In my opinion, this is still the greatest college football game I've ever seen (it had it all - talent all over the field, lead changes, a late comeback, amazing plays, etc.). A close second would be the 2017-18 Rose Bowl when Georgia beat Oklahoma in 2OT. And not that it matters, but I legit think this past season's divisional playoff game between the Bills and Chiefs was possibly the best NFL game ever (42-36 OT win for the Chiefs). White was still tearing them apart. i grew up a Horns fan but USC was equally loaded and the White/Bush tandem legit scared me. the momentum swings and eventual comeback of this game were nerve wracking, even as a kid I knew it was special. they had Ferrell and McConaughey filming game intros for christ’s sake, insane hype. ending on a play like that and the storybook shot of Vince with all the confetti is just too good. I still come back to it year after year. football perfection.
This is as close as it gets to heaven for a college football fan
I think if reggie didn't do that Bone 🦴 Head play then sc goes up 14-0 and we would have won the game! The final would have been sc 42 Texas 41
i watched this game when i was 12 years old as a die hard Longhorns fan. Parents let me stay up late to watch it. and still holds up as the greatest game I've ever seen college or pro
im actually so proud to say i watched this whole game LIVE! family friends graduated from U of T and gave me song longhorns cookies which i displayed while wearing my longhorns t-shirt, hoodie, hat, football, and many more longhorns shirts strewn around the room. absolutely incredible
An improbable comeback and HUGE plays made on both sides all game long!!
That sure was a GREAT game! I wanted Texas to win, but I didn't think they would there near the end. But Vince Young was flawless as he led the final drive to the game winning touchdown.
As Kid and USC fan at 12 years old this game broke my heart but it definitely was the best game ive ever seen
SC wins this game with modern officiating.
@@PrivateSmiles and Im confident that if both teams played again for example a week later that USC would’ve won.. the defensive coordinator should have adjusted and put a spy on Vince Young..
@@esaiasoifua6016 Texas still had Jamaal Charles, are y’all crazy😂😂
@@ScottieDrippen and? Vince young literally killed us with his Legs if he didn’t then USC would have won, That SC team could’ve beaten you in so many ways, vince young had basically the perfect night, video game type performance and they basically won at the buzzer, not taking anything away from them they were victorious but That usc team was still better imo
same here. my mom yelled at me cuz I was stomping my feet😂
These teams have the most swag I’ve ever seen in my life.. so intimidating
They did, both teams had players that were just as famous and star power as NFL stars. I've never seen two college teams with such fame before. And they were not playing just to get to the nfl, they were playing for their schools, both teams had star players that were committed and loved their schools.
@@thecensoredmuscle563 only other team with as much swag and power was 01 and 02 Miami
@@nicholaswoods4055 we can add 2019 LSU to this pantheon of “swagged out” teams
@@nicholaswoods4055 yes but I'm talking about 2 teams on that level playing against each other. Miami was alone in their star power that year, plus alot of their star power was young and not at stardom yet in their best year.
The greatest college football game I’ve ever watched
My all time favorite college football game to watch. This was one of the greatest games played between the 2 teams and I remember watching this game when I was younger
Great efforts by both teams but a better performance in a national championship game by Vince Young the greatest this man was a beast. Shot out to both teams well played and thank you for giving us a game never to forget..
Vince Young played the best game that i have ever seen a QB play.
I watched this game as a kid, and still remember so much of it. Definitely the greatest college football game I've ever watched.
Reggie's dive at 12:55 is still so insane to me to this day, he was just on another planet athletically than the rest of the guys on the field. Before he even does the dive, there's 3 guys with an angle on him that he just burns too - unreal.
Same! My dad was a UT alumni and had this on VHS. I saw this as a kid and wanted to be like REGGIE BUSH!
your channel is the GOAT... i haven’t seen this high quality of this game on here
Keith Jackson calling the game just makes this game so much better
This a classic that 4th quarter back and forth was crazy and let’s not forget all the future draft picks in this game
In SOI Hearing all the Texans and Cali boys going back and fourth I’ll will always remember
I was only 6 when this was played so i didn’t really watch it during the time but just from hearing stories and watching film it’s most definitely the greatest college game ever played 😭
I was turning 20 the day of the game
Best college football game I’ve ever seen!!
I remember where I was at, who I was watching it with & watching it 17 years later it still gives me chills. This game is timeless the true definition of an instant classic.
6:45 Jamaal Charles was so damn good
I met Coach Brown when I worked at The University of Texas. Super nice guy.
the best college championship ever. both teams were stacked with talent and coaching. the most evenly matched teams in history. i watched it and saw my longhorns get the crazy victory. what a game for the ages!
2 things I'll never get over lol . Vince's knee still looks down and why oh why reggie did you try and lateral man 🤦♂️
They gave usc a td when lienart was talked before the endzone. So they got their points back for the knee pitch.
