It's also kinda haunting as, Mephiles is essentially stuck in a state inbetween existence and non existence with even the universe trying to prevent him from fully existing with how his boss door is hidden away. His last line before the fights over kinda made me feel bad for him.
My favorite scene made weird because of the re-written dialogue is the Knuckles scene, as him asking where Angel Island is, followed by Classic Sonic rubbing his stomach in shame, kinda gave off the vibe that Sonic ate the island.
It's because from what I've seen, the Japanese script was left largely untouched from OG Gens, so the lip synch and animations don't match between dubs.
Now that I think about it, it reminds me of America's Funniest Home Video where a little girl was being told by her mom that she had a baby inside of her and the little girl exclaimed "you ate the baby?!"
The Uncharted gag callback is what I was looking for and it did not dissapoint. Seeing how the game is still in its wrap, I'd like to think he bought the game just for the gag.
I mean, the remaster was made free at one point, so I guess it makes sense, especially since Sony seems to really want players to just buy games digitally these days so they don't have to give a cut to retailers, not to mention the PS5 Pro not having a disc drive included.
Eh...Shadow controls beautifully, but you do need to manually stop him. His slipperiness from his first game lives on in the form of Shadow taking a bit of time to stop, which will fuck you over if you just let go of the control stick. Stomp when you want him to or you can kiss that S-Rank goodbye.
@@rickyronny4019 No, I'm pretty good at Sonic games. There's a genuine delay between letting go of the control stick and Shadow actually stopping that reminds me of his supposed slipperiness from Shadow 05 (A game I never had problems with control-wise).

