You and Kevin are literally making life living in California better lol! I was uncomfortable with the change I made gardening from Colorado to California....but so excited about gardening here with this long growing season! Red Bluff , CA and passion flower is budding like crazy! (Frederick)
@@dshe8637here in zone 8, it freezes sometimes in late winter. A freeze will kill passion fruit down to the ground, but a very mature established plant will usually just come back in spring.
When i used to do Amazon delivery, their was this house that had a small false with passion fruit vines woven through on both sides of the fence. It was so pretty
I got here from Epic Gardening to see the inside of the passion fruit teepee, but saw several of your other videos and immediately subscribed. Thanks for sharing
I love mine…. Grew about 320 in Oakland CA and made a fun “Passion Project” mock/cocktail drink mix for my bestie during Covid for her catering business side hustle
Lol i live in Jamaica a friend of mine has a Big mango tree but when you look at it doesn't look like a mango tree until you go under it you get two thing passon fruit and mango the passon fruit took over the whole tree❤
In 10b it grows really fast in the warmer months. Aggressively so 😂. I have one on a metal cattle panel archway I built here in San Diego and have to cut it back frequently to keep things from getting out of control but it's so pretty.
@@tyger4417My neighbor once had it growing on their fence and it so happens to spread on my side of the fence I never cut it because it was pretty and smell so good plus it was their fence even though by law I could have I just left it. Eventually, after some time and sharing of the fruit with neighbor etc he passed away and sold the house to the new neighbor down there any more pasdionfruit. I was thinking of growing my own but they do get aggressive. But I love the smell
Do snakes shelter once they become bushy? I really like how you made the vines with a little home inside. I would love to copy that because it looks pretty but I'm worried about snakes that might shelter as well. I hope no one will bash me for asking this.
How do you start it from seed?Seed?? I'm having trouble. I've done the napkin seed popping method and straight Sow. And so far I've had no success? Thank you
I get a glass jar with lid, fill some soil (1/3) then use boiling hot water to fill the 1/2 to over the soil level. Let it cool, keep the lid on but not too tight, put it up -side-down, let extra water leak out but not soil. Put the jar up right, place the seeds in, put the lid back on tight this time, place it somewhere partial shade but warm location. Label the jar what seeds are in, date of seeds sowing, seeds number. Mine growing many now and I am transplanting the stronger ones. I am in zone 6, I have tropical purple one and cold hardy maypop (American Passionflower).
Would you tell me the secret of growing passion fruits.I have 4 plants from seeds but after 2 years I still do not see any flowers what kind of fertilizer I should put on the soil. The plants have a lot of leaves and strong
Wee did harvist the purple passion frout an plenty big one's and we dit gif to nabers and frends we did freeze the passion friut pulp and best plant to have
Passion fruit is most sweet when its is so wrinkled you would think you’d need to throw it way. If its not fully shriveled up, it tends to be quite sour

Could passion fruit be grown in a large pot? I know this is a weird question, but my boyfriend is from Brazil and will be going to culinary school soon. We'll be living in an apartment with the two of us and my best friend, but I still want to grow some familiar plants for him to use in cooking :)
I dont like passion fruit but i like the leaves during winter the older leaves are more tastier during spring its the new leaves and also roasting the green and young fruits with sichuan pepper is more than wow
You can actually eat the leaves too, it's really tasty mixed with Grated coconut, onion, chilli peppers, salt and lime😊
Really 😮 is it eaten raw or is it cooked?
@@maukawahine8685 raw😊 like a salad of some sort
I didn't know you could eat the leaves thanks for sharing definitely going to try it
You talking about the young soft leaves correct? Mature leaves are hard stiff
@@maukawahine8685 I've eaten them all, not just young ones. We just cut them really fine like chiffonade
Plus the flowers are BEAUTIFUL and smell soooo good!
They are soo beautiful. The most exotic flowers I've ever seen
Mine has no smell but looks great...
I just planted a yellow passion fruit I got, and I hope it survives this winter. I planted like 30 of them just to make sure.
Whats the progress
Yeah progress?
Yeah.
Hope the silence doesn't mean something bad
They will probably have a passion kingdom once all those seeds begin popping up like popcorn! 😂