Greatest game of collegiate football ever. Hands down.
Hello from england, knew this was gonna be a special game , still have on vhs and transferred to dvd, and as a mpeg file on hard drive, so lucky to have followed college foot ball here in the uk since 1984
The 2020 matchup was also exciting. I hope this becomes a yearly matchup.
I don’t know why I always watch replays of this game. Saddest day of my life!
Because it was the best! Regardless who won!
I don’t remember a game ever feeling bigger. The hype. The packed stadium.
What a game probably the best college championship game I’ve ever watched
I still get nervous when I watch this game in 2021.
Vince Young will always be legendary for this game 💯 what a moment in college football history this game was
Personally, this was the most exciting football game I've ever watched. Pro. or Collegiate.
Proud to be a subscriber
I love your videos
Greatest football game of all-time
People don’t realize the classic respectful celebrations by the players during the biggest game of all time. Today we got players celebrating after every play lmao.
5:50 one of the greatest interceptions ive ever seen.
ND fan here. I witnessed the Bush push game in person. My seats were at the goal line 5 rows up from the end zone it happened. Most devastating loss ever but was the best game I've ever witnessed. This game tops that by a mile. Greatest game ever!
Still can’t believe they never reviewed this play. 🤣 6:55
It worked out as usc was given a td for a non td with that Leinart play.
That Reggie bush lateral fumble at the beginning had me cringing 😂😂😂
The play by play and commentary of this game is fantastic.
It's been said before, but it deserves to be said over and over!!! The greatest college game ever played! Thank you, Texas, and USC
The first 43 seconds.. has something amazing. Even though he got crushed, that spin move to stay up.... If completed, would have been legendary.
reggie bush and lendale are a dream running back combination. crazy how good they were together
I was sick as a dog, but I was at my Grandma’s house and she let me watch this game no matter how late it went, I remember screaming my heart out when VY scored that 2 point conversation! So thankful I got to watch this game live
I was there we were in the USC end zone section beyond awesome game 🤘 fight on 🏈✌️✌️ two of the greatest football teams! When college football ruled! Fight on ✌️✌️🏈🏈🏈
1st lateral at 3:30
2nd lateral at 6:55
Man did this game live up to the hype I remember pacing back and fourth like 1am on a school night my mom was pissed the next day that I stood up so late on a school night it was worth sleeping during my 1st 2 classes lol
Greatest football game ever played.
I remember watching this game at a neighbor's house with my dad and brother. Good times!!!
Last game Keith Jackson ever called, legendary
I'm a lifelong 30 year Bama fan who lives in Tuscaloosa. But this is the game I always say was the best game ever. 10% of the time I will say Boise State vs Oklahoma.
I went to basic training this day. I’m from Texas but my family literally from LA and lives right by the coliseum.
I have to watch this at least once a year, Vince Young is one of the college GOATs along side Reggie Bush. They both made every game they played in exciting to watch, and they were just 20 year old kids at the time. Absolutely amazing.
Epic rose bowl that Georgia vs Ou was a classic too
SC was in their way to going up14-0 and he made that bone headed play. I truly believe that was the difference
I remember every moment of this game…I was 14? And all the ups and downs…momentum changes…big plays…man this whole season (as a Texas fan) was the perfect season
I was 14 in LA USC Fan, played pop Warner,we were devastated.
@@0._9_.0 lol damn…well yall had two great years before that so I guess there’s that 😬
The best football game I’ve ever seen. This cropped version doesn’t do it justice, unfortunately. Literally cried when Vince Young scored at the end. 9/10 times, that play doesn’t happen in a score. He, almost single-handedly, willed that huge underdog TX team to take down the giant, 34 game winning streak USC team.
Still breaks my heart to this day 🤦🏽♂️
🍇🍇🍇mines too
I grew up in Los Angeles during the Fabulous Fifties ,and was S C Bound, But the Marines took me in 1965 ,right out of High School, I became a Texan after the Marines, discharged Me ,and Longhorn Fan ,During Troy Akmans ,Quarterback days ❤ John Barnett, thanks for these memories ❤❤❤ 6:44 Semper Fi
This is the Greatest CFB game ever played.
Argue with a wall
This game and 2016 clemson vs alabama... best games ever played... all guts and all the glory
thank you for finally dropping this amazing game
This felt more than a football game lol
i’ll never forget where i was , in like 6th grade , everyone sitting in the living room at my friends house. lol
The end with Vince with the confetti is still the most iconic moment
16:12 the best game winning crowd reaction i have heard at college in a long time spine tingling
Im from Texas, lived in L.A. so torn but the Greatest of Times... went home for Christmas came back to L.A. on a plane full of Burnt Orange going to this game
This game popping up in my Algorithm 2025🔥🔥 I was 7yrs old when this game was played
That one hurt 😢 Vince Young stabbed a dagger 🗡️ into LA and SoCal that day. That still hurts.