Those were good times everytime I saw a new video of either clement or Johnny beating each others times. A lot of people probably don’t even remember that. Damn I’m old
20:14 Same deal with me. I had no idea how to use it the first time. Turns out, in the most recent Twitter Takeover a week ago, Shadow explains how to tether upward using the Doom Morph. (Which also involves him saying “skill issue” to Sonic’s face).
Rail Canyon may seem dull, but it's important in two respects. First, in Heroes, this is where Shadow first discovered the Shadow Androids after defeating the boss, this is where he began to question his identity. Second, it serves to parallel Sky Rail in SA2. Shadow's journey through White Space is a reversal of his SA2 stages. In SA2, we start with Radical Highway, go through a natural zone with manmade objects/occupation, then a rail filled mountain region, and end at the ARK. In Generations we start at the ARK, go through Rail Canyon, get a natural zone with artificial elements with Chaos Island (or Kingdom Valley), and end with Radical Highway.
There's also the fact that the Heroes demo featured two stages- Seaside Hill as Team Sonic, and Bullet Station as Team Dark Clearly Sega associates the Canyon with Team Dark more than other heroes stages
And that second kid could very well be Amitie from Puyo Puyo, since we NEVER got a last name from that kid in her series while Ringo and Arle DO have last names and Sonic HAS crossed over with Puyo Puyo numerous occasions as Puyo Puyo is a sister series. Makes sense given they wanted to turn Popful Mail into a SONIC game as a way to introduce Amy Rose into western markets. Why Amy's personality developed into something like the titular Mail from her game.
13:50, I feel the in-story reason was probably that Shadow’s mindset during Radical Highway was closest to what Black Doom wanted in regard to wanting everything to die.
I feel like even an answer like that can be debated since Shadow can technically want everything to die during the numerous playthroughs of his own game. This just further begs the question of why there isn't any levels from Shadow's own game. If any game desperately needs it's own level to be represented by Black Doom, it had to be Shadow 05, a game where Black Doom can literally convince Shadow to side with him.
@@mikeanthony3300 Radical Highway is Shadow at his absolute most enraged - at this point in the story from his perspective shadow is like 15 minutes removed from the death of maria and wants humanity to die for their sins ( he is literally so apathetic towards humans he does nothing but stand in an empty room while the ark is falling towards the earth ) In westopolis and even the dark path in shadow the hedgehog he never really feels angry towards humanity - while black doom's influence is for sure corrupting him a lot of his motivation for the dark path is just " black doom will give me the secrets to my past! "
@demondoggo2768 And yet there are a few endings where Shadow either plans on literally destroying Earth or simply becoming an evil tyrant. Either way you slice it both SA2 and Shadow 05 had moments where Shadow clearly lacked morality and mercy but Shadow 05 had various endings that truly lead to such an evil version of Shadow. Shadow is arguably capable of being at his worse in 05 compared to one opening stage. And let's not forget that it's 05 where Shadow can potentially single handedly execute Eggman, something not even Sonic would do.
He's technically reviewed Sonic Colors 4 times. There was his video from 2010, the review on the DS version, his re-review, and his Sonic Colors Ultimate video.
The reference to the original Generations video, made me shed a little tear. Watched that when I was like 12. Now I’m 25 and I’m still here :’) Edit: the Chaos Island Music bit had me dying for a good few minutes and now I can’t unhear the sleepy section lol
I was roughly the same age as well. It's actually incredible that Johnny it's still doing UA-cam as quite a few other UA-camrs that I watched from the same time have either retired or become less relevant. Cobanermani456 immediately comes to mind. He used to cover Sonic Generations mod on such a regular basis, and his videos would get millions of views. As much as I would like to see him make a return, much like Shadow The Hedgehog, it's probably best the past stays that way.
I do think Chaos Island's remix is better than the original, but that's because I don't care for the non-Titan themes of Frontiers. It's why Chaos Island is the only stage where I completely swapped both tracks out for something better, namely Undefeatable for Act 1 and Flame Core - Volcano for Act 2.
4:05 I agree with this. I personally think Shadow the Hedgehog 2005 is awful, but the last thing I wanted is that Sonic Team pretended this game never happened and not continue the amount of plotlines the game had. And now Shadow Generations continues those plotlines after 19 years.
Yes! For how flawed that game was, the one thing it did really well is portray Shadow as a complex, deep sort of character with struggles and fears and confusion. He wasn’t just an edgelord, they showed Shadow having more depth than just being a rival for Sonic.
@gothicMCRgirl What you described was Shadow in SA2 and Heroes, Shadow in 05 is an arrogant, edgelord, over the top, poorly written version of the character that became the standard of edgy the hedgy we got in the 2010s.
@@manuelinacio4038 i completely understand the criticisms and everything like that, but idk it’s just a hell of a lot of fun. And also has my third favorite sonic OST (behind SA2 & CD japan
What’s hilarious is I glanced down at the comment that was showing up, which was yours, then thought “I wonder what he was doing at th-“ only to then glance back up mid thought to see Johnny throwing it back and I… idk what to feel about this comedic timing 😂😂
BTW the likely reason why it was called Sonic X Shadow Generations is because Sonic movie 3 in Japan is called Sonic X Shadow: Tokyo Mission, some brand synergy over back in Japan (especially since we're getting the movie skin and stage for Shadow Gens next month)
The lead-up to this game felt like the most confident Sega has been in a LONG while and it was totally warranted. Shadow Generations ROCKS!! GRAAAGHGGHGGH
9:47 Just to clarify for everyone, the leaderboards are still in the game! Only the 30-Second Trail mode was removed. But the Ranking Leaderboard is still in Sonic x Shadow, and it works the same way it did in OG Generations. I think Johnny might have just gotten confused when writing his script.
I think Radical Highway was used (thematically) because it was when Shadow was hellbent on revenge. It was introduced when Shadow was at his darkest. Even in Westopolis, Shadow was neutral in his approach.
24:10 Gerald says the places in white space could be places shadow had visited or will visit in the future. Since this games takes place before forces (meaning Shadow hasn’t gone through sunset heights at this time in the continuity) it can also be assumed Shadow will go to Chaos Island in a future game
@@smashmaster521 To be fair, The End mentioned "this incarnation" while fighting Sonic. Maybe there's a chance it'll also return in the future in a new form?
@CyColt I meant The End itself returning at some point, and Shadow getting a chance to fight it. I don't think The End and the Black Arms are connected? That said, I'd like to see Black Doom's reaction to Sonic's and Eggman's shenanigans while he was hiding on the Ark and in White Space.
He likely did to silence everyone whining that she'd censored...Me, I say she adjusted her outfit because she was tired of being cold all the time. Wonder what breed of bat she is?
@jokx4409 back when Johnny made his original SonicGenerations video, he had thrown a ps3 copy of Uncharted 3 onto his bed. Tiny little detail that shows how long it's been since he made that video lol
26:39 I cannot lie I’m absolutely baffled by this, metal overlord in this game is quite possibly my favorite fight in the whole series, and I think the Doom manta’s gimmick of only being able to turn left and right is creative and fun as hell to do, this is just, insane take to me I cannot for the life of me understand it
I personally feel the same way, it's a good fight but the surfboard has clunky controls and dealing damage to metal sonic is not as satisfying as the other boss fights are.
To be fair, the fight didn't click with me either until I played the Hard Mode version that actually forces you to properly engage with all the stage hazards, grind rail paths and contextual Chaos Control skips to achieve a good rank and shit. The normal variant is simply doesn"t ask much of anything from you in terms of difficulty and also goes down like, 2 minutes with minimum effort, so it doesn't surprise me that it didn't stick much for him on his first playthrough. It's very "whatever" when played like that, cool cutscenes and music aside.
The Doom Surf Manta did take me some time to get used to, but Metal Overlord was where it clicked since the fight was designed around it. I do wish it could Boost for that added speed, though.