Red Bluff is a four season area :)
You will love the rural areas!
You could say it grows with a passion
Now I wonder if I'm in the right climate for passion fruit. Off to the mighty search engine I go.
Yes, me too. Can it cope with a bit of frost, i wonder?
Most likely it is suitable for where you live. It is native to NA and will grow pretty well anywhere South of at least the mason Dixon line area.
@@dshe8637here in zone 8, it freezes sometimes in late winter. A freeze will kill passion fruit down to the ground, but a very mature established plant will usually just come back in spring.
Its looks like it would be cozy to sit under it

That trellis looks fun to be in, but with these snakes in Florida....😂.
Ty for sharing this with us ...🦋
You can make tea from the flower petals. It is supposed to help you sleep.

Absolutely worth the real-estate, grat pollinator for your garden & the flowers are gorgeous❤
Dude that's an entire unit
It’s January here in south Texas and I just harvested about two tote bags full of the yellow fruit, my first time growing and oh my it’s so much! 😅
He said “renember”. And I’ll never forget.
I love mine…. Grew about 320 in Oakland CA and made a fun “Passion Project” mock/cocktail drink mix for my bestie during Covid for her catering business side hustle
Can you guys share how long does it take to actually produce fruit? I’m in zone 7A and I always wanted to grow one.
I really hoping it takes over our fence rather than the morning glory that’s there and chokes everything.
Well! Now I know I can add these to my garden bicket list! Always thought these were tropical climate trees.
Very helpful! Thanks for sharing this! 👍
Excited to try growing…thank you for the insights!
Wow that plant tent is really cool

It can take a couple of years to start fruiting. Flowers will appear within months or weeks of planting though.
mr beast be doing a passion fruit video
This is one of the plants at the top of list to put in our yard.
Delicious it's sour we are cooking the top leaves for food too it's good for diabetics 😊😊

Awesome bro thank you😌❤
Im growing some p. foetida thats native around here. The fruits not good eating, but the vines and flowers are so pretty.
Ants absolutely destroyed mine. Even ate the bark off the vine.
Do you have a video on that trellis? Looks awesome!
how long was the beast here in the ground?
I only have one stem, should I be pinching it out for it to grow more stems or just leave it to do it’s thing?
My step dad planted passion fruit and it does grow and produce like crazy. We've had to give some away with how much it produces
No chance here in UK, but fascinating. ❤
They are also native to the us and have very cool looking flowers
This can be a menace if you aren’t aware of their invasive growing pattern. I do love the flowers.❤
I have no problem with the audio volume. Check your devices, because I hear him just fine.
You forgot to mention the flowers smell amazing.
Nice, I will try to plant.
what kind of trelliss do you have for your passion fruit I wish to recreate the same thing ty
How long has that been in the ground?

My favorite fruit
Man wish I could grow more fruits. 5b sucks for that.
It would be nice if you included your location.
Where do you get the seeds at? I wanna plant my own I live in Louisiana. I can barely find them only found them once my mom said I can’t get them.
#4: if you're allergic to bananas, you likely are allergic to passion fruit, too. I learned the hard way. 😔
It grows wild around me and I just shared a whole bunch. Was literally at my fishing hole recently and they were falling around me 🎉

Whens the best season/months to plant them?
Maypops grow like a 'weed' here and I feed the vines to my chickens.
Next spring I'm planting them along the chicken pen to provide cooling & shade & food thru the summer months
The leaves & flowers gave medicinal properties too helping w insomnia and stress when used as a tincture.
What a great cubby house for the kids tho! I’ve watched my chicken jump in the air for a passion fruit leaf! 😂
I know which hen gets the lions share of the feed! That Buff(?) was gi-normous! Miss my Barred Rock that ate like Oprah now🥲
And the coyotes love it 😂
It is really strange that it fruits during winter. I have to cover mine for winter and go inside the cover to get the fruit.
Passion fruit is delicious 🤤

It's native and host plant to gulf fritillary butterfly!💜
Planted them in one spot, then had the not so bright idea of putting seeds i other corners of my garden and now its swarmed
Which type is this? And whats the coldest it can go
There is a bunch of wild passion fruit growing on my grandparents land
