- I've been wanting to do this arrangement for ever.
'Stengah' my Meshuggah with an Indian twist to it.
Plus common, that guitar solo as a vocal solo? DAAMNNNNN
Vocals: Rohith Jayaraman
Tabla: Giri Subramaniam
Guitar: Amit Plaschkes
Bass: Lior Ozeri
Drum: Yogev Gabay
Mixed by: Jonathan Barak @kobifarhiMusic studios, TLV
Big thanks to Vlade Guigni for letting me use his EPIC studio to track drums! You're the man!

For those unaware, each word in that vocal solo was the name of the note in Indian Classical Music (like Do Re Mi …)
Wasn’t just random words.
Amen to that !
DAMN!!!!
Amazing
When he “taca’ ta’ taca’ ta’ tin’”, I lol’d. But when he “sabadeebe” the fuck out of that solo I knew he was for real. I’m speechless.
Well this is inspired by Indian classical music after all ..
Watch some of Mattias IA Eklundh's stuff. He really digs in with the Indian konnakol as an inspiration for proggy/djenty/metal/rock riffs.
The Indians figured out how to logically organize complex rhythms a long time ago. The system of using different sounds depending on the number of notes in each pattern/phrase is exceptionally good for helping to wrap your brain around odd groupings of notes. 2, 3, 2, 3, 4 (so you'd vocalize it one, two, one two three, etc. In English) is much more difficult to, say remember, and internalize, than " ta ka, ta ki ta, ta ka, ta ki ta, ta ka di mi.
It's so good they even teach it at Berklee.
That sabadeebe is Indian solfège. He is reciting the notes in the solo.
@@DapperHesher the Swedes weren't the first Westerners to grasp this stuff. Stravinsky had some understanding of it and applied it in works like Rite of Spring, and then Messiaen elaborated significantly on his use of it in his "technique de mon language musicale" (I think that's what it's called!).
This RULES!! That vocal solo was SO good, holy shit. Rohith has an incredible voice! What a stellar performance by everybody involved, 100x kudos!
Dude he's a beast !
His voice is incredible. The level of talent in this video is sufficient for the rest of my existence.
And a great story teller, too; who would have guessed that seni bi seni ba mah gah ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The vocal solo was so incredibly tight, some vocal pipes I'll tell ya.
Aand a bit of effects but i concur ;)
hahahahaha but only a bit
You weren't kidding, that "guitar solo" is fantastic! Great to have you back Yogev!
Yeah yeah it's epic hahahaha
That shit ruled
The vocals are a really good imitation of me listening to Meshuggah in the car that's for sure.
But listening to other songs ahhahaahh
Broo exactly haha
this is awesome
yeahhh souuuuup🤘🏻🤘🏻
Soup????!!
agree
Say the gamer word
It's Soup let's gooo!
It all makes sense now. My history textbook said that when Al Gore invented the internet he proclaimed "On October 29, 2021, my invention, which I call the 'internet' will finally make sense to you." Great to have you back, Yogev.
hahahahahah you the man David
Hahahaa
It's been 84 years since the last Yogev video; the wait has finally ended and totally worth it
Bro thanks for sticking around!
New stuff coming !

DAAAAAAMN that solo! What an incredible voice and technique
Holy..
The solo is insane,
i didn't even know that was possible to be this clean and fast with vocals
20 years as a Meshuggah fan, 33 years as a drummer-- and that vocal guitar solo might be the most impressive thing I have ever seen. Not in terms of "technicality". I'm sure there is far more technical. More in the sense that "it glued the universe together"-- like an acid trip, "we are all one consciousness"-- truly amazing and interesting. Yogev-- I think "Do Not Look Down" has the sort of syncopation that would work for this as well-- and be even a little more intense? Maybe with Mongolian yodeling as the guitar line?
Dude yes !
I have some other ideas for songs, I wonder about them.
Will check that yodeling thing !
So true!!
2:00 what the what the what the whaaaaaaat?!!!
Pure awesomeness!
babe wake up, new yogev dropped!
(holy fuck he sang the solo? holy fuck)
How cool was that
Welcome back Yogev
Thanks!
This is too good to be true.
יעני לא אהבת. זה מה שאתה אומר.
@@YogevGabay בול!
At 2:00 it's just beyond amazing! Well done!
Excellent performance from everyone, but that vocal solo was simply incredible. To think that Fredrik's guitar line would work so well with Konnakol singing, both rhythmically and melodically! Here's to hoping you'll pick more songs from Meshuggah or other bands like Animals as Leaders or Nile and give it a similar treatment.
Man I was surprised as well !
Incredible! That vocal solo was ridiculous.
That guitar solo was extra incredible!!
Lovely to get more content, what an epic arrangement!
I've seen Rohith doing konnakol in different videos, but I didn't expect his singing here, so majestic!
Dude he's my guyyyyyy best vocalists
Where have you been? Missed your content! You always have such great vids. Glad to see you're doing well. Still need to find a top notch drummer like you to play with! Keep up the good work.
The past few months were hard, but I'm back on track, Thanks for asking !
yeeeeeeees this is incredible!! Next time my guitar teacher asks me why I love Meshuggah and how exposure to carnatic music helps me make sense of it, I'll show him this video. Fantastic job everyone!
Also thanks Yogev! You taught me how to Dance to a Discordant System and now I can play it on guitar! 🙏🏽
Hell yeahhhhh
Excellent performances all around. That vocal performance was incredible.
The vocal solo was INCREDIBLE. Drums set, hand drums, bass, guitar, everyone killed it. Solid mix too
This is crazy cool
Oh my god that "solo" is badass!
such an amazing guitar solo and so awesome to see such a fresh and amazing cover of it!
Today I discovered, Ronith isn’t just a konnakol master.. he sings like an angel too ❤️💪🏽

Also, incredible vocal cover of the guitar solo.

I've been wanting more Meshuggah Konnakol recently, as Nostrum alone wouldn't be enough. That Konnakol solo was beyond amazing.
Two of my favorite types of music combined! This is awesome 🤘 thanks for making all the Meshuggah and konnakol videos; they're really informative and entertaining!