Sonic x Shadow Generations is an amazing game. I especially love the stage and level design and how you're pretty much rewarded for going off the straightforward path to the goal in the form of a shortcut, a collectible, and/or just feeling like a total badass maneuvering through it smoothly. Honestly this is the first Sonic game where I noticed and appreciated the level design.
Pretty sure the reason that Radical Highway is focused on here is because that place is where Shadow's hatred for humanity started, and Black Doom keeps bringing him back to Radical Highway to torment him.
@@GenerationZ313 Reusing assets makes sense, because it cuts down on time, and in the case of Radical Highway, it really works out because of the theme. Sunset Heights and Chaos Island though, not so much. If there was going to be a Forces stage, it should've been Mystic Jungle. Ya know, the area where Shadow actually kicks the shit of of weak 'ol Infinite.
@@GenerationZ313 sunset heights makes complete sense as it's where shadow saves saves and met sonic in forces and it was his first level in episode shadow. Chaos island is the only case of reused assets
It just feels so good to finally have another Sonic game that I can wholeheartedly recommend not just to Sonic fans, but to anyone interested. There’s no moon-sized asterisk that comes with my recommendation like with Frontiers or most other 3D Sonic games, I can simply say “this game is great and you should play it”, and I couldn’t be happier about that. The fact that Shadow Generations comes with Sonic Generations, the other 3D Sonic game that I have no hesitation recommending to everyone, just makes the deal even sweeter.
Fun fact, that's why I got the game as my first Sonic game. People weren't up in arms for once, and the game was pretty polished. So I had a great time.
I completely agree with having to recommend Sonic Frontiers with a massive asterisks next to it. Both it and much of Sonic's entire library of games always seem to have something that stops them from just being something I can just recommend to anyone. Not Sonic Colors ultimate, not Sonic Adventure 2, and I could even make the excuse for Sonic Mania.
I'm an non-Sonic fan and even I enjoyed this game. Granted, Sonic Generations has always been my favorite Sonic game of all time and still is. But Shadow's Generations isn't that far behind. It's really good.
@@GenerationZ313 ever since sonic unleashed, doesn’t know how to make a game that’s full priced without padding. The reason is that the earlier sonic games are usually very short. Star fox has the same problem which led to zero.
It's kinda surreal how, after all these years, Johnny's still rocking the grey hat and hoodie combo since day 1. That's consistency you gotta give props to.
SEGA and Sonic Team really have knocked it out the park with Sonic X Shadow Generations. The marketing, the story, the gameplay, they really played their cards right this time around. I hope that they continue to improve this kind of formula from Shadow Generations in the future games. As Johnny stated, I'm excited to see the modding community cook with this game. Already found some awesome costume mods/character mods for Shadow.
What's awkward is that for the most part the dialogue changes in Sonic Generations were only made for the English dub, the Japanese audio is straight from the 2011 game so it's the same audio with way less accurate subtitles.
I played the game with Japanese audio, and the only change from the original Sonic Generations are the added lines when you free a character from White Space, and that Eggman got his lines redubbed, mostly likely due to legal issues related to the passing of Eggman's original voice actor, Chikao Otsuka. Otherwise, the game's completely the same in Japanese.
The English dub references are literally ALWAYS cringe, especially the ones he shoehorns his OCs into, and them going back and rewriting already existing game dialogue for no reason is extremely unnerving. What is the endgame in them doing it? Why do it AT ALL if it "isn't important" that it was changed? Surely, by that same logic, there isn't a reason to touch it; it "isn't important," after all, right?
I wonder if some of the hardcore fan reception would change in a more positive light if some of the characters from the comics would appear in the games? I have no doubt in my mind someone like Surge would explode in popularity the moment she's brought into the spotlight. Just see how early she was modded in the moment the game came out. And there's tons more characters I haven't mentioned.
My personal guess for the hate is that it's something akin to "It should've been ME, not HIM!" (AKA, jealousy) since before Ian Flynn got to write for the comics, he was just a Sonic fan like everyone else.
I'm sure other people said this too but the leaderboards aren't gone, Online Mode is still in the game. They just removed 30 Second Trials and now only included Ranking Attacks. And not only that, Shadow Generations has its own Online Mode with 2 different modes, Doom Wings On and Doom Wings Off. Playing all Online Mode levels adds another 42 levels to play and get a score on the leaderboards for. Fun fact about the Doom Moon (the weird sphere with eyes in White Space), it's modeled after a biblically accurate angel, look it up, you'll see the inspiration.
It’s insane that we went from the four year time gap from Lost World to Forces and the five year time gap from Forces to Frontiers to legitimately getting some of my favorite 3D Sonic games for three years in a row. Frontiers, Dream Team, and now this. Seriously, Sega and Sonic Team just decided to lock in and I’m overjoyed.
@@jaretco6423 The base game is good despite the rough edges and Cyber Space even if it takes time to click, especially now that you can inject life into the game with the Jukebox. The Final Horizon, however, can burn for the brutal difficulty spike that drags down the whole experience.
Learning how to speedrun Shadow Gens stages is the most fun I've ever had with speedrunning and maybe the most fun I've had with any Sonic Game period. Spear Glide go brrr.
I still haven't figured that out yet. I'm a Chaos Control bitch...Which is why I'm not the biggest fan of Radical Highway for locking my Chaos Control even after Black Doom's been defeated.
I wasn't expecting Chaos Spear of all things to be the power I use the most for traversal, but it's so fun just ripping through the air with those things.
What I like about this game is that it has 2 acts that both focuses on 3D and 2D level separately for Shadow's campaign. The 3D levels had no 2D segments, and it's vice-versa for the 2D levels. Can't wait for the Sonic 3 movie level coming soon.
I agree Gerald and Maria could've used some more screentime, but with this game, the journal pages and the animated prolouge, Maria's character has been done a world of favours, giving us an idea of what her relationship with Shadow was like and the kind of person she was. Makes Shadow's sadness over losing her makes a whole lot of sense.
The biggest Shadow Gens win for me is how much it builds upon Frontiers; if this is what SEGA's B team (I'm assuming, anyways) are producing, imagine how good Frontiers 2 is gonna be!
Kinda like how we went from Sonic Unleashed to Sonic Generations. Unleashed brought the Boost formula into the 3D community, but Sonic Generations perfected it by polishing it up more.
B Team? This is their A-GAME! Like, holy shit, Frontiers looks like a tech demo next to Shadow Generations! I should know, given that I tried playing the Cyber Space levels after playing Shadow Generations, and they didn't even come close to being as fun as Shadow's levels.
Good lord i KEEP forgetting how horrendously horrendous Rouge's voice sounds nowadays, god do i miss her (Insert Saxophone Here) 4Kids Voice... Either way great review as always fella 🤝🏻
@@Pearlmetheus Her voice actor is Karen Strassmann. She is most known for Kallen, from Code Geass. I personally think the four kids actor sounds too deep for the character, rouge is supposed to be 18.
The reason Black Doom keeps rehashing Radical Highway is in part because it’s shadow’s “green hill” but a narrative aspect I think you missed is that it’s due to it being the place where shadow’s story began for the players. It’s the place where he swore vengeance on the human race before tearing his way through human forces. Black doom is pulling shadow back to his darkest hour to turn him-a moment where he had nothing but anger, loss and fury in his heart. It’s a surprisingly thoughtful narrative choice Westopolis wouldn’t make sense because that’s the place where shadow began his journey of self discovery and independence from vengeance
Not just Finals Rush and Chase. ARK is where the Shadow rep comes in because there are elements from stages like The Fall and Lost Impact making the ARK a conglomerate level rather than solely the SA2 rep.
There are many things I am thankful for in my life. One of them is having an amazing UA-camr like you Johnny, creating content on things I really enjoy. Thanks so much for the great video and I wish you much support and happiness in the future. Happy Thanksgiving!

