Who ever made the comment about the checkerboard, you did not make it for them anyway! I have been doing woodworking for 50+ years. I used to play billiards a lot. I decided to make a cue stick case from a single oak 2 X 4 . I carefully cut the 2 X 4 apart and removed the inside. I lined the cavity with felt. Made a top that had a wood spring latch that snapped into place. I had fun making it. I did not pattern it off anything I had ever seen. When I walked into a pool hall it looked like I had an oak 2 X 4 in my hand. Needless to say no one wanted to argue with me. It protected my cue stick, it was one of a kind, it made a statement. Later I engraved my name in the side. By some people standards it was crude, but I liked it. When I pickup a piece of wood I see a finished project and/or idea. Keep "Creating things".

I have been building Adirondack chairs for many years. Initially I used those 5/4 Cedar deck boards but I found them to be too heavy and too expensive, so I switched to 4/4 pine boards. Pine boards were mostly used in the original Adirondack chairs where most were painted. Since I moved to Colorado I have discovered the beautiful blue stain Beetle Kill pine which I use exclusively now. I finish the chairs with a cocktail consisting of equal parts Boiled Linseed Oil, Mineral Spirits and oil based Polyurethane. Thanks for sharing this build with us.

Ken: I love your adaptation of the Adirondack Chair Bar Stool. Having made twelve regular Adirondack chairs for family and friends over the years, using Norm Abram's "New Yankee Workshop" plans, I have only one minor suggestion for greater arm support. Add a small cedar right angle bracket under the front of each armrest attached to the outside of each front leg to give greater support to the front of each armrest. This will avoid possible splitting over time. I would also suggest using stainless steel screws throughout.

Yum, western white cedar for the build! I'm sorry anyone would call you a "butcher!" I thought you did a beautiful job on the chessboard! I love that roll away planer! Kia looks so happy playing with her toy! No chicken sounds. Dancing the night away! Pocket hole jig for the cross pieces. That does look like a nice day Ken. I like the spacer idea and the longer screws should hold it together better. I like how you put the bottom board at an angle to hold the upright slats for the back of the chair. I loved how you used Chad's trick for drawing the arc. Nice back supports! I like the way you did the seat for the chair. That looks beautiful Ken! You should be on the beach! Nice front seat piece and the arm rests are beautiful! I like the way you rounded those arm rests. I think you did great with the 5 degree angle for the seat and 15 degree angle for the back. I love your design. Thanks for this video Ken!

I built directors chairs, bar chairs deck chairs etc for 15 years the Kreg fastening system won’t hold up to the demands people put on chairs. Not dissing you just an observation. Full tenons with locking pins drilled through the tenon was about the only thing that could take a 250lb ass wriggling and tilting the chair back and forth. Anyhoo always liked watching your vids keep em coming cheers from Australia

Your chess board was lovely....I love watching you and the things you build...I wish I had half your talent... you've got years of expertise that I appreciate.
Maybe Mr smartie pants ... should get off your channel and go start his own UA-cam channel...good luck to him with that additude...nobody will watch him.
