Only game that I’ve seen that lived up to all the hype and more
The hype
The announcers
The atmosphere
The teams
The coaches
The programs
The stadium
The Star power
The “Signature moment”
This game had the “IT” factor
Best game I’ve ever seen
eh its way up there in my book, i believe super bowl 42 is the greatest football game ever played
@@cryogames6575 we’re talking college
As an Irish fan there was plenty of good games this year and this is number one all time for me I college… the same year usc vs irish that’s top 10 for me even tho the irish lost the game still the greatest usc vs irish game I’ve ever seen ! BUT this one is number one all time !! Miss these days !!
@@thrill_lords8409 people tend to forget about that game due to the USC and Texas game, but I still remember where I was and what I was doing when that game came on….If it wasn’t for Tex-USC that game probably has the #1 spot
@@D3zii1 I kno, that was a back and forth match !! My emotions were up in down and I was 11 years old ! That game had my emotions going like a roller coaster… Texas wanted usc to win that game.. At the time I was pissed that they lost! But now looking back I’m happy they did the rose bowl that year was the best college football game I’ve seen EVER! The back and forth so many momentum plays and it switching to team to team it was incredible.. I didn’t appreciate the game now as I did when o was a 11 I did appreciate it don’t get me wrong but I appreciate it in a better light !!
As a Trojan this game still makes me sad 😭 our dreams of three peat was ended by Vince Young .
Definitely best college football game ever .
My dad had this on VHS. He was a UT alumni. As a kid I got excited watching Reggie Bush!
im actually so proud to say i watched this whole game LIVE! family friends graduated from U of T and gave me song longhorns cookies which i displayed while wearing my longhorns t-shirt, hoodie, hat, football, and many more longhorns shirts strewn around the room. absolutely incredible
Greatest game with one of the greatest announcers Keith jackson!!
Greatest college football game all time 💯💯 nothing will ever top this
So many stars in this game..
Vince Young was a god
usc was riding a 34 game win streak from 2003 to 2006 they were #1 for 3 straight years and had back to back hesiman trophy winners on the same offense, including being the 2X defending national champion. USC was the only school in the bus era to almost win 3 straight national championships. USC was beating Texas in the 4th quarter 38-26 with 5 minutes to go players and staff were already celebrating on the sidelines and calling usc 3pete university. USC was being very cocky against Texas in the first half with the fumble etc. If usc had 1 minute left to play things would’ve been different Texas couldn’t stop usc offense in the 2nd half.. I blame Pete on the loss just like they they did when he lost against the patriots. He made some horrendous play calls.
I remember seating on the edge of my couch and my dad screaming.
R.I.P pops
Did he die of ligma
Man Jamaal Charles, Reggie bush, Vince young, leinhart, lendale white, several Thorpe award winners, 46 future NFL players in this game. What a championship game this was. Two of the all time great teams going at it. Lived up to the hype and more. Best college football game ever.
Ramonce Taylor. Don't forget about him. If not for Vince young, he would have been the story of that offense.
Lendale White was beast mode in college
Can't help but feel like Michael Huff got screwed being drafted to The black hole.
Its funny when you look back at this game, it really didnt produce alot of top nfl talent. Most of the guys who were drafted didnt do much. Compare it with recent title games like LSU/Clemson or Bama/Clemson where there are multiple starters or even multiple future hall of famers playing
@@jrad410clay Matthews III was in this game. You’re out of your mind.
The greatest game ever played in college football
Well... There was 1937 Army vs Notre Dame 😂
Idk about that
Georgia vs Oklahoma 2018 CFP
Yeah this game and the 2016 fsu vs michigan game were the best two games ive ever watched
2007 Tostitos Fiesta Bowl, Boise State over Oklahoma and this are prolly 1 2 for me
The best college football game of all time. It might even be the greatest football game ever. Everyone who watched college football knew these two teams would play for the national championship even before the season started. And what a championship game it was. Just unreal.
i like Georgia vs Clemson more in somr way s but if we talking generally BSU beat ok 43-42 in ot takes it