I had an opposite reaction to radical highway as the final stage, I had no idea it was coming. Being able to finally play a fully reimagined radical highway was nuts
12:05 At the same time if he did look like this in adventure 2, the confusion for sonic is much more sense why people think he was sonic...still happy with the design we got
To those who don't know who voiced Black Doom in this he's voiced by Ben Diskin, Yes the same Nigel Uno & Hogarth Pennywhistle "Hoagie" Gilligan, Jr AKA Numbuh 1 & 2 Codename Kids Next Door Ben Diskin. Also Mike Pollock did not voice Metal Overlord in the eng dub that was Ray Chase.
Glad to hear that you liked this one. Shadow Generations has quickly joined the ranks of the greatest games in this series for me. I honestly think that Sega could go all in on a sub series of Shadow spin off games at this point.
Fun fact: On one of those scenes Johnny was drinking his coffee I was also drinking mine and I literally held up my coffee and straight up said out loud "Cheers".
Great game, great way to reintroduce Shadow for newer fans and a much easier Platinum trophy compared to the original version. And there’s still the DLC coming up where you can play as Keanu Shadow! “Wake the fuck up hedgehog, we have a city to burn.”
Man that is one messed up family. A deranged scientist who made a deal with a demon, a giant lizard fighting his little brother who is a 3ft hedgehog created by that same demon, all for the sake of their big sister who has the sonic world equivalent of aids that got 86 by the army, a young friend who is willing to end the little hedgehogs life by joining the exact people who put the bullet in her back. Now that little hedgehog has to relive all of this while fighting and inherting his evil dads genses And that doesn't include the cluster Frack that is known as the Eggman.

