friends cause they liked hearing me practice cursing with my gringo accent. It was a great time for them so the more they wanted to teach me.

Actually in Québec all curses are Church-related! The strongest one is "Tabarnak" which comes from the word "tabernacle".
In Veneto (Italy) we say Ostia too!

American here, but as a speaker of fluent Swedish I feel like a lot of these are very similar to Swedish curse words. Spanish and Swedish curse words are all so useful and have several meanings, and several curse words in both languages are synonymous with one another.

Those are the correct words to lean Spanish, so useful!!
Interestingly, "coño" is used in the Spanish Caribbean as much as it is used in Spain, as in A LOT, but it is not too common in the rest of Latin America.
Cuba and PR were the last two colonies of Spain in Latin America so they were influenced longer though their accent is more Canarian and Andalusian based. Even thiugh DR was independent longer they did interact a lot with each other.

As a Puerto Rican I can confirm that the local use of “coño” and “puñeta” is alive and well!

In the part of JODER this one was somehow missing, which is one of my favourites: “NO TE JODE”, that is always said at the end of a sentence. It means that you are pissed of what the other said or did, but with weariness. It’s usually said with a previous phrase with sarcasm:
- Oh, tío, ¿te has caído?
- No, ¿qué va? Si es que me gusta mirar el suelo de cerca, no te jode…
That would be sth like:
- Hey dude, have you fallen to the floor?
- No, not at all! It’s like I like to watch the floor close to it, isn’t it obvious?
How about refranes? Cuando caminaba el Camino Francés, apunté, todos los refranes que escuché, en mi iPhone. Al final, tuve: el hombre como el osos, cuanto más pelo más hermoso, caballo grande, ande o no ande (qué todavía no entiendo…es como si o si?), y, la cebolla crece la polla. No me acuerdo los de más ya, hace muchos años. Barcelona et bona quando a bolsa sona, fue uno en Catalán que escuché muy a menudo. Pero no hablo catalán, así que seguro que deletreé mal. Y ya te conté abajo el que utilizara el famoso, “joder”. Unos más? Amo los refranes y las palabrotas. Joder.
"grande, ande o no ande" basically means that the bigger the better, even if it doesn't work. I would say its sometimes used ironically. Another refrán that is related to this one is "ante la duda, la más tetuda" which basically means "when in doubt go for the girl with bigger boobs" 😂

Nuestra herencia española hace q muchas de nuestras "vulgaridades" sean similares, pero como latinoamericanos, le hemos añadido nuestras propias variantes a la receta 😂 Por ejemplo, no usamos "hostia", pero tenemos "el c*ño de la madre" o el clásico "mamagüe*o" (Con G) (ca**sucker), tanto en masculino como en femenino y así podría seguir por horas... 😂😂
Don't get me wrong, English is a beautiful and fascinating language, but when it comes to swearing it is no match for us. Hahaha
Have you seen The Sopranos? English version of 'El c*ño de la hermana'! is used. I think it's swearing in general which is so flexible and adaptable in EVERY language! In England I've heard the 'F' word and the 'C' word used as a noun, adjective, verb, and just about every other type of word!
Thank you for making me feel NOT so ignorant. I have studied Latin American Spanish for years. I know the word "hostia," but never have heard it used in these cursing versions.
@@keithbaker4589 The problem isn't the lack of uses but the lack of words. You probably swear as much as us Spanish speakers, but we also have such a wide variety of words that show the pure originality of Spanish. Swear words are like herbs and spices, they enhance the flavor of some phrases to stress their importance and add a way to express your feelings through them. Knowing this, English swear words are like salt and pepper, proven reliable a lot of times… but sometimes that just isn't enough. Spanish swearing, on the other hand, have salt and pepper, but also parsley, oregano, paprika, coriander/cilantro, thyme, ginger, cumin… which let us swear like masters. While you try your best with what you have, we're absolute chefs of swearing. You just can't compete.
You are very convincing when swearing although one can tell you might not be the type to swear too often 😃 I enjoy your videos, it’s really interesting whilst different! Love spanish!