@@shawnschaitel838 This was a year in the making when Texas won the rose bowl and USC won the natty the year before. Not to mention true superstar talent with 3 Heisman candidates highlighting the talent in this game. Personally I like Boise State vs Oklahoma, but this SC/Texas game was the Ali vs Frazier of college football. So much buildup and it lived up to the hype!
@@dustin8320 i hate to break it you both the heisman trophy and college football polls are scams and anyone who believes there credible for anything is a delusional nutcase that needs not only meds but to be locked up for the safety of other
@@dustin8320 the reason they are scams is because there always bias to the big schools especially the polls and the reason the heisman is a scam is that while they say it about crowning the best player in CFB and while non power schools FBS have a chance at winning it no one outside a power 5 + nd and in the future power 4 + Notre dame FBS team will win it ever
thats while this game while it sounds great on paper is among the biggest scam games in the history of college sports
most people won't talk about the fact the current CFB PO system was design by the power confrence to prevent a TCU or BSU situation where both teams are ranked so high that if it was for a few polls and pollsters they would have been in the NC game the years TCU beat wisconsin in the rose and the year the BCS people intentional manipulated the polls to make 3rd ranked BSU play 6 ranked TCU in the fiesta to prevent possible BCS busters
if this expansion goes through ots going to be so heavily weighed to the power schools that pretty much all the schools not in those conference would be almost better off dropping down to FCS
and people want to talk about the fact the NCAA could fix this they can't in fact this tv money deal scotus and the recent scotus deal of amateurism largely destroy most any regulatory powers they have in fact the NCAA is so powerless now that 4 of the power 5 schools the PAC 12 joined in support later because they had no choice threatened to leave the NCAA altogether and create there own AA last year if they didn't allow fall sports during covid last year which if happened would have destroyed most of the value of the NCAA basketball tournament both men's and women's
the simple fact is college football is rigged and this game is among the biggest rigged games in history
What DA? Remember this is just college football. Don't even compare to NFL aka the pros.
both these teams are so fucking stacked! Everyone was out there playing their hearts out
This was the greatest football game that has ever been played and I don’t think anything may ever top it. USC was on a 34 game win streak going for 3 straight national titles which is impossible and unheard of in football. Two Heisman trophy winners and possibly the most dominate college football team that has ever been put together.
Texas was also undefeated that year and dominated every game they played. There only close game was Ohio state who also had a championship roster that year and would be in the championship the very next year. Vince Young at the time was not only considered the best player that year but many were saying he was possibly the greatest college football player of all time. The fact he didn’t win the Heisman that year really showed how great of an all time run USC was on. The 05 Texas team is like the 95-96 Chicago bulls with Jordan. They had the best player of all time and they were just better than everyone else and it wasn’t close.
Never before and never again will we see two teams that great and that dominate head to head. You had the greatest team of all time vs the greatest player who ever played. The hype, the announcers, the crowd, no social media, and it was in the Rose bowl the pinnacle of college football. The game not only lived up to the hype it exceeded it. 4th and 5 the game on the line you can’t write a more story book ending. Once in a lifetime.
19 lsu team was like the 17 warriors, better than the 96 bulls and 05 texas
@@DMkizzy facts
That lsu team barely beat an avg Texas team by 7 pts that yr. No way they beat 05 Texas!
Thank you some one who gets it
@@DMkizzy 19 LSU is definitely up there! They did give up quite a few points that year to some inferior squads. The thing with 05 Texas and even 05 USC was the defense was just as dominant as the offense.
The 17 Warriors is a good comparison cause it just depends on what type of rules you are playing with.
The amount of talent on the field that day is astounding.
EVERY national championship should be held in the Rose Bowl. So iconic.
It's probably too far for two SEC teams to travel to every year.
I was hoping you could answer: Why wasn't Bush's lateral fumbled ruled an incomplete forward pass? Did they just not review it? He threw it from the 20-21 and it hit the other USC player at the 18. It wasn't even close to a lateral.