I'll be honest, when I first heard Chaos Island Act 1, I was like "WTF is this garbage", but playing through it in Shadow Generations, it started to grow on me and has become one of my favorite Sonic songs of all time.
The build up in the stage remix, flows with the energy of the stage. It feels disjointed, and out of place on purpose. Almost as if your abilities tap into the environment as well. But the more you listen, it hits harder. Writing about the soundtrack, I am in love with the remixes. And not ashamed to admit it. Sure the genre may not be for everyone, but give it a chance
I originally found your channel during the lead-up to the original Generations. You were uploading gameplay of the levels that Generations was taking cues from.
I don’t know if this has been told to you, but there might be an actual reason why Radical Highway was used instead of something else. Black Doom was trying to mess with Shadow throughout the campaign, and he wanted Shadow to become his ultimate weapon to destroy the world. What better way then to remind Shadow of the time when he was most destructive. Like remember back in Radical Highway, Shadow was at his most violent. He just got released by Eggman and he knows that his best friend is dead. His: “I promise you… Revenge!” Is exactly what Black Doom wants. He was destroying cops, taking down G.U.N, all in the effort to destroy the world. And even though he helped stop the Biolizard in the Last Story, that’s the kind of weapon that Black Doom wants. Radical Highway is not only Shadow’s first level, but also the level to represent Shadow’s darkest hour. Shadow going through the level is him finally putting this phase of his life past him and moving forward. I do agree with you that we should have some Shadow the Hedgehog representation. It was a little jarring that there wasn’t a level from his own game but there was music that we could swap in to replace the music. Westopolis, Digital Circuit, Lethal Highway and Black Comet/Final Haunt would have been great levels to have. Hell, I’ll throw this one out there for games other than Forces/Frontiers, they could have used Asteroid Coaster. Yeah they would have needed a wisp power, but Shadow did make an appearance in the DS version of Colors, so I would have liked to see that level as well.
So does this mean Black Doom is strong enough to summon Mephiles at will? Power scalers better be taking notes, because this throws my continuity out the window!
No, because that wasn't Black Doom's doing. His revenge scheme coincided with the Time Eater incident, meaning Dr. Eggman is unwittingly responsible for bringing back Mephiles. Black Doom merely took advantage of the chaos to accelerate his plans.
The Uncharted gag callback made me so happy, I was 15 when the original Generations video dropped 13 years ago, I'm so glad I get to keep watching your videos
According to Ian Flynn most of the city stages from SA2 take place in different parts of Westopolis, Radical Highway included. And yes, I remember the game specifically saying it was in Central City at one point but whatever, that's what Sega wants now.

