    This was the point where Pete went from a good coach to a legend. MIchigan had given up 7 sacks all season long, and SC sacked Navarre 9 times. He was sending corner blitzes from outside the numbers and Michigan had no answers at all. These SC teams were lights out.

    Kerry Colbert=most underrated wide receiver in SC history.

    @Rob Robbins: yes, Arkansas in 2005 and 2006 and we blew them out both times. A very good Arkansas team that included Darren McFadden. In 2005, USC beat Arkansas 70-17. In 2006, USC, the visiting team, beat Arkansas 50-14. Arkansas would finish 10-4 and 7-1 in the SEC.
    Also USC beat auburn in 2002 and 2003, in which they shut out a top 10 ranked auburn at Jordan Hare. USC is 22-11-1 vs the SEC all time.

      USC owns everyone in the SEC except Alabama and Florida and are tied with South Carolina and LSU which USC is pretty much Alabama's bitch.

    That was a very respectable Michigan team. However, USC was just that much better. That was arguably the strongest defense of the Pete Carroll era. The signature play of the game: Keary Colbert making the-one handed catch with the Michigan DB hanging all over him - obvious pass interference, but Colbert still caught the ball, shrugged him off and walked backwards into the end zone. When stuff like that happens to your team, you aren't going to win. USC was that good.

      Not entirely Will. My Dad was at USC when Tommy Harmon and the Wolverines thrashed the Trojans 49-0 in the 1948 Rose Bowl.
      Schembechler schooled his student Larry Smith in 1989, 22-14. Michigan has been a very respectable program throughout its entire football history. Good luck in 2014. Never underestimate Mustelids. They're relentless and they bite hard.

      USC's 2008 defense was the best of the Pete Carrol era.

      Their defense was good I think the 08 defense for USC was better but the PAC-10 as a conference that year was weaker

    • @SportZFan4L1fe
      @SportZFan4L1fe 7 років тому +4

      How was the PAC 10 conference weak that year?
      PAC 10 Went UNDEFEATED (5-0) in bowl games.
      The FACT Is Espn has to make money from their sec baby and they didn't want to see USC SMASH on Tebow and the Gayters.
      PAC is a High Powered Offensive Conference and USC in 2008 help their opponents to 9 points a game including 3 SHUTOUTS and a STOMPING of #5 Ohio State 35-3.

    @Rich Robbins: also, the SEC dodged scheduling games against USC for a while. Don't get me wrong, the SEC is a very good conference but it typically schedules power puff OOC games. USC has NEVER scheduled a game against an FCS school. While I'm excited for the 2016 USC Alabama matchup, it won't be a good test. USC will still rebounding and rebuilding from loss of scholarships and won't be back to their 85 number until 2017 or 2018

      @jayp675 9 років тому +1

      You are wrong about 2016 still being a rebounding year. We will be pretty close to full strength and our star players right now will be juniors/seniors.

    USC was the best team that year, our boys in Blue could have taken Oklahoma I think. That was so stupid that they still got in (at #1 no less) after getting exposed 35-7 at the hands of Darren Sproles and KSU.

    Geez, the Trojans were a sack machine -- what a defense!
    Lendale always had the nose for the endzone, it was an exciting time for Troy. And Credit Carroll for overcoming a massive pushback from many who didn't want him and creating the NCAA's checkpoint for getting to the national championship -- you had to beat the Trojans.

    Nothing is better than USC vs. Michigan in the Rose Bowl....
    USC killed Michigan this game, I think they had like 100 sacks...

      it would've been a great game especially since that championship game would've been in New Orleans, practically a home game for LSU. Anywhere else, I'd pick the Trojans. Oklahoma should've never been in that game. It should've been USC vs LSU for the title

      would've trashed any sec team; the sec was carroll's bitch, much like helton is now the sec's bitch.

    I want to know when the last time an SEC team beat USC

    • @bamaczar09
      @bamaczar09 9 років тому +4

      When was the last time USC played an SEC school ? Arkansas in 2006 ? They open with Alabama in 2016 so we'll get a pretty good idea of what USC is made of then.

    • @Heem_B
      @Heem_B 9 років тому +11

      Rob Robbins The SEC stopped scheduling USC because of how SC would embarrass SEC schools. So it's the SEC's fault that USC hasn't played an SEC school since '06.