RAD story mate! 😎
That's a badass way to be introduced to a new sport
Just seeing this comment - who’s your favorite college football team now? This is a great story.
It's crazy how destiny lead to these two teams playing this game, and how split down the middle everything was. The teams were two juggernauts battling in a heavyweight fight. The fans were split right down the middle. Dan Fouts was completely west coast. Keith Jackson was straight southern. It's so beautiful how elements in the world created such a mesmorizing, unforgettable moment in time. Wish I could go back.
This game was better than the Super Bowl honestly 🏈🌹
So many stars in this game wow. Everyone talking about Bush back then but Jamal Charles was like the best RB in NFL after this game. That Texas DL was nasty big and good

As a Longhorn fan that comes back to watch this every couple years, it still gives me anxiety watching near the end of the game even knowing what the outcome is. This game was that good. Best I have seen in my life.
2 things I'll never get over lol . Vince's knee still looks down and why oh why reggie did you try and lateral man 🤦♂️
They gave usc a td when lienart was talked before the endzone. So they got their points back for the knee pitch.

These teams have the most swag I’ve ever seen in my life.. so intimidating
They did, both teams had players that were just as famous and star power as NFL stars. I've never seen two college teams with such fame before. @@nicholaswoods4055 yes but I'm talking about 2 teams on that level playing against each other. Miami was alone in their star power that year, plus alot of their star power was young and not at stardom yet in their best year.
That sure was a GREAT game! I wanted Texas to win, but I didn't think they would there near the end. But Vince Young was flawless as he led the final drive to the game winning touchdown.
In my opinion, this is still the greatest college football game I've ever seen (it had it all - talent all over the field, lead changes, a late comeback, amazing plays, etc.). A close second would be the 2017-18 Rose Bowl when Georgia beat Oklahoma in 2OT. And not that it matters, but I legit think this past season's divisional playoff game between the Bills and Chiefs was possibly the best NFL game ever (42-36 OT win for the Chiefs). An improbable comeback and HUGE plays made on both sides all game long!!
Still can’t believe they never reviewed this play. 🤣 6:55
It worked out as usc was given a td for a non td with that Leinart play.
Keith Jackson calling the game just makes this game so much better
I hate Texas with a passion...but this game was the ultimate of media playing favorites for USC and getting their just desserts when they didn't win.
As a Longhorn I appreciate what you said about the media. As far as hating Texas with a passion, there are probably therapists who can help. Try eating oranges as a starter.
@@redshark9537I am a longhorn fan and this is hilarious😂😂
I remember the media and fans being so annoying. Calling usc the greatest college team of all time, all season. Acting like Texas had no chance, acting like USC smoking OU the year before proved anything even though OU is notorious for becoming trash in championships, and even today in playoffs lol
Personally, this was the most exciting football game I've ever watched. Pro. or Collegiate.

@@TJ-bk9vf not at all. Some of the greatest national championship games have occurred since 2015. Some of the sport’s most iconic games have occurred since 2013 like the Kick 6 and Michigan/Mich St 2015 let alone three programs breaking their 35+ year national championship droughts in Auburn, Clemson, and UGA since 2010. Then factor in some of the best heisman campaigns in history in the last decade.
Hate to break it to you but this is a sport of peaks and valley’s among its best programs. Always has been. Blue bloods/national powers and their millions of fans are why this sport is popular. Every decade, a few blue bloods stay at the top. Think Miami’s dynasty and Penn State’s dominance in the 1980s, think Florida State and Nebraska’s dominance in the 1990s, think USC, Ohio State, and Oklahoma’s dominance in the 2000s. Alabama, Clemson, and Ohio State’s run in the 2010s is no different. Football literally is blue bloods and upsets. It’s the entire concept of the rankings.
Either way, this sport is popular because of the rivalry games, upsets, ranked matchups, heisman races, rose bowl, tradition etc. A few teams at the top every year has never diminished any of what encompasses the lifeline of the sport as a whole. That’s why stadiums will be packed on opening week

Such a shame Vince young’s game didn’t transfer to the nfl. Dude could have been unreal
Honestly I think he would've done fine but unlucky for Vince he got Jeff Fisher.
Yea man I watched a documentary about that and it explains the back story.
Basically Vince was a somewhat introverted hometown kid. And the ONLY reason he declared for the NFL was because Houston Texans had the #1 pick and he had friends there that promised to pick him.
But on draft day they went with someone else and Vince went to the Titans, who had Jeff Fisher and their new OC was from USC. So he went to a team he didnt expect or like, and was coached by a man who was salty af about the championship game
To be fair, he was highly successful when you consider that not only was Jeff fisher his coach, but Jeff fisher hated young and purposely tried to get young to fail. But young would pull out fourth quarter wins by doing his own thing. Which ticked the dumb coach Fisher off even more.
Young's throwing motion was such a mess.