This just further begs the question of why there isn't any levels from Shadow's own game. If any game desperately needs it's own level to be represented by Black Doom, it had to be Shadow 05, a game where Black Doom can literally convince Shadow to side with him.
@@mikeanthony3300 Radical Highway is Shadow at his absolute most enraged - at this point in the story from his perspective shadow is like 15 minutes removed from the death of maria and wants humanity to die for their sins ( he is literally so apathetic towards humans he does nothing but stand in an empty room while the ark is falling towards the earth )
In westopolis and even the dark path in shadow the hedgehog he never really feels angry towards humanity - while black doom's influence is for sure corrupting him a lot of his motivation for the dark path is just " black doom will give me the secrets to my past!
I find it funny that this is technically the 3rd review Johnny has made on Sonic Generations.
Well, AVGN reviewed Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde 3 times, and The Completionist reviewed MegaMan X 3 times, so I guess it evens out🤷♂️
Now he just needs to re-re-review the Adventure games for consistency!
He's technically reviewed Sonic Colors 4 times. There was his video from 2010, the review on the DS version, his re-review, and his Sonic Colors Ultimate video.

As much as I would like to see him make a return, much like Shadow The Hedgehog, it's probably best the past stays that way.
damn we getting old
I do think Chaos Island's remix is better than the original, but that's because I don't care for the non-Titan themes of Frontiers. It's why Chaos Island is the only stage where I completely swapped both tracks out for something better, namely Undefeatable for Act 1 and Flame Core - Volcano for Act 2.
@@justasimplemanworkinghiswa1569 Welcome to my world.

I don’t care how shit Shadow 05 is, I will defend it to the end.
@gothicMCRgirl What you described was Shadow in SA2 and Heroes, Shadow in 05 is an arrogant, edgelord, over the top, poorly written version of the character that became the standard of edgy the hedgy we got in the 2010s.

