To be fair, most coaches are judged by how their players do. You can’t have high quality mics on every practice or timeout, so the teams performance is pretty much the only way to judge a guys coaching.
Bari is definitely poised for a most improved type of season this year. He dominated Summer League and I expect a lot of that to carry over to the regular season,
They need to be careful on how they extend JG and/or KPJ imo. Both have potential but take away a lot of touches and make some bad decisions on the court. Jabari and Sengun offer more upside, complement each other, and are easier to build around. Obviously they'll be RFA at the end of rookie deals and so you want to keep them but giving them max is probably a bad idea.
He was the projected 1st overall pick all pre-draft for a reason. Can't wait until Udola gets these boys clicking. Houston gonna have a chance to add some star talent soon. I think he should be the young guy they hold onto
@@joelembiid1295 in this case it does. Green has all the requisite skills for his bag, he just has a low IQ on when and how to use them. You are using a false comparison with Poole-Haliburton. Hali shoots, dribbles, and passes better than Poole. And he has a better IQ.
What I’d most like to see is Sengun/Jabari/Tari/AT/FVV lineups. If Tori’s shooting improvement holds getting the most BBIQ on the court paired with energy will keep this offense moving intelligently & with pace.
Even after the draft and FA I still 100% think Udoka was the best offseason addition for the Rockets. It's difficult to put into words just how absolutely terrible Silas was as a head coach and how he consistently misused every player on the team
silas was such a stinker of a coach lol, as far as x and os goin from silas to udoka is prob the biggest upgrade this offseason, he also has a real pg now so he should have some better looks and jus easier offense in general, in summer league was he was clicking tho.. he wasnt hittin those shots last season, hand in his face stepbacks, i think hes gonna have a big year fr, confidence goes a long way as well, he looks good rn
Jabari will be key to this team so they have to get him working. Thompson and Green will be a hyper athletic backcourt but that won’t work without outside shooting. If anything they need at least another starter calibre three point shooter to get the best out of the backcourt.
First off Houston got too many young guys that it gotta focus on Udoka focus is on turning Sengun to a power forward and acquiring a big center like lopez
After the Rockets trade Jalen Green to the Clippers then they can get the needle moving with this Houston team, Jabari n Sengun should be the #1 n #2 options with Van Vleet n KPJ setting them up and scoring their points within the system for this team to become a playoff team. Y'all don't think they drafted Amen Thompson for a reason . A taller, faster, bigger player with the same skill set as Jalen Green....
Uh don’t recall Jabari ever being good at making his own shot even at auburn he was never really that guy. He was a good spot up for sure. You can’t bring him to the NBA and expect him to start creating his own shot when he’s never done that stuff
I think under Ime, if Green doesn't show signs of defense or better playmaking for others, he will no longer be the leader of the Houston Rockets. He can give some good scoring outputs, but he's not effective. JSJ, on the other hand, I can see being a 2nd or 1st option in the upcoming years. He's a pretty good defender, he should be able to find more comfort scoring and picking his spots. He has potential to be a modern day KG, if used correctly.
I would go a step further. If Green doesnt fall in line and Amen Thompson proves to be more effective they could trade Green while he still has high upside.
@@williamwoods2151 Yea for sure. I dont think he will start right away but at some point he is gonna take a starting spot and not give it back from someone
@Shortballa11 I think both the Thompson brothers have massive potential. I dont think Ausar will stay in Detroit unless he can become a 3 or they trade Cade or Ivey which I can't see. But Amen I can see taking the PG spot. I can't see him as a 3 and he's not a 2 but Fred can be and Jalen.
It is disgusting how ignorant people are. Especially with the lazy take that silas was the reason jabari didn't do amazing right out of the gate. And misconstruing comments, and providing they didn't actually watch the games. The biggest reason jabari struggled was because everyone around him was also too young. And jabari was physically too weak early on. Coaching is being way too overemphasized, when the biggest difference is going to be the players themselves. And their GM stone not screwing them over. Both silas and udoka run the same type of offense. As a coach the biggest actual advantage udoka has besides reputation, is his voice. Actual schematic capability silas didn't get to do much. Because the players' development of their weakest skills was their primary focus.
Silas is soft AF. Yes he is a saintly person, good human being, but that softness destroyed Rockets youth movement. He never gave accountability and never confronted young players. He's too nice to be a Coach, he just lets whatever happen and smile at it. The funniest thing is Detroit Pistons hired Silas in their rebuilding phase. Very Pistons decision-making right there. Maybe they wanna tank the next 10 years.😂🤣
I've been saying that all year and I'm a Laker fan. Rockets Front office is TRash. That crap offense Silas was running was horrific. His Father was a great coach. He should never coach again.
how is the front office trash? and just because silas was a horrible head coach doesn’t mean he should never coach again. he’s still a good assistant coach.
He’s young, has good shooting skills and defensive upside both on the court and in terms of size and length. I think that even if he doesn’t blossom into a star, I’m not gonna wade into that, I would hope that he can develop into a good role player.
Wtf you mean he has clutch genes like Robert Horry. He is like a PF version of mini-KD. His potential is high AF and he even was projected Top 1 pick, Magic just pulled a plot twist. Jabari shouldve been 1st pick but Silas was trash and didnt develop Jabari at all, he made Jabari a catch and shoot corner guy. Now everyone saw in Summer League he developed play making and handles as he shouldve rookie season, league fckd now he is under Udoka. Jabari's defense is what made him projected 1st pick, his D is even above Chet and Paolo. Now he will show why under an actual Coach. If you see their Summer games clips theyre already starting the angry trash talk era, theyre on a mission this year. Their defense will be intense and it all depends on Jabari evolution.