BTW the likely reason why it was called Sonic X Shadow Generations is because Sonic movie 3 in Japan is called Sonic X Shadow: Tokyo Mission, some brand synergy over back in Japan (especially since we're getting the movie skin and stage for Shadow Gens next month)
A stage?? What kind of stage?
I think the more likely reason is X means "and" in Japanese titles.
@@ilytyypa Just came from the future, and it's the first area Shadow rampages in in the movie.
Yeah, he probably was thinking of 30-Second Trial
I think Radical Highway was used (thematically) because it was when Shadow was hellbent on revenge. It was introduced when Shadow was at his darkest. Even in Westopolis, Shadow was neutral in his approach.
That's another take I've heard and it's one that makes a lot of sense to me.
24:10 Gerald says the places in white space could be places shadow had visited or will visit in the future. Since this games takes place before forces (meaning Shadow hasn’t gone through sunset heights at this time in the continuity) it can also be assumed Shadow will go to Chaos Island in a future game
But why, though? The End was already dealt with by Sonic, so what's left for Shadow to do there?
@ There really is no reason, the game just gave us a hint for something that could happen in a future game or something canon to the games like idw

It was where he was at his most powerful.
Thematically, it makes sense, but much like the inclusion of Sunset Heights and Chaos Island, it appears to be a case of reusing assets.

Great to see Johnny reviewing Sonic again. Especially on Thanksgiving. It makes this day more better. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!

Shout-out to the Surge mod that gives her Vivian Reed as her VA.
@smashmaster521 oh yes! I like that mod! Can't wait to see the full version we the redone cutscenes with Surge!
Shadow Generations dared to answer the question of if you can say the word “sin” in a Sonic game with the utmost seriousness and not be made fun of.
What did you expect from a game featuring DA DEVIL from DA BIBLE?
I remember being here 13 years ago for the original Generations review. Time really does fly man.
Here's to many more great years
“I hope the Sonic 3 movie is good”
Johnny, you have no idea how good it is 😁
What's awkward is that for the most part the dialogue changes in Sonic Generations were only made for the English dub, the Japanese audio is straight from the 2011 game so it's the same audio with way less accurate subtitles.
I remember watching the original Sonic Generations 12 years ago, so to see this review 12 years later is so surreal, amazing, and nostalgic
I’ll never understand the Ian Flynn hate. I feel he’s helped lead to some of the best writing for the series, especially in the comics.
@@Dogan_TM those "OCs" are all great characters and perfectly legitimate additions to the franchise, cope and seethe
@@Dogan_TMWhen did he refer to his OCs?

Is Frontiers really that good? Cause honestly, I found that game kinda average.

Same! This should've been Classic and Modern Sonic's thing.
And then there's Radical Highway, which is purely 2D. If only it had Chaos Control.

Of all the things my soul needed to see, I think Johnny throwing it back is one of the most unexpected. Never change.
It’s a surprisingly thoughtful narrative choice
Westopolis wouldn’t make sense because that’s the place where shadow began his journey of self discovery and independence from vengeance
Sonic Generations was already a top-5 Sonic game but Shadow Generations made it even greater!
Not just Finals Rush and Chase. ARK is where the Shadow rep comes in because there are elements from stages like The Fall and Lost Impact making the ARK a conglomerate level rather than solely the SA2 rep.

I originally found your channel during the lead-up to the original Generations. You were uploading gameplay of the levels that Generations was taking cues from.
That intro bit is nostalgic as hell
I can't believe I've been watching this man for over a decade

As someone who has kept up with your work for over a decade and who has gotten very into XIV, this joke 9:52 made me laugh harder than you can imagine

According to Ian Flynn most of the city stages from SA2 take place in different parts of Westopolis, Radical Highway included. And yes, I remember the game specifically saying it was in Central City at one point but whatever, that's what Sega wants now.
